As ridiculous as they are, I legitimately love the Nuts trilogy. There aren't many things more iconic in Doom than a big square room stuffed with monsters
I'd recommend Long Days. I liked it better than any nuts. It's kind of like nuts 3 where there are a lot of places to hide so you can take it at your own pace.
Nuts 1, 2 and 3 are very impressive not just because they have like over 10k revenants or whatev. It's that each series requires some sort of puzzle and strategy to penetrate the monster layer and beat the level. Especially this one. It's all amplified while wears off your good ol' FPS. I really wish the series was continued.
For a slightly jokey map, it is surprisingly atmospheric. I like it! Also, I find watching the kill counter is a more reliable means of determining if Arch-viles are still alive (if the source port and your personal rules permit it).
Of the music, I'm reminded of MtPain's quote on Dean of Doom: "It's like the soundtrack to a last stand, a fateful goodbye, one last kiss before lift-off."
The lore is that the satellite dish signals a space laser to rain down death upon your enemies. So it wasn't the satellite dish killing them but the space laser.

Hmmm...I have a theory: Both Mucus Flow and Nuts 3 have starlight generators in their maps. Stars are in space. Space also has aliens. Ancient Aliens confirmed?!?!
Another theory: the starlight generators are to demons what UV lamps are to flies and mosquitoes, so in The Mucus Flow Doomguy turns on the starlight generator so all demons would flock to it so he could kill them in Nuts 3.

@@Turbine2k5 He hasn't been avoiding it, it's more that it's in his "someday" list; I can't really see him not doing it since it clearly seems like he really enjoyed Valiant. I'm kind of hoping that he eventually does it with fast monsters since Dwars has already done the entire MegaWad non-fast (Dwars claimed that he originally wanted HIS play-through of AA to be "fast" too, but changed his mind during practice runs because he reportedly kept getting his ass kicked in Map 3 of that MegaWad before he downgraded the speed).

Again, no praise is too high for your channel. For those of us who have been with Doom since the 1993 introduction of the shareware Knee Deep In The Dead, this decades long continuation is delicious. There are other great channels, but yours is the most comprehensive, the most consistent, and the most entertaining. Doom always, Doom forever, with decino carrying the torch into the 2020's.

I was never able to finish this level because of the extreme frame drops. I have a decent pc but can't run Nuts 3. Still, you inspired me to try Nuts 3 again and I did well enough...until I got onto the balcony wit the all the goodies and the Archviles boosted me to the exit. 96% kill in 3 minutes

I like how about 93% of monsters are eliminated in first 20% of time. Kinda reminds me software development where you also get like 80 - 90 % done within first 20% of time and then just when you are happy that it's gonna be done soon you get into endless grinding on small details.

4:57 I recall reading somewhere that when an archvile gets damaged enough it for some reason loses its limits on targeting range Tho I am not 100% sure on that, could do with testing.
The Archvile has no targeting threshold though. It should always retaliate against the demon that attacked him instead of the player. Maybe it's because he got hit by a dying demon? That might still give him unlimited range without an opportunity to retaliate, making him target the player anyway. Would also explain why it feels so random, since getting hit by a dead demon is a relatively rare occurence
Not too interesting map. 10k enemies just kill eachother and the rest is getting killed with BFG+Invulnerability combo. The visuals are nice and I actually like the invisible tracers but I can also imagine what a pain it can be to use.
the Arch-Viles can hit you from 460,538,519 light years away sometimes because they were in the middle of an attack of someone else & another enemy killed the fuck that the Arch-Vile was attacking before it's attack could resolve so not being mad at that enemy any more & having to target something; you (assuming you're within 460,538,519 million light years of the Arch-Vile) will target YOU
Don't know about nuts 1 and 2 but this map seems to have a double meaning in the name. There's the star temple thing which could be referring to the Egyptian sky goddess sometimes called Nut. Second, well, it's a slaughter map. It's nuts. Sunlust had a lot of mythological references in the map names as I recall.

Perhaps the word you're looking for is "uncanny". The music has an uncanny feel to it.

Not in my experience. If the Archie's target monster dies mid-zap, flame boi will still zap the corpse.
