    Perfect, perfect, perfect ! I hardly use my driver these days as my 5 iron, 4 iron and 3 iron gets me in the fairway more often. If I can get 225 , 240 and 250 plus with my 3 iron happy days. Great vlog I’m going to tweak my setup this weekend especially the feet pointing slightly right & left 👏🏽

    I’m nearly 60 and still hit a one-iron off the tee quite often as I will hit it straight every time (not always flush but straight). I’m a lefty too. My lefty 1-iron may be the most rare club out there. Thanks for the tips.

    I always enjoy your golf lessons Matt. You make your instructions so easy to follow…and apply.
    I have struggled with consistency on my long irons for ever…so this lesson will definitely help!
    [BTW…I still have my First Flight persimmon woods 1-2-3-4 from 1967. First Flight clubs (an Arnold Palmer company in Chattanooga, Tennessee).]

    Matt I love your videos, I’ve been a fan since you had to herd your chickens out of the way. How to pure long irons from like I don’t know 5 or so years ago Is still the best long iron video on the web in my opinion. That video changed my life. I’m going to try the box. I bet that will help me to. Thanks for all the great videos .

    I can’t wait to try this. I was doing these things except I was told after setup to move my hands ahead of the ball. I have done good with wedges through 7 iron but 5,6, and 4H have been tough I will try keeping my hands centered

    I used to not be able to hit my long irons for shizzle, but now, after thousands and thousands of swings, I finally can crush them most of the time and it feels really good. I learned a tip from you mr. Short game that has helped me more than most any other and it was a video you put out a long time ago about taking the club back. You suggested feeling like you're almost dragging the clubhead back and letting it feel like it's lagging behind the grip and shaft just in that first 10 inches or so. That one thing makes sooo many good things happen and if more people would just do that it would help them so much. One thing it does very well is help you get that whipping action. That really helps with speed and your whole kinetic chain. Thank you Mr. Short Game!

  • @davidcavon637
    @davidcavon637 2 года назад

    I hit the like button... but my longest iron is a 6 that I use to punch out of trouble. For anything over 160 yards I use my hybrids and fairway woods, they're much easier to hit and so more consistent. But keep teaching, by far your fixes and lessons are super helpful.

    This is a great tip. I would say that for your last point, it is a crucial for golf swing. The right foot rotation is the fundamental for good golf swings, which enables the body rotation at least for me.

    Creative and realistic products for buyers. Great video! I had a critical review last video but have to be fair and comment when I like it too. Good stuff! I really enjoy your channel, a lot because it’s not focused on the scratch golfers but also doesn’t feel like it’s for the 30 handicaps who don’t truly have a passion for the game. This could sound stupid but i am pretty new to golf, how about getting the right "body (feet) to ball" distance? I always feel like trying to find the right distance and changing my setup between practice shots in order to find "the right spot for each club" especially with long clubs, short ones are pretty ok, still didn't really figured all this out. thanks for these tips btw!

    Matt love this video the hands and the back foot ,perfect, I totally get what your teaching but I'm a low teen HC and I would love to hit a 5 iron like my 7 or 8 iron just get to the ball and hit it , in my head once I see long iron I automatically think swing hard it's unbelievable that thought pattern, so as you can figure Fat, Fat shots because I'm swaying from the extra thugness, now a 4 or 5 hybrid no problem 180,200 most of the time very easy shot, but forget all that I want nothing more then to get up at the ball with a 5 iron and have the confidence like a 7 iron, totally running with these tips you put out there and going to learn how to hit longer irons tired of this bulls,,,,,,! Thank Matt great video !

    Solid fundamentals are key. I'd also add tempo. Unless you're prime Tiger, swinging all out at a long iron is a crap shoot. I like to think 7 iron tempo. Let the club do the work. When I was a kid, and the ball didn't go so far, we hit long irons all the time. Familiarity builds confidence, but you don't hit them as often in today's game, which is why many players today think they're too hard to hit.

    I would argue that the vast majority of the golfing world because of skill & clubhead speed would be better to have both their FEET AND their SHOULDERS slightly open to the target so that they can play a soft fade that starts left of target and works back towards the target. If you do as suggested and align your shoulders at the target, you guarantee that 99.999% of golfers will either miss right or go over the top and introduce too much curvature or both. Far better to embrace a soft fade with long irons and aim slightly left

    Hitting a long iron fat off the tee is one of the most frustrating/embarrassing things I've done in my couple years of golf.
