Hi gang, a couple of corrections in this one- the tacos in this video are called tacos al vapor- for some reason I got tacos de vapor in my head and couldn’t stop saying it, sorry! 😆 and at one point I call the enchiladas mineras, enchiladas placeras (the Morelia style ones). I blame the musician for distracting me with his music 😝 Sorry if I confused you! Hope you enjoy this one 😍 Give this video a 👍 if you like it! Cheers, Sheena (& Thomas) 😘

I love so much how much you love visiting Mexico! As an anglo -European descent American who grew up mainly in CA and whose first other country was Mexico as a child for holidays I've always loved all this country has to offer. I had one set of grandparents honeymoon in this country in the 50's and the other grandmother start a tradition of becoming a bilingual educator by living in this country, which my mother continued by moving us there when I was 12! I love any travel vlogger who enjoys this country and it's variety and what it has to offer in whole or.in part, but I appreciate it even more when you come from so far away and still understand what's on offer and have a love for it too! I don't get back.often enough, especially since I'm only a few hours away, but I love to see you share this amazing place! Thanks for all you do!😍
Hi Jaci Boughter, thanks for watching and for your lovely words. We also loved that you shared your relationship to Mexico with us. Wow another great video from Mexico and more amazing food. Its 7am on a Sunday in Australia and im wondering how to get my hands on a torta or just pork crackle, love the stuff. Stay well and enjoy the rest of Mexico.
Mmmm pork crackle 🤤 you could do homemade roast chook tortas! We just had another one for lunch 😝 thanks so much for watching Kellie- so happy you enjoyed this one! Have a great a Sunday! 😘 Cheers, Sheena
Kellie Squire: Im on the same time zone as you. Was still awake at stupid AM when they uploaded this yummy vid.... and there l was scrolling Deliveroo and Uber Eats (absolutely nothing found like this stuff). Imagine if our local "Charcoal Chicken" made those Tortas!! OMG lm drooling jusr thinking about it. Happy Sunday.
@@brilliantbutblue Happy Sunday to you also. Unfortunately i live in a small.rural town of Victoria were Ubereats and Delieroos or even Charcoal Chicken dont yet exit( i know caveman country😂) but there is a place just opened in the next town that somewhat resembles Charcoal Chicken so im wondering if they would do something in the likes of Torta's.. yes it was stupid oclock when i started looking up how to make them on Google. Might be tomorrow's dinner😀
@@ChasingaPlate Mmm Stop it with the Torta Torture 😂😂😂. Im currently looking up how to make them as authenticely as possible for tomorrow nights dinner. I once ate the entire pork cracle off a whole roast myself in one sitting. Had to drink a gallon of water during the night but so dam worth it😀.
Kellie Squire: Im on the "wrong side" of the West Gate Bridge and let me tell you, that you are NOT missing much with the Apps for food delivery! Honestly l never get stuff off them l just use it for inspiration on what to make. Ok plan B for you in caveman land😅 Head to Coles or even IGA grab yourself a roast chook, turkish rolls and desired yummy fillings (dont forget some kind of Sriracha or salsa) and bung it all into a sandwich press!! Wont be anything like the original Tortas but its "cheap to dream". Good luck with dinner!☺
So many more unique foods. Your videos in this series really showing the regional specialties in Mexico. I had no clue the food varies so much there. Thx for continuing fun, educational vids.
So happy you are getting value from the videos SuzyGrowsMyBiz! The regional variations really do blow us away- it’s so neat getting to share them with you guys on here. Thanks for watching and commenting 😘 a Cheers, Sheena

Giving me lots of inspo for future meals (breaks out her tortilla press). Definitely going to try my hand at Tacos al Vapor. Those torta makers are deft. What a gorgeous fascinating place.

