    Di’Orr Greenwood is a renowned skateboarder and artist, born and raised on the Navajo Nation in North Arizona. She has skated for legendary teams such as Patti McGee’s OGBetty, Apache Skateboards, Propel Skate Academy, and Las ChicAZ. As a skateboarding instructor, she shares her passion for the sport with students in Southern California and Phoenix, Arizona. Combining her creativity with her love for skateboarding, Di’Orr is celebrated for her unique indigenous skateboard designs. Her Navajo roots are evident in all her work, from graphic designing to native cedar wood flute making.
    In her latest creative endeavor, Di’Orr collaborates with Nike SB on a special Dunk High release, showcasing her distinctive style and cultural heritage. The shoe features vibrant turquoise blue and rugged orange on the side panels, along with a Decon-inspired design that includes exposed foam tongues and a slimmer ankle collar. Multicolored accents decorate the heel, tongue, and sole, while the insoles display a graphic of Arizona's valleys and desert landscape, offering a homage to her home. Di’Orr’s name is proudly displayed on the tongue tags, and the shoe is finished with a white midsole and a black, gold, and turquoise rubber outsole. This collaboration is a true reflection of her heritage and passion for skateboarding.

    I am Navajo "dine" (da neeh). The reason for several of these details are very specific. When I go back to the Navajo rez, i always notice the big and little dipper at night, ever since I was a kid. The stars period are so bright. The two desert landscapes are Window Rock, where our government and tribal council sit, and ship rock and I believe monument valley fused together. Shiprock is a sacred place to my people. Even the colors used are scared colors to my people. The two designs on the back, I believe, represent the first woman. I could be wrong about. I have so much respect for this designer of this shoe. And am happy we are sharing our culture with everyone.

    Story behind these are incredible. Brown represents earth, blue is the clean water, the yellow tab down the middle of laces is “the sunrays we as people take for granted” the “North Star” is what she puts her daily blessings into which corresponds to the little and Big Dipper , she added the texturing on the back and the green line represents “life” the insoles are callbacks to old moccasins having imprints of natural landscapes.. 🫡🏆🔥 .. The blazers represent the struggles they are still fighting every day, broken treaties, fishing rights, hunting rights etc . The little bit of light represents hope for a better future and the designs on the midsole represent ups and downs in life.. heel tab “Dine” means “the people” .. can’t wait to grab both my grandfather 100% from Ottawa tribe grabbing them instant 🛹📺🤞 great review

    Really like the dunk high native american inspired design and colours, and that it's done by a native american skateboarder artist. I haven't heard of these getting UK release so I picked them up on stockx for little bit over what retail would be here. Looking forward to getting my first dunk high pair in hand and on feet!

    As far as skating the dunk, I can see the hesitation because it’s not the typical padded dunk. But you have to appreciate the collaboration for what it is and it’s amazing, those colors really pop and the details that went into this dunk are what the SB line is about. Most of the SB dunks are backed by a theme and having been to Arizona to check out the scenery, this one nails it. I fasho rather get a pair of the dunks. Those would look amazing with some black jeans.

    I picked up the blazers because im a fan of the silhoutte only in SBs though, and theyre very interesting with the lace piece in the front. I thought the dunks were nice until i learned that they're deconstructed which defeats the purpose of an SB dunk for me. Then i saw the laces were flat and I'm just like...ok these are basically just a regular pair of dunks with "SB" branding, so i passed on them.

    • @dspock
      @dspock 3 месяца назад

      Honestly, the decon has better floor or board feel, it has less cushioning, but has more flexibility. An OG dunk has more of a stiffer feel to it and the SB’s have that phylon midsole.
      So there’s differences to it especially being pro model as well.

    • @grapeeggplant3863

      @@dspock I appreciate what they were trying to do by making them thin like the moccasins that she wears. The story telling matching the sneaker are S tier but it's still not my cup of tea respectfully because of how thin they are. Most respects to her! I did cop the blazers though! 🔥

    these Greenwoods Dunk highs have def grown on me. At first i didn't like em cause of the colors but. Then I realized there not bad at all and a lot of nice details. I would just maybe cut the tongue strap thing off and that's it. I do wish they came with some blue laces or that brick colored red on the upper.

    Glad to see this review cuz I was hoping u could open that leather shroud on the Blazer Mids up and rock it wide open...those will look so 🔥 all open n loose af laced! Leather looks soooo buttery too. Plus...if u gonna skate them, blazers r amazing for board feel and grip...also won't shred laces. I'm into the Blazers...The Dunks have dope artistic touch but deconstruct for a skate shoe? Then again I think art was a bigger motivator than skating. The story behind these is deep. Everything has deep Navajo meaning.🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
