Maybe some things that you could test for a part 2 of this video could be using common household items (I know that you used a few, but even some others you wouldn't normally think of for helping out scratches) such as different kinds of soaps (hand, dish, etc...), soda, baking powder, and just a bunch of random things. On a different note, another video idea similar to this could be weather damage related, showing what happens to a card that is exposed to rain, the sun, wind, etc..., or even a video showcasing different ways people unknowingly damage their cards!
@@TeamPocket Yeah I remembered DPM doing the sun experiment, but possibly expanding upon the idea with other weather effects, showing why you definetly shouldn't leave cards outside
I wonder if the liquid soaked in enough on any of them to see a noticeable swelling of the card on the edges. Also curious if before and after how a black light test would look?
Oooo the toothpaste was interesting. Deff picked the best card to test. Only other 1 that would have been good is holo base set chansey or wiggly tuff jungle. But the premise of the experiment is amazing !!!

What I learned is if I buy a used card I should smell it to see if a product was used on it. Also probably should have used all those car products on a Revaroom card.
So cool to see what different products does to the holo, I would never do this to my own personal Pokemon cards though, like what you say it won't be original anymore. Awesome video thanks again for your experiment and making the video very entertaining. I look forward for your next video and hitting the 5K subscriber mark.
I’m pretty sure the bacon slathered Vaporeon is probably moldy by now. So def not doing that to any other cards 😂 Thanks for the support! Hope we can hit 5K!
I feel like we should definitely be more scientific and do these a couple more times for the high scorers. Like do a couple more for petroleum jelly to see how consistent it.

Why did the lechonk become a Pokemon trainer? Because it wanted to bring home the bacon! 🥓 lol 😂 dad jokes just love the whole vid BLT 🥪 are fire 🔥 lol
Vaseline and baby powder mixed together into a thick paste, it’s a lot less abrasive than something like toothpaste, so you can apply it with a ball of cotton wool. Make sure you clean off all the residue at the end and then rub a small drop of H10 ceramic coating on the card. The results I get are amazing, especially on some of the old hollows which pick up lots of faint scratches from the binder.
Also do you guys know what cleaner can I use? I found some specific ones but in USA not in Europe. Do you know any alternative for this with general products? (as far as I know without alcohol)

Awesome intro I would have done the same lol 😆 don't think I can eat pokemon... 😄 wow 👀 all for science 🔭🔥♥️🔥 I don't think it would work the grading companies would notice there's something on the card. 😅 Awesome video TP
I really would not recommend doing any of the things I’ve done in this video for grading purposes. It doesn’t seem there is a reliable way to detect these products to keep it accountable. And it likely violates the terms and conditions for most if not all grading companies. This video was really more for entertainment and maybe some educational purposes.
You need to get 3 almost identical cards, do ceramic coating on one, water with the other, do nothing to the last (control), then submit them all for grading. We’ll end up knowing if cleaning at all is good, and if ceramic coating will make a difference.
Love a good controlled variable science experiment! I don’t think I’ll be submitting it to get graded due to ethical concerns though. But it’s a great thought exercise.
I'm sorry that I missed out on the premier, I didn't realize I would be as busy as I have been. This is another amazing video, and if I had to say which one did the best would be between the pertorleum jelly and the ceramic coating.
Sorry I couldn't make it #1💙.... Was 3am here and I was 💤💤... Im ignoring the Vaporeon science and the fact you slapped her with bacon fat😂 but awesome video as always... Kicking goals 🎉🎉💙❤️
Oh what? No worries at all! 3AM is way too early. I’m just glad you watched it later. Always appreciate your support! Vaporeon with a bit of Lechonk fat 😂 Always your #1 fan!
Great video! I've been using Kurt's card care and am pretty pleased with the results. I'm tempted to try petroleum jelly on some of the cheaper ones with deeper scratches that the card polish didn't help. The ceramic coating is interesting too but I feel like petroleum jelly has less of a risk for long term damage. Might be overthinking it though.
I appreciate you watching the video! To be clear, I did the video more as a fun experiment. I'm definitely not advocating for anyone to apply anything to their cards aside from maybe a bit of water to clean the card. I don't have any data or insight as to the long term effects of any of these products. In my ending statement, I think there's a huge lack of ability to identify whether something has been applied to a card or not which makes the whole thing really difficult to account for. I strongly caution discretion and using good judgment!
@@TeamPocket Oh yeah I feel that. I meant more like picking up an under 5 dollar beat up card and seeing if I can make it look nice for fun. I'm too nervous for long term effects just like you said to try it on anything rare.
I think the ceramic coat did the most work. When you hold it and touch the surface of many of these, it’s apparent there is treatment on it and not original! That’s a good point and something I should’ve mentioned in the video!
@@TeamPocket Hi just wanted to ask about this - do you mean there is a residue that remains after wiping the treatment off the card or did polishing the card cause the surface to become too smooth?
@@grant5864Hey there! I don’t have the right tools to confirm. But I would imagine most of these products left behind a residue of some time. The cards are general porous and absorbent. Unless there is a factory coating on the card. But as an example, ceramic coats are designed to cure and add another layer of protection for car paint. So I would imagine it’s a similar principle if applied to a card which contributes to the smoothness.
With regards to selling or trading restored cards, there should be a separate market with the price reflected and graded as such, much the same with any other market.
So does the petroleum jelly make the card appeared altered or just cleaned? I use kurts card care and feel it is a petroleum based solution and haven't had a card come back as altered from grading so wondering if the petroleum jelly would?
Altering as defined means changing something. In most circumstances, utilizing some kind of chemical to treat the scratches introduces non-original process. So one can say that most if not all after-market products are altering the cards if something is being added to change it from its original state. Whether it comes back from a grading company as altered or not might be just the company's definition on what altering means or whether they've detected it or not. I would not advise using any of the products in the demonstrations in this video on cards that are to be sent for grading as it likely violates terms and conditions. Would encourage good use of discretion of judgement!
It would be interesting if you did kind of a time lapse vieo of the cards at maybe like 4, 8, 12 weeks to show the effects, i know that really isnt long term, but i think if its going to have any effect it would show up in that time frame and if nothing shows that means the only effects would most likely be very long term like 1 yr+. It is very contreversal for exctly the reason you said, especially when grading (if it doesnt get sent back for altering) and then selling the card. It would prob be hard to record, but would also be interested in seeing the cards under magnification post cleaning and then at the 4,8,12 week marks.
Can you send these to psa and see if any get rejected? Or, we send them unpolished, get them back, crack them, polish them, resend and see if we get a better grade.
@@TeamPocket oops i meant to say a different product from meguiars. The compound would actually be too abrasive and i dont want anyone destroying their cards if they attempted to use the wrong product. So i updated my original comment. 👍🏼
Thanks for the comment! I don’t want to encourage collectors to do this with their cards for the reasons I mentioned at the end of the video! Adding grading to the mix def gets into even more ambiguous territory.
