I did survive though and got better and stronger much faster than they thought I ever could… I am now really curious, if he possibly had what I had.
Still there is no cure. Covid is an example. Influenza can change its shape to survive. And ARDS was known in 2000.this is not that old story. People die some survives with same meds. No advancement of medication can increase your life. It's all in God's hand. Some can survive miraculously others do not.
The physical defenses play a crucial role. A tired and exhausted body is bound to be more susceptible catching even the simplest viral and bacterial infections, much less successfully fighting them off… Glad you’re safe and ok! Greetings from Germany 🍀
I had a friend that went to China normal and healthy about 8 years ago, but once she got back, she started showing signs of MS and her body and health went down hill so quickly. She was diagnosed eventually with MS and another neurological condition, but was awaiting yet another diagnosis. Before she passed, she was wheelchair bound and needed an oxygen tank to breath. She eventually passed when the pandemic came around because she contracted covid from a family member. But even after her passing, we still don't know what caused her initial breakdown.
such a sad case, i've been in the kpop fandom awhile and i had never heard of this. i'm glad you brought more discussion to it, he should be remembered and honored so hopefully this video will bring more of that. so sweet to see his members still speaking fondly and keeping his spirit alive. i feel so bad for his mother, i can't imagine her pain; i know it's been a while but that pain never goes away. sending so much love to his family!
As a second (and somewhat first) gen kpop fan noona who grew up with TVXQ and Super Junior and also fell in love with earlier groups like NRG and Shinhwa, I get so nostalgic for these times. There was something incredibly soulful about kpop in the early 2000s, and I become so wistful thinking of it. The early days of using internet imageboards and fancafes, flip phones with crappy cameras, having to go to greater lengths to find clips and images of your favorite idols etc. Because there were fewer groups back then, fans really poured 100% of their intensity and feelings into them and directed all their energy towards them, everyone would be in awe at how passionate Korean fans were about their idols, their dedication was insane. Hwansung was one of the OG flower boys and his image is so iconic, so talented with such a naturally handsome face, the 90s middle part hair and highlights, haha. What an angel. His death was so devastating, but the way fans rallied together and shared their grief while comforting each other was incredible. The emotions associated with that time are so powerful. There is an innocence lost that we can never get back. It was really such a simple time compared to now.
Your whole description of how K-pop was back then, very accurate. I rmb it so vividly even though I was just a teen back then. So so diff than how K-pop is now but somehow I guess things have improved a lot now, but yeah, our OGs who paved the way for more to come after them, thank you so much..
i came across this video without looking for it. i'm glad people still remember NRG, specially Hwansung and I just hope everyone remembers him as the amazing person and singer he was, not just as "the idol who died young" , becoming an idol was his biggest dream and it was a tragedy his life ended at the top of his career along with NRG members, but i'm sure he will be proud to know he has inspired many people (including me). I love their music and I still keep up with them. Last night has been really though for me as I lost another idol that i loved so much, but I keep both Moonbin, Hwansung, and other idols who we unfortunately lost as admirable souls that will always remain alive in my heart and mind🤍
Thank you gor covering his story! My first k-pop love is the NRG! Because of NRG, i came to love k-pop! RIP Hwangsun. You are deeply missed every single day!
I remember the head bands all the Asian boys would wear during that time. K-pop was so big in China (blew my mind). I'm glad you did this case. Thank you.
I dont think it was sars or his group members, his mom, his sister would all get infected. I believe it was some bacterial infection which grew and led him to get pneumonia on top of it. Pneumonia is one hell of a disease, i almost lost my newborn brother when he had it. My deepest condolences to Kim's family❤
If I remember correctly I've also heard the theory that he might have gotten sick because around that time he had went to the dentists and got one or more wisdom teeth out? I could be wrong or misremembering since its been awhile. If that's true though, he could have gotten an infection either from equipment that wasn't cleaned properly or from something he ate afterwards that wasn't well prepared.
Being born and raised here in Korea growing up through the years listening to Kpop music and watching Kdramas, I usually have some crushes with these idols back in the day imaging myself meeting one of my idols but never got the chance. It was crazy in the 90's where these famous singers be blowing up in the entertainment scenes and you got these crazed fans be up all over them due to their popularity and you know being a celebrity in the entertainment industry can be such a blessing and nightmare these day and age.