Last night I had for dinner MOLE that I bought at a Mexican restaurant, and watching the enchiladas at the very end, made me hungry,,yummy,,,some people may think that, that food tastes the same like the one we eat in the United States of America..it is totally different..
Mmmm mole! Hope it was good Fernando Lopez 😄 you’re so right- the food always tastes different when you’re in the country of origin- although I am glad you can get a fix of Mexican food where you are to satisfy your cravings! Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Cheers, Sheena

Loving your Mexico videos it’s so awesome learning about their food and the descriptions you give are great! In NZD it looks quite expensive to eat there.
So glad you’re enjoying them Donna! It’s usually pretty reasonable- especially if you’re eating street food and in markets and mom and pop shops. Thanks for watching and commenting! Have a great week! Cheers, Sheena
Guacamayas and cebadinas are really originated and a staple street food from Leon, being so close to the city of Guanajuato, they made their way easily there which is fine, all within the family sort of speak :)
So cool to see that steamer with the tacos surrounding it! Beef rib sounds so good - such a delicious tender cut. And gotta love all the self-serve fixings to add on
Hi biffarro, thanks for watching and commenting mate! Ahh we ate at Caretta as part of our research for this video but we found the chicken very dry 😝 maybe we went on an off day? The ones from Pollo Non are so juicy- we got one para llever to eat tonight for dinner 😄 thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed this video! Cheers, Sheena
About the guacamaya -- when you put salsa or lime on the chicharron, does it make a crackling sound like Rice Krispies? But oh my, those enchiladas mineras look wonderful!
😆😆😆😆 the snap, crackle and pop?! Now I wish I’d listened harder 😝 oh my goodness those enchiladas were brilliant- we talked about them for days after! Thanks for watching and commenting Keith, hope you enjoyed this one! Cheers, Sheena

Yet again, love how you show us food worth the travel. Never tried a rotisserie chicken torta, grew up with asada, lomo or chorizo tortas. That Pollo torta looked incredible. Wow to guacamaya torta, chicharon with Pico de Gallo looks insane. You really need to submit your videos to the Mexico tourism board. You're driving business to out of way locales, we're heading to Mexico next week because of you. Visiting family in Texas and taking them along. Great work on this series. Cheers to you both.
No way!!??? Where are you heading to Rebecca? 😍 that pollo torta was amazing- we ate another one today! We’re so excited for you about your trip! How neat!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend! Cheers, Sheena

Great vlog, guys! It made me so hungry just watching. Lol! I've been living in Mexico for 12 years now (originally from Florida) and speak Spanish fluently. I'm alo an ESL teacher. Guanajuato is quite difficult to pronounce but here's the correct pronunciation: /wah-nah-HWAH-tow/ The "Gu" makes a sound like "W" when pronounced together and the letters "ju" makes a sound like the consonants "hw" when pronounced together (rapidly). Hope that helps. Love your channel! Saludos de Tequisquiapan, Mexico.
Hola Dennis! Thanks so much for the breakdown 😍 Very helpful indeed! Mexico must be so different to life in Florida. We adore Mexico- hope it’s not too long before we can return. So glad you are enjoying our content- thanks for taking the time to write and for the pronunciation tips! Have a great weekend. Cheers, Sheena

