Yes, like a previous commenter said, the explanations are simple and straightforward. Simple translates to easy to remember, for me anyway. Just great video instructions from Mr Short Game, always. When I get out on the course it’s like having him as my caddie telling me, no, don’t try to do what you’re thinking. Just open the face a little, play the ball in the middle, take one club longer than you’re thinking, and swing smooth. I am playing way better golf because of your advice. Becoming a much better striker of the ball! Thank you so much!!!

Matt, pls. do the long irons too maybe even with the hybrids ,BUT, the long irons are squirrely and give me push problems. Playing too much with ball position here for me. I remember your old videos hitting into the backyard net. Great to see your success. EX PAT now living in Luxembourg.
Honestly, I learn the most from watching good hitters line up/setup. Usually can find something new or perspective change just by seeing it over and over again.
I set up with my mid irons with the club head about 8 inches behind the ball. I also set it up in the middle or slightly back. I've been striking the ball much better that way. Does that make sense?
DRIVING RANGE: I'm incredible. Hit within a few feet of every target. Pure sniper. Strangers literally ask me for tips and advice. GOLF COURSE: I stand over the ball, tense up, and top it 20 yards. FML.
This move just needs to happen before impact, whether you feel it in the transition or on the way down, people feel it in different places, experiment and see what works for you

Interesting. Had a lesson about a week ago and the pro told me to get rid of my pause at the top. I’ve heard it both ways, maybe you can explain your theory and I can compare to his. He told me I’m losing flex by pausing.
Just take a deep breath when you step up to hit. If your thinking about how to breathe during your swing your thinking too much. Thinks before you step up to swing, when you step to swing just swing.
I think the term "hitting down on the ball" is misleading for a lot of players. I for one was "hitting down" way to much and injured my shoulders from the ground impact .
@@nicholasingle6845I am newbie and just discovered this over my last 2 rounds. I used to be so focused on striking the ball down and taking a divot that I had no distance and hit lots of thin and fats shots. Now I just focus on sweeping the grass and my contact has been so much better
@@bman11714you're better off feeling like you're throwing the club at the target. Literally. Take a few practice swings as if you are throwing your club to your target and it will help you feel your release
May I respectfully suggest feeling the club “float” at the top for proper timing to stop a rushed swing. Thank you mr sg! Dr D

I do fine with 9 and 8 irons. I fall apart with the 7 iron. This video was made for me.

This is but one of innumerable bits of advice for which you will find the exact opposite recommended. Both seem to work/not work for different people.
That " pause" is what gets your club in the slot and also gets your lower body leading the way forward as it should. Get a new pro!

Agree, "hitting down" implies something akin to a chopping strike.