I remember my sister used to have those recorded video cassettes from all of the kpop concerts during that era and there was a scene where a lot of people were crying and they showed his photo. I was too young to understand how he died but I’m glad you covered this years later. He was taken too young but will always be remembered.
Watch again here because today is Kim Hwansung's 23rd death anniversary. He has passed away for a long time. I hope he'll be happy, never been sick again, and be placed in the happines place in Heaven🙏 너무 보고싶어요, 김환성 오빠😭
i lost my brother in a similar way and he was same age as him its heart breaking losing someone u care about and watching them die with no way of helping them i know how the family feels RIP to Kim Hwan-Sung and to my brother and to all the ppl who we have lost and hold a special place in our hearts i always tell myself that beautiful souls always leave us early cuz they r too good for this world and that they are off in a better place that we all dream to be at with no worries and struggles 💕
Hearing about Kim and his mother worry about her son brought on lots of tears for me. Thanks for sharing his legacy on your channel. Also ARDS can be caused by multiple things including pneumonia (his mom mentioned fluid in his lungs) so it's very likely he caught an infection in China. SARS can cause pneumonia but other viruses, bacteria, and fungi do as well. I'm glad his group was able to reach #1 on the charts.
I'm almost certain it's Lemierre syndrome- it comes closest to the description of how this pop idol suffered from an initial sore throat/ tonsilitis that eventually became a severe respiratory infection leading to his demise. The syndrome affects healthy young adults and adolescents- starts off as tonsilitis- but the bacteria Fusobacterium necrophorum that is largely responsible for it (in combination with a large variety of other bacteria) causes an infected blood clot to pass through the jugular vein, circulating in the entire body, affecting the brain, the respiratory system, the skeletal system (which is why the doctors said that even if he recovered, he wouldn't be the same). The infection causes "sepsis," a condition in which the infected blood travels throughout the patient's body, severely damaging all major organs, thereby shutting down all major bodily functions that, then, become the most life-threatening stage in the process.
I saw another coment in which a person actually described their experiece with this syndrome and thankfully they recovered, suggesting that he could've had the same thing. Wish people could know more about this syndrome.
I see why people say that hyunjin resembles him and I see it . I actually like the flower boy concept , he seemed really sweet and I do think he would have been able to make it or be a mentor for newer Gen in kpop if he was still alive.
ever since my little brother passed away, i seriously get choked up whenever i see someone in ICU and having all those tubes in them and the assisted breathing machine bothers me, but the thing that made my eyes watery is seeing his mother trying to talk with him while he's brain dead and has those tubes and the machines hooked up to him... it reminded me of my own mother calling out to my little brother by his name..... it hurts me deep deep down in the heart or core of my soul seeing that young mans mother doing that....
The fact that I was just watching this video before Moonbin's passing, gosh this feels so surreal :((( Rip angels. I kind of find it wrong the fact that they filmed him in that state in hospital instead of leaving him alone with his family
This is one of my favorite contents. Stories about old groups or soloists that we've never really heard of. Please more contents like these! There are so many kpop artists with stories that we need to know about.
It's unfortunate that they didn't do an autopsy. I would definitely define a young, healthy person dying as suspicious. Anyone else think it could have been a crime of jealousy? Maybe a "fan" heard rumors they didn't like or were delusional enough to think they were together and "punished" him. There are so many routes for so many different drugs and poisons to enter the body, a simple dusting of anthrax in some fanmail can cause cold-like symptoms.
it's so sad and such a shame he died so young, he had such potential. a tragedy they couldn't help him. tho, i must say, when i saw kim he remined me of hyunjin (stray kids), so maybe kim's mothers words did came to the universe and now we have hyunjin who is also a very talented idol.
Oh God, this vid brings back so many memories of when I 1st discovered K-pop/dramas in the late 90's & got my 1st OG Flower Boy bias (Lee Joon-Gi)....part of me right now is kinda happy that back then it was super hard to find anything as an American because if I had followed NRG when his death happened I would have been devastated.
I'm seeing this video after knowing the news that Moonbin is no longer, this makes my heart break as a K-pop fan, Please respect K-pop idols and everyone, they are human too💔🤍😢🥺
Can you please do a video on Park Yong ha, I feel as though it would highlight the dark side of fans and their obsession of thinking they have any rights of what their idols should do and not do in life. It's such a tragic story of his life and genuine love 😢😢
Feeling so sorry and bad for him we need to address idol's mental health they really do need a break because the industry is too harsh and way too much rip to him.