Sheena, your Spanish is a testament to your worldliness. You don't have to be perfect for the locals to appreciate your effort. That plate of enchiladas mineras with chicken looked sooooooo good! I just love the spices and herbs in Mexican food.. when combined with creamy, melty cheese, YUM! Guanajuato is another area of Mexico I've not visited, so thank you for showing it so beautifully. Always a joy to tag along with you!
So happy we could share it with you MsKestrela 😍 it’s a really charming place- we love it here! Thank you so much for your kind words re my Spanish- hehe the locals are very forgiving of all my mistakes and blank looks 😆 oh my goodness the enchiladas mineras really were brilliant- so much flavour, tender chicken and SO hearty! *_Tacos Al Vapor_* - You kept calling them tacos de vapor because you were thinking *_tacos de canasta_* which is another very common name for them. Canasta means basket. When you were in CDMX a couple of years ago, you visited La Abuela, the most famous sidewalk stand for tacos al vapor and she lists them as tacos de canasta. (The most popular tacos al vapor restaurant, Los Especiales, also lists them as tacos de canasta.) So your first introduction was tacos de canasta. My theory anyway. 😀 I'm still disappointed that La Abuela was closed both times I went to visit her. 😬
You’re absolutely spot on with your theory Tosh! In my head the whole time I was thinking basket tacos- tacos de canasta so it just came out as tacos de vapor 😝 I was so annoyed when I realised. Third time lucky for La Abuela?! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one mate. Cheers, Sheena
😂 I had hoped you would like my theory! No third visit to La Abuela. Too many taquerias, fondas, cantinas, stands, mercados and restaurants in CDMX to visit as you know. Fortunately you can find tacos de canasta in pretty much any large city in the U.S. so I've had them twice. 👍
Looks like a beautiful city! I’m curious, how do people react to the filming? It seems like most people around you are just going about their business. I’d be such a snoop if I saw someone vlogging food by me!
It is so charming here Carrie 😍 people don’t really take too much notice to be honest- although someone did take a photo of us whilst we were out and about the other day and sent it to us and welcomed us to the city 😂 we didn’t even notice him! And it depends where we are- in certain countries people are more interested and others not so much 😄 thanks for watching and commenting on this one- hope you liked it! Cheers, Sheena
I might get hate for this comment but I am telling you what I think anyway the Mexican ladies and gentlemen can sure cook and Thomas and Sheena were ye drunk with the bloopers only 😂joking as always another great video God bless ye both love from 🇮🇪☘️❤️👏👍

@@ChasingaPlate Been making my own chicken torta with dry cole slaw, crumbly cheese, Italian tomato, roasted onion, and salsa Verde. No corn sorry not a fan. Also, for bread I used sour dough.... Yummm just saute the chicken and dry cole slaw first.😋😋😋😋😋
Hi ositofreitas, thanks for watching and commenting mate. Hahah good spotting! They had plastic spoons at the al vapor taco stand but we try to use our own when we can just to do our wee bit for the environment. Hope you enjoyed this one 😄 Cheers, Sheena
Hey mate. Thanks for watching. The ice cream is so yum. All details are in the RUclips description. It’s really close to the centre of town so really easy to get to. Cheers, Thomas
Love your food videos! The food looks amazing! Regarding safety, how is the overall safety there? After reading the recent news regarding the cartels, I am sure some people are alittle hesitant about venturing out to Mexico.
Hi Leo Fong, thanks so much mate- so happy you are enjoying the videos! We’re coming up 2 months here in Mexico and we honestly haven’t felt unsafe at any time. We take a lot of public transport and walk around everywhere and it’s been fine. There has been a police and army presence in some places like in Michoacan. Like anywhere in the world we just stay aware of our surroundings and travel smart. We’ve visited Mexico twice now both for months at a time and it remains one of our favourite countries 😄 hope that answers your question a little mate! And hope you enjoy what we have coming up on the channel! Thanks so much for your support. Cheers, Sheena
Another vlog hit out of the ball park - a home run!! I have a question about Mexican corn. I am from America so I’m used to American style corn and I have lived in Japan most of my life and they have a very sweet bland corn here. I noticed with the rotisserie chicken dish there was a lot of corn and I bet you had corn in a lot of different forms over the last two months of your stay in Mexico. My question is what do you think of Mexican corn and does it taste different from the corn you had in Australia or America other places and how would you describe the taste wise?
😍😍😍😍 so stoked you enjoyed it P T! Thanks for watching and commenting. I find that it just has a whole heap more flavour. When it’s grilled it’s sweet and is more intense in general than corn we eat back home. I find that when you eat fresh tortillas- especially when they’ve just come off the comal- that you realise how every other tortilla you’ve eaten outside of Mexico is a poor substitute- the corn flavour is so earthy and strong- it’s like nothing else. Hope that answers your question a little? Hope you like what we have coming up mate! Cheers, Sheena

We had to change out for the directional mic on this one and I should have spoken louder I reckon 😆
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena got it... it sounded good I’ll tell you that

