So this is the legendary Zero Master I've heard so much about. Truly an impressive feat. If I had to point out my personal favorite/most impressive part, is when he uses the splash damage of the rocket launcher to just dodge everything in one of the last ledges in MAP29.
@@GR-ir2bu In 18:40 he uses the rocket boost to both skip the waiting for the wall to lower, and also dodge the barons that appear there blocking your path. From there is just running the stairs up to the exit.

Doom 2 was my favorite pc game to play at my cousins house when growing up.They had everything cool back in the 90’s - the Sega Channel, Doom 2 and AOL online!!!! So many memories of playing this game. Watching this speed run was a trip in the way back in the hey back time machine.

I'm actually playing through doom 2 on ultra violence with a pistol start at the moment, on map 19 - so it's absolutely wild to see what can be done with this game with maps I've struggled mightily with over the last few days. There was a couple where I had an idea of the route he'd take when you don't care about killing munsters, but some of these maneuvers just blew me away with the cleverness
Had me super tense at 17:15 i legit started shaking and jumping in my chair like I usually do when encountering arch’s, then I remembered it’s zeromaster and I knew he was gonna get through em before they could even lay a scratch
What always surprises me about these runs is how little damage you take over 30 maps. If you discount self-inflicted damage and damaging floors it would probably cut that amount in half. Amazing run, congrats.

It's like you can hear the thoughts of the people. Your last run came across my recommendations again yesterday and I started wondering when your next run was coming out...because there's always going to be a next run.
I had never finished Doom 2. While I was in nursing school during COVID, I only had my laptop. No gaming console or PC at the time - the only game I had available to me was Doom 2 and some old side scrollers. Between study sessions, I would play Doom 2. My laptop could only run old games like this. I couldn't believe how good this game was. Old games get passed up for new titles, but since I only could play whatever would run on my laptop, I sort of got forced into playing just Doom 2. It was like being back in the 90s and being able to appreciate a masterpiece that I had originally missed.
in downtown you missed a massive speed boost, you can shoot out the manhole cover in one of the buildings on the south west side of the map i believe. The same building you hopped into, and then immediatly went straight left into a teleporter in the corner.
Crazy. How to perform the rocket glide on 12:50? Do I need exact coordinates and an angle? I can not approach more than .00032 to the wall. Angles 16-23 also do not work
While watching this I got an appetite for playing some Doom but I thought "I can't spend time on playing Doom II AGAIN." I stayed away for all of two days. What an excellent game.