NRG's "You, Me" is STILL the first song on my KPOP playlist on Spotify, and there's about 100 songs on it. Been a fan of kpop since '96. That says a lot.
Interesting what you say about autopsies being taboo. I always wondered how someone could die of unknown circumstances and then get buried so quickly in Korea. This was unfortunately a very timely video. 😢
I was wishing on my stars for you to make a full video on this. Your short about Hwansung made me a NRG fan. There songs are amazing. Thank you so much for the videos. ❤❤❤ The AVAdream episode was so heartbreaking, I bawled my eyes out when the AI Hwansung talked. Seeing the members in their 40s but Hwansung will always be 19. I've seen the videos where he acted. He'd have made a great actor. I also think that NRG would be so much greater if Hwansung was here.
That was beautiful to hear that they got No. 1 on music charts, Kim's wish came true, he would have been really proud, may Kim, Moonbin and other K celebrities who lost their lives rest in eternal peace. Also no hate, just my opinion, they all looked natural back then, nowadays most of the kpop artists look like anime characters may be cuz of make up or too many beauty products, mmm don't know, plus didn't expect to hear about obsessed fans being worse even back then, no wonder why it's worse even now, the bad gene of the obsessed ancestor fans is probably running in the blood of the new ones I guess
This was so sad! I worked as a therapist with brain dead patients. I had a patient who had contracted SARS in 2001. She was finally taken off life support. I also attended Terri Schiavo before she was moved to Florida and taken off life support after a long court battle between her husband and Terri’s parents.

Yes, it was 100% live back then, me and my brother would laugh everytime someone is totally out of tune. We would record in vhs the performances we love. Everyone is still real with no plastic surgery or skin whitening like today. Rest in peace Kim Hwan Sung.

Obviously not likely, but when I see Hwansung I always think of Hyunjin. Not uncommonly because of the iconic longer hair, but I also see it in his face and things like that in the pictures I've seen of him. I also get a kinda similar vibe from them. It sounds stupid but today I just randomly had a thought that was like 'what if Hyunjin is Hwansung reincarnated?', considering that Hyunjin's birth date is ariund that of Hwansung's death. I don't know, probably not, but just a speculation. I don't know him really now either but I can tell he was great, it's been 23 years already.. I hope he can rest easy and be happy!!

I'm so sad to hear about this. I know NRG. I never knew one of them had passed away. I'm a Generation 1, K-pop fan. I lived in the USA in the 90s and news was rare in the USA. I could only watch shows on a college cable channel. I would record it on VHS. There was no youtube. This is so sad to learn about this just right now.
I wish korea didn’t consider autopsies taboo because it can be so important. I think victims of the Halloween accident and Moonbin should be autopsied.
I think this is sick. Kim has passed using virtual reality is not doing kim any justice or let him rest in peace. Lets exploit kim even in his death how sickening
Seeing Moonbin becoming a star, I'm now super scared that my idol would make the same decision. I really hope all the kpop artists knows that no matter what haters say about them, There will always be a hand full of true fans that will support them no matter what. IDC if my bias is married or is in a relationship, if they are happy, I'm happy. It's as simple as that
Hmm I think about the time Yunho from TVXQ was poisoned but he survived. Could something similar happened? This is why not doing an autopsy is ridiculous and a disservice to the person who’s deceased. He was really young as well 😕

@@idgon09 Danielle, I am so glad you are here today to tell us your story. Your soul is a strong one, I can tell. Much love to you❣️
Still there is no cure. Covid is an example. Influenza can change its shape to survive. And ARDS was known in 2000.this is not that old story. People die some survives with same meds. No advancement of medication can increase your life. It's all in God's hand. Some can survive miraculously others do not.
The physical defenses play a crucial role. A tired and exhausted body is bound to be more susceptible catching even the simplest viral and bacterial infections, much less successfully fighting them off…
Glad you’re safe and ok!
Greetings from Germany 🍀
@@inezdebaue4077 I agree
I had a friend that went to China normal and healthy about 8 years ago, but once she got back, she started showing signs of MS and her body and health went down hill so quickly. She was diagnosed eventually with MS and another neurological condition, but was awaiting yet another diagnosis. Before she passed, she was wheelchair bound and needed an oxygen tank to breath. She eventually passed when the pandemic came around because she contracted covid from a family member. But even after her passing, we still don't know what caused her initial breakdown.
what's MS??
