I was wondering is it ok to use something that is essentially made of plastic on the face? I've been thinking of using a microfibre cloth to help me exfoliate (rather than as a cleanser) but I always feel weird about using polyester on my face! I sometimes use a cotton face towel but I've been breaking out right after and wondering if it's too rough.

Susan Yara can you post something more specific about the first step of the double cleanse? I got the gist a little bit from your nighttime Walmart routine video. But I still feel a little confused on how to best use the oil. If you could show that in depth? And show using it with these tools like the face halo would be great!

I like to use my Makeup Eraser dripping/ soaking wet. I find this way it doesn’t tug at my skin at all, and removes makeup very well with just water.

Susan, your skin is absolutely stunningly gorgeous without makeup and that’s why I’m a subscriber. That’s the goal!
Also, I used a makeup wipe for the first time in forever the other day because I was short on time for an impromptu beach trip. It took 6 wipes and I felt like I still had a full face of makeup on. I seriously don’t know how people use them everyday. It did nothing and took forever. Double cleanse girl for life 🙋🏼‍♀️

Vivian West i highly recommend it! it’s really cool because as you’re working it into your skin you can feel your skin warm up and your makeup begin to melt off, it’s oddly satisfying haha. i definitely think it’s worth it if you follow it w your favorite face wash right after, your skin will begin to thank you slowly. doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped of your natural oils yet it gets rid of everyyyy last bit of makeup. really good double cleanser. makeup wipes tug and pull and tear at the skin-big no no

IDK about using these alone, without an oil--even then, it's like the makeup that is on the fibers will transfer back onto your skin. I would only use something like this on its own on a no makeup day to get the SPF off.

  • @gentlestormwyatt

I love the Face Halo but only after I’ve used my cleansing balm or oil. Perfect for drunk or late nights. Most times, if I’m doing all of that, I go and wash my face 🤷🏽‍♀️ so for me it’s just an extra step.
What I really love this for is when I’m doing a mask, this removes my mask perfectly while keeping the moisture in my skin, instead of rinsing the mask off completely. That’s my favorite way to use these type of products.
I find that I’m using this ONLY to remove makeup, I’m doing a lot of tugging on my skin AND my face is all red. So it’s a NO for me!
I do keep one in my car with a bottle of water though. You just never know. Sometimes I live on the wild side 😜

I’ve been using the makeup eraser for a while now. I never bought into the idea that you can use them with just water so I use them with my cleansing balm. I use my cleansing balm to melt down my makeup, wet my makeup eraser, and wipe off the oil from my face with it and move on to my second cleanse. It’s a lot gentler than a regular face towel so I have enough of them to last me a week until I do the laundry.

I wouldn't use these as stand alone makeup removers, but to assist double cleansing I definitely would. I know this wasn't an ad for Face Halo but in a weird way it kinda sold me. I think of it as a tool like the Clarisonic, as opposed to a skincare product, and with a balm it could operate like a 2 in 1 makeup remover and light physical exfoliator. Especially on those days I am wearing stubborn makeup. It'd be more efficient than just my hands.
I also just think that having something like this on hand for travel or on the go, or even just an emergency back up after a really long night when you're too tired to go in with a fully fledged nighttime routine could come in so handy. Better than going to bed with a full face of makeup.

I have been using the face halo for a few years and I loveeeee it!! I try to be as gentle as possible and the makeup comes off completely!!! I have not found anything that removes my makeup as thoroughly as a face halo! I do go in with a face wash afterwards but even when I don’t and I go in with a toner, I don’t see any makeup coming off! For eye makeup I would suggest leaving it for 10 seconds on the eye and then wipe and it removes the eye makeup completely and I usually leave it more wet!

I use a knockoff version of the Makeup Eraser and a small knockoff version of the Halo. The “halo” is for eye make removing if I wear glittery shadows. The “ME” I use for a first overall removal, before I go in with an oil or balm cleanser and then a gel cleanser. This removes SOME of the makeup first, so I don’t just spread a whole face of makeup around with the balm or oil. I would never count on these clothes to cleanse my skin alone.
After that, I use another “ME” to dry my face. I toss each cloth onto the hamper (Ive dedicated for them, in my bathroom) and machine wash a load in hot water, once a week. So far, I’ve been doing ok... and my mild case of rosacea is not being triggered too much.

very true on the Face Halo. for those first uses, i felt wow. its so clean and so fast but then later on, i found it still needs an oil cleanser to work best with. Also removing the makeup from Face Halo is actually quite difficult, they stained a lil after a few months (mine turns greyish now). it also feels harder (like the microfiber just gotten stiffer).

