EveryonesPal i think the hype came from the collaborations. Nike really got creative by getting underground artists to collaborate with the coveted silhouettes. Most skate brands only collabed with strictly skaters, but nike also focused on the counterculture like graffiti artists.
I don’t even Know anymore although they were into dunks back in the day, but now they still look like a hypebeast that like a dunk bcs of hype not bcs of the original sb. look at what they like, all of the shoes were hype brand in todays world, if they really not care abt the hype they would pick something like the original 4 or many more.

Just purchased the off- white dunk low Michigan colourway. What's your thoughts on them? SB wise i love the Tiffany diamond. But strangelove dunk is my absolute favourite. Material and style is on point

Man SBs were the ish when I was in high school. I still remember getting my first pair and they were the green taxi dunk lows. Although SBs are here to stay until another trend hits. In my opinion I don’t think they should retro the SB dunks unless they do the releases as the originals if you know what I’m saying. Like the new ones are dope but had some minor changes like the shape, the outsole, etc.

Had at least some of the best (Reese Denim, Supreme Black Cement, Supra, Mulder, Jedi, Takashi, Hemp, Heineken, Bison, Medicom 1, Rayguns-2005, Cinco de Mayo, Pigeon, Boca Jr., Stussy, Diamond-Tiffany, J-Rod, Pushead, Brian Anderson, Golf-Pack Blue, What The Dunk , Eric Koston, Skunk, Lobsters except the yellow, and more) and really beat them up as they are were meant to be worn and skate with. Also we really lined up and camped out to get them and not by online app to decide if you get an L or W. Skinny jeans are not yet there so we wore them in loose to straight cut pants and yes with the padded tongue get them half-size up. Those were the days.

Great discussion..I have the Blue Send Help SB 2006 model. Would you believe that from 2006, it's still in prestine condition with minor heel drags. It's going up in value and I decided to just keep them as one of my prize possessions. 🤣 Great shoe really.

I had a pair of purple pigeon dunks back in the 8th grade. Casually ordered them off CCS skate shop for like 90 bucks. I skated back then but had no idea about sneaker culture because I was 12-13. I wore them everyday, skated them to death, and threw them in the garbage after like 6 months of having them. Lol I regret it to this day.

The good old days.... I remember I got in around 2006 because I was looking for a comfortable pair of dress shoes and the mochas caught my eyes. One thing led to another and I remember pulling the trigger on a $1500 collection on ebay for 31 pairs of orange silver and pink boxes. the market value on the heinekens was already around $500-700 at the time so I kept that and a few others and sold the rest and doubled up my profits. still remember the silly prices i let them go for. avengers for 150. de la soul high for 220-230 maybe. ice crystals for 250. send helps for 180 i think. then i picked up a pair of pigeons for 1200 and flipped it for 3000 a month later. who knew they would be worth what they're worth now? i just knew i could never actually justify wearing $2000 shoes so i had to let them go for that kind of money. I just look at all the prices these old silver box and pink boxes are going for now and it reminds me life is full of regrets. Lol I remember picking up a pair of the red jpacks because the blue jpacks are my favorite sb's. but th equality of the red jpacks were so bad, it left a bad taste in my mouth. ive had fake sb's before and these red jpacks felt like fakes. thats how bad the quality had gone down. that was the last sb i bought. curious to know if the quality has since gotten better.