@@alicemornie2303Multiple Sclerosis. 😢
May her rest in peace
such a sad case, i've been in the kpop fandom awhile and i had never heard of this. i'm glad you brought more discussion to it, he should be remembered and honored so hopefully this video will bring more of that. so sweet to see his members still speaking fondly and keeping his spirit alive. i feel so bad for his mother, i can't imagine her pain; i know it's been a while but that pain never goes away. sending so much love to his family!
Kim Hwan Sung rest in peace, you were amazing😔. Thank you for giving us more details on this mystery.
Another angel became a star in the sky recently, rest in peace moonbin.
🙏 🙏 🙏
Thank you gor covering his story! My first k-pop love is the NRG! Because of NRG, i came to love k-pop! RIP Hwangsun. You are deeply missed every single day!
It was so sad at a young age. Then, 3 years after his death they have their number 1 song as his wish.
You really don't know how close death is.
Right I said the Same thing if it was a virus the other members would’ve gotten sick too
SARS was harder to transmit at that time but the mortality was higher.
SARS wasn't nearly as contagious as COVID is
@@idkidc8485 just because it wasn't as contagious didn't mean it couldn't have spread.Just look at the Hong Kong outbreak of 2003.
What a beautifully done respectful video. You did so great describing him.
So,so very sad my heart bleeds for his poor mom.thank you for this lovely tribute ,tastefully done.x
I hope he'll be happy, never been sick again, and be placed in the happines place in Heaven🙏
너무 보고싶어요, 김환성 오빠😭
Wow he was so young. It must have been so scary for him along with his family. I hope they still feel his presence from time to time 😢
I cried so much from watching this, you did a great job at showing this video.
Girl crazy thing is I looked up NRG last week and good old Korean boy bands from 90s. Then BAM, you come out with a video! Yes I’m old.
i lost my brother in a similar way and he was same age as him its heart breaking losing someone u care about and watching them die with no way of helping them i know how the family feels
RIP to Kim Hwan-Sung and to my brother and to all the ppl who we have lost and hold a special place in our hearts
i always tell myself that beautiful souls always leave us early cuz they r too good for this world and that they are off in a better place that we all dream to be at with no worries and struggles 💕
Im am sorry for your loss and I hope you are okay and your family
I know this sounds crazy but what if one of his own members did something to him out of jealously? Just a theory, not fact
@@Sarah-ts1jh maybe its very late now to know if that the case i hope who ever did it gets exposed
It's sad how a kpop idol died today and how a lot of kpop idols die..
Deep condolences to moonbin and his family
RIP
Yes, the toxic, deranged fans drive them to commit suicide.
Fr they all died young too
Even sadder knowing we'll probably lose many others before people really take notice 😢
It was SARS
Thank you for making a full video on this story! Lots of love to you ❤️
thank you Paige!
Even someone healthy can die of anything tho you’re not immune
@@brennathecatlover4360 I never said anyone was immune???
It was likely SARS. Stop the stupidity.
Seeing this vid after knowing another kpop idol died today is so heartbreaking
This is the story I been waiting for you to tell because it’s so sad how such a young soul could be taken from this world so soon 😢
it's so sad and such a shame he died so young, he had such potential. a tragedy they couldn't help him. tho, i must say, when i saw kim he remined me of hyunjin (stray kids), so maybe kim's mothers words did came to the universe and now we have hyunjin who is also a very talented idol.
I remember that years when NRG announced his passing. I cried my eye out. I don't want to believe it's was true. I grew up with 1st K-pop generation.
I'm seeing this video after knowing the news that Moonbin is no longer, this makes my heart break as a K-pop fan, Please respect K-pop idols and everyone, they are human too💔🤍😢🥺
it's been 23 years he had left us...
and we will miss you
Can you please do a video on Park Yong ha, I feel as though it would highlight the dark side of fans and their obsession of thinking they have any rights of what their idols should do and not do in life. It's such a tragic story of his life and genuine love 😢😢
the words of hope for another reconciliation with her son made me tear up. i hope they do reunite in the after life.
rip 🕊
Feeling so sorry and bad for him we need to address idol's mental health they really do need a break because the industry is too harsh and way too much rip to him.
NRG is my 2nd favorite group and Hwansung was my bias , it's sometimes still weird that he isn't in this world anymore😔
NRG's "You, Me" is STILL the first song on my KPOP playlist on Spotify, and there's about 100 songs on it. Been a fan of kpop since '96. That says a lot.