You guys have to go to my beautiful acapulco and tried a pan relleno, a pozole verde, chilate and enchiladas de mole poblano.
We’d love to get there one day Noemiie Martinez! Gosh there are just so many places to visit in Mexico- we have barely scratched the surface! Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you’re enjoying this series. Cheers, Sheena
It is such a wonderful place- we love the culture, the people and the food. Getting to share a small bit of the food culture on the channel has been a joy. Thanks for taking the time to say hello and we hope you enjoy the rest of the series! Cheers, Sheena

oh wow !!! this series !!! THIS SERIES !!!!
😍😍😍 absolutely thrilled you are enjoying it Alina Petrea. It really makes us so happy! Thanks for watching mate. Cheers, Sheena
It's amazing....Mexican food also involves a lot of regional variety. I am from Mexico City and I didn't recognize a couple of dishes in this video.
Such a diverse cuisine isn't it. We absolutely love exporting Mexico to eat and we can't wait to return. Thanks very much for watching this one. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Giving me lots of inspo for future meals (breaks out her tortilla press). Definitely going to try my hand at Tacos al Vapor. Those torta makers are deft. What a gorgeous fascinating place.
😍😍😍😍 do it!! And please post the results on your IG feed 🤤 Guanajuato was such a charming city- we loved it! Thanks for watching Jennifer 😘 Have a great week! Cheers, Sheena
Jamaica, tamarind water and pineapple vinegar served sparkling sounds so refreshing!

Bienvenidos a mexico espero les encante todo lo que hay saludos desde san luis potosi mexico que ricos tacos de canasta
Ohh that red sauce she’s dipping the tortillas into - yum! Nice way to get your veggies on that plate too
That plate was absolutely delicious 😍 thanks so much for watching guys! Hope your Greek lunch was fabulous! Cheers, Sheena
Chasing a Plate - Thomas & Sheena Thank you! It sure was - really satisfied the craving on this cold day
I love all your videos.
😍😍😍 thanks so much Rodolfo rosiles! It makes us so happy to hear that 😄 this was a fun one to film- we had a blast exploring Guanajuato! Thanks for watching and commenting- hope you like what we have coming up next mate.
@@ChasingaPlate I’ve just worked it out the dollar conversion you show compared to usd is pesos not nzd lol, which makes the prices very reasonable.
@@Dph-r6e oh yea hahaha. It's definitely much cheaper than eating here in NZ!
So good to know about how they make the chicharrón dish !! That crunch is awesome
🤤🤤🤤🤤 crunch factor was super high!
Guacamayas and cebadinas are really originated and a staple street food from Leon, being so close to the city of Guanajuato, they made their way easily there which is fine, all within the family sort of speak :)
It’s neat when good food travels isn’t it. We loved filming this one. Thanks very much for watching. Cheers, Thomas 😀
Wow look at that volcano drink
Guanajuato here we go!!! What an awesome preview of what we gonna see today
It was crazy 😆😆😆 thanks for watching guys- hope you enjoy this one! Cheers, Sheena
So cool to see that steamer with the tacos surrounding it! Beef rib sounds so good - such a delicious tender cut. And gotta love all the self-serve fixings to add on
Hi guys! Thanks for watching and commenting 😄 mmm beef rib- it was top notch!
The best rotisserie chicken in Guanajuato is restaurant de Caretta , Wood fired rotisserie chicken ,soooo good ,Muy rico
Those hidden stalls are the best!

Daum my home state
🙌🙌🙌🙌 Guanajuato is magical! We’re so happy we got to see a small part of it. Thanks for watching and commenting- hope you enjoyed the video.