I ensure it has been drenched in warm water and i follow up with another cleanser (for any residual as i follow k-routine of double cleansing anyways) and use soap to actually clean it. also I prefer to hand wash the face halos every time after I use them! using cold process soap helps a lot (check out saaboon if you're in ottawa, otherwise you can buy them on etsy or local markets). dunno what it is about them but they clean my face halos and brushes like a dream!

I use both to take off my makeup with a cleanser. Or to take off a mask. I never thought they were to use alone. There so soft and gentle to remove cleanser or masks. I clean the halo between washing it with the beauty blender cleanser. Only using it twice and then wash it. I love the Jouer one because it is so soft. But I wash it after every use.

I bought the face halo because of your videos mentioning makeup wipes lol. I haven’t used them yet but I will use to assist with my balm. Thanks!! Very helpful videos.

I have the face halos and they don't get all my makeup off either. They also don't wash completely clean with soap after. I'll definitely use them with my cleanser from now on

I just used the Face Halo for the first time. My face feels not only super clean but like it's been buffed. It also left behind reminiscences of the fiber which was a little annoying but I just wipe them off with a damp cloth.

i use the halo rounds after my DIY oil cleansing (i just mix oils in a pump container) in a gentle way of course! the reason i do that is because with just water they’re too harsh and don’t get everything so oil + this is perfect

I use these types of cloths along with my oil cleanser to remove my makeup. I only use one once and then it goes in the laundry. I have tons of them. So no bacterial build up I would imagine.

For someone like me, who use light makeup with washable mascara everyday. This micro fiber cloth is my fav for cleanse my makeup before using face wash. But when im full makeup with waterproof mascara, i use oil cleanser 1st and then use micro fiber cloth to remove the oil residue and after that use my regular face wash. It feel soooo clean!

    • @bemused2774

@@henriettesofiapetersen I feel you! I've tried a few oils recently that don't emulsify properly, and I have to wipe or scrub from my face. For me, it's a mark of a bad cleanser, so I avoid these ones. There shouldn't be any rough rubbing or scrubbing. Once the water mixes with the oil it should rinse off easily. Some great ones I've tried: all the Shu Uemura cleansing oils (though quite pricey), La Roche Possay cleansing oil, the Clean It Zero cleansing balm, and the Heimish cleansing balm (my personal favourite).

@@henriettesofiapetersen Don't forget to follow up with a regular cleanser afterwards. Not only does it get the stuff inside your pores but it also removes the last of the oil cleanser on your face.

Hi Susan LOVE your videos have learned so much from them thank you. What is your opinion on using face cloth with cleanser? I dont wear makeup most days just products and sunblock. I have oily in tzone and hormonal acne on chin. If you dont recommend a face cloth what else should I use?

  • @Alwayslost7

I did the cotton pad test after using the makeup eraser/face halo/microfiber towel/ etc and they all had a small residue of makeup left on the skin. For those who don't know, the cotton pad test os taking a small cotton circle pad and swiping all over your cheek, chin, lips, nose, forehead, eyes, etc after using one of the reusable makeup removers. Not bad for being reusable and they all fell short in some areas so i guess it is just preference

I used to have some Face Halos and I think they work great. Maybe it depends on how much makeup you are using but I had no issue getting 99% of my face makeup off. I definitely wouldn't bother around the eyes, mostly, and no matter what I would always go in with an actual cleanser. BUT for those very drunk, inebriated or just downright lazy times - I think these are way better than a makeup wipe

I agree - I like using microfiber cloths to dry my face and gently remove any residue left over after normal cleansing... which isnt much, mostly just what was left in my hairline. I don't like the idea of using those as my primary makeup removal just because I know I would unintentionally press way too hard.

  • @addicted183

I use these with my oil cleanser and then I follow it up with a gel cleanser. I started using them 3 months ago and so far so good! However, you definitely need to use something else.

I've tried those several times, but everytime my skin got soooooo red, tomato red, even hot to the touch! (and stayed that way for about 2 days). Maybe that type of friction irritates too munch my skin.

Thank you Susan! I ordered the Face Halos (should be here by tomorrow). Not to remove makeup but to assist in other methods in my routines. However, I was hoping that I could get my teenage daughters to use them, & help to exfoliate their skin a little. (They refuse a good routine) but I know that will change someday. I hope. What I was not thinking of is the bacteria left behind & having to was them so often. Guessing my plan is a bust.