That is one beautiful song❤❤❤❤
Such a talented angel taken way to soon. Legendary NRG I lov there songs Messenger, Dream, shadow.
I've watched your reel about this case, and I appreciate you making a video too. Thank you sooo much Grace!
thank u for coming here Valeria!
How heartbreaking, may he rest in peace🙏
It is so tragic that such a young talented artist is gone. He was so young 😢😢😢 May he rest in peace.🙏😢🙏😢
Interesting what you say about autopsies being taboo. I always wondered how someone could die of unknown circumstances and then get buried so quickly in Korea. This was unfortunately a very timely video. 😢
Not me crying over an idol I barely knew while thinking about how we just lost Moonbin. 😭😭😭
I was wishing on my stars for you to make a full video on this. Your short about Hwansung made me a NRG fan. There songs are amazing. Thank you so much for the videos. ❤❤❤
The AVAdream episode was so heartbreaking, I bawled my eyes out when the AI Hwansung talked.
Thank you for covering this, I grew up listening to NRG.
oh this brings back memories when I used to watch kpop in highschool. Yes, I'm old haha. NRG was my fave band back then. I was so obssessed with hitsong. Yes, it was 100% live back then, me and my brother would laugh everytime someone is totally out of tune. We would record in vhs the performances we love. Everyone is still real with no plastic surgery or skin whitening like today. Rest in peace Kim Hwan Sung.
He looked like Xtraordinary Heroes Joo Yeon... It breaks my heart to see Idols losing their life at such a young age...R.I.P🥀🥀🥀 Moonbin We failed to protect another Angel😭
Not only did you fail to protect him. You, the fans, are the cause of all those suicides.

He too reminds me too of Hyunjin😢
I've been a fan of NRG for almost ten years now and even though I knew nothing about them at that time (I was still a child back then and I only knew and got into kpop when I was in high school), when I got into the group and found out about his death and how it happened it hurt. My heart goes out to his family and group members. RIP Hwansung, NRG's angel.
Also thank you so much for this video! I even learned things I didn't know about before, because I don't know any Korean and the international NRG fangroup is so small.
I hope you’ve been well Grace! Thank you so much for the videos 🥺❤️
I'm doing amazing thank u Nhi~
0:55 i hope you are healthy too because your face seems to be swollen, sometimes everybody has those days so that can be super normal but sometimes it can indicate some health issue, so I hope you yourself know the reason for it! maybe it has something to do with the Video itself…. P.s. I am a long time followerer and I’m pretty sure I have watched all of your videos 💖✨
Ik this isn’t about him, but RIP MoonBin😪💔. I still can’t believe it. We’ll never see his pretty smile again😞
This was definitely the early SARS, many cases, they call it few, spread worldwide before it actually hit as a pandemic
could be !
@@GRAZYTV The only other disease with exact similar symptoms is the Middle East respiratory syndrome, and he is not from the middle east, it came about almost around the same time
This was SARS, the Chinese government really did an excellent job developing their biological weapons and I can not blame them with the USA and the western countries still exists! The USA and its well fed puppies are the source of all evil, people get to protect themselves from their evil and China did and doing so is many countries around the world including mine
It was so hard not to cry watching this but im so glad they honor him still. He was so handsome and talented ❤😢

This is why the autopsy is really important. Look at the industry now they forces they artists too much some of them got crazy and taking their own life. Wow I had no idea. HOT was the first non-USA music I ever listened to, but back then it was hard to get ahold of over here. Sorry I never knew him.

Thanks for spreading this story
This made me cry! It’s so tragic when someone so young passes. Thanks for sharing his story! It was short, but he had a beautiful life. 🤍
I think this is sick. Kim has passed using virtual reality is not doing kim any justice or let him rest in peace. Lets exploit kim even in his death how sickening
Omg!!! I remember this. The members left were heartbroken and always honored and remembered him. 😢. So sad.
Seeing this video the time Moonbin also died allegedly due to suicide just hurts😭
It's as simple as that
Grazy i just wanna say your videos and the way you narrate is so good.
Hmm I think about the time Yunho from TVXQ was poisoned but he survived. Could something similar happened? This is why not doing an autopsy is ridiculous and a disservice to the person who’s deceased. He was really young as well 😕
He was so pretty, poor boy :(