Good morning!!! Keep those videos coming!!! 😁✌👌
Good morning Araceli Rodriguez! Thanks for watching and commenting on this one- hope you liked it mate 😄 Guadalajara up next!Cheers, Sheena
I am in Guanajuato now and am keen to try some of this street food - where exactly is it located? Especially the tacos al vapor.
Awesome! Such a stunning place isn’t it. All details for the places are in the RUclips description. Enjoy! Thomas 😀
Everything looked amazing. When was this filmed? Also, how did you feel safety wise during your stay? Thanks for the great content!
This was filmed last year Natilee M and it was such a memorable trip! We never have any issues with travelling in Mexico and we’ve visited a number of states over many months. We just take usual precautions like we would anywhere 😄 Thanks for watching and we’re so happy you are enjoying our videos! Cheers, Sheena
My partner and I love Mexico as well and convinced to go to Guanajuato now the world is reopening!
Would be great if you guys give more vegetarian alternatives in your videos around Mexican cities!
It’s a neat city! We loved exploring it 😍 and the food was delicious 🤤 Hope you get a chance to visit. Thanks for watching! Cheers, Sheena
I’ve never had a steamed taco. Looks sooooo good! A torta (sandwich from anywhere honestly) that’s actually full, awesome! Oh my gosh. That dinner, the food, the live music, I’m so jealous!
It was paaaacked with ingredients 5cats 2kids- it was so good we had another one yesterday. The steamed tacos are pure comfort food 🤤 thanks for watching and commenting on this one. It was such a gorgeous city to film- hope you enjoyed travelling and eating your way around it with us! Cheers, Sheena
Can totally see why you guys immediately loved that roasted chicken torta! The bread looks really nice on it too - not too thick and well-griddled
It was great! Reminded us a little of a doughy baguette. Just delicious 🤤
Go to taxco Guerrero, I have been binging on your videos you guys make me hungry 😋

Oh my gosh I absolutely love your channel Sheena and Thomas, the content you bring us is so wonderful and your channel is amongst my top favourites to watch. I,look forward to 6our uploads. Those tacos and those tortes look heavenly good and that drink was trippy lol. They remind me of a spider drink but it doesn’t have ice cream in it. Take care and stay safe guys
Omg yes! Very similar to a spider FitAngie! It was yum- had another one today plus another chicken torta 😆 so thrilled you are enjoying the content mate- thanks so much for your lovely words! Have a great Sunday! Cheers, Sheena
Tacos al vapor are actually layered and then they have hot oil poured over them which makes them soft 😀
Thanks so much for this Brenda! That makes a lot of sense 😄 I’m going to ask to have a peek into the pot next time to get a proper look! Thanks for watching and commenting- hope you enjoyed the video 😘 Cheers, Sheena
Esos son tacos de canasta , no es lo mismo
Tip: carry a big spoon with you. (And a lot of servietas).
😂🙌
Thanks for watching John! Hope you enjoyed the video. Cheers, Sheena
Hi that drink was superb
Nuts right?! I made such a mess 🙈 thanks for watching and commenting Vrinda Iyer- hope you enjoyed this one mate. Have a great weekend! Cheers, Sheena
Very true! Impossible to keep up!
Tacos de canasta Or tacos zudados too
Looks like a beautiful city!

Haha, do you guys travel with a serving spoon? I am guessing no spoons at the taqueria. Excellent job on the video as always.
Hi ositofreitas, thanks for watching and commenting mate. Hahah good spotting! They had plastic spoons at the al vapor taco stand but we try to use our own when we can just to do our wee bit for the environment. Hope you enjoyed this one 😄 Cheers, Sheena

Love your food videos! The food looks amazing! Regarding safety, how is the overall safety there? After reading the recent news regarding the cartels, I am sure some people are alittle hesitant about venturing out to Mexico.
great question! i went in 92 but after that Mexico was banned for the base i was stationed on. id be leary now too
Hi Leo Fong, thanks so much mate- so happy you are enjoying the videos!
@@ChasingaPlate what a perfect answer. it pays to be aware of the surroundings but try to keep your situation safe
Aaaaand you made the white shirt miracle happen again!
😆🤣😆🤣 only just mate- it’s a miracle I didn’t get any of that drink all over me 😝 hope you enjoyed this one, thanks so much for watching and commenting. Cheers, Sheena
