I apologize for my absence from my channel as of late. In July I became severely ill from black mold toxicity which ended up with us having to abandon our apartment and lose everything in the process down to the clothes on our back. I'm now settled in a new place but the neurological effects are still effecting me so going forward it will be a challenge to be as productive as I have been on this channel. The hope is that with time those effects will wear off but there is no time table and some don't recover. With that said if you'd like to help support not only the channel but my life consider using the links in the description to make your purchase. This is my sole income now and every dollar counts. Thank you.
The info in this video was indeed helpful! I was close to getting one, but found the last year's model on a song! Looking to reinvent myself as a developer in my later years and would love to share the scary experience with others considering the same....on a VERY low budget of course! Those mics would certainly help me convey my struggles and successes much better!
120hz vs 60hz is a noticable difference, especially when doing productivity tasks and browsing. It'll be much smoother display. I think you need to go back to 60hz before you say 'it wont make much of a difference'. It stops all the choppiness.
I believe you, especially when compared side by side. I just meant the average consumer as in office workers for example most likely won't notice a difference. I had my wife who sits in front of screens all day at work try it out and asked her if she noticed anything different and other than the screen size she didn't; I'd imagine if I asked most of my non techie friends as well as regular consumers it would be the same.
6:29 Actually it's very noticeable on anything but bright image and it bothers me a lot. Even if background is slightly dark in those areas it's very noticeable.
Here's my opinion on the previous version of this monitor. Please consider DPBS before buying. When used in combination with a Dell laptop that uses Dell Power Button Sync (DPBS) the monitor unfortunately is a horrible piece of hardware. In my setup I use a personal desktop pc and a professional Dell laptop with only one keyboard and mouse connected to the monitor. The DBPS makes sure that when you want to turn off the laptop it also powers down the monitor and vice versa. Unfortunately the monitor does not turn on anymore for your desktop or other connected hardware. Also the DPBS cannot be turned off in Settings Sometimes the combination of laptop and monitor is blocked and the only solution is to disconnect the laptop and disconnect the power cord on the monitor. Well, that sounds horrible for a USB-C monitor with KVM switch doesn't it. I recommend anyone interested in this monitor to do some preliminary research on the DPBS functionality and determine if this can affect you before you buy this monitor.
I can only confirm my PC didn't detect it as a GSync compatible display, I don't have anything AMD so wasn't able to test Freesync and didn't even think to try connecting my PS5 since Dell doesn't list the monitor as HDMI 2.1. I did buy this one with the intention of keeping but sent it back and decided to stick with my MSI QDOLED
Any scaling or normal visual gaps when using a MacbookPro. I just bought a M3 Pro, and need a 32-34 all around monitor (productivity > editing > Netflix = gaming) that can manage my new laptop. Thoughts?
Awesome, I would use the mics to do interviews with local business owners related to real estate. Thanks for the monitor review, I'm deciding on what I want to use on a new video editing setup.
Hi Jacob, really appreciate your videos and this will definitely help me make better informed purchases! I just have one question about this monitor specificially that I hope you could help me out with. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro and I'm hoping that this will work for me when using the daisy chain mode. From a few google searches I've seen that macs tend to not work with multiple displays via a single cable that isn't connected to a hub. I'd prefer to not buy a hub also as I feel it only adds to the too many cables issue I'm trying to avoid. My understanding is that this monitor has a built in hub that would enable this daisy chain option to work with my mac and existing monitor. I'd really love to see a demo on this too!
You "sold me the monitor"! I'm on my way to dell now! I'd love the new rodes that you are giving! I have a "stick" rode mic for my videos and it's creating a lot of noise when I'm filming myself. Taking a lot of time in the post production to fix the audio. Hoping with these mics the sound is going to be imrpoved a lot, plus I'll be able to cast interviews. Thank you!
Hey Jacob, I think I asked a similar question on one of your other videos but then this video caught my eye! So now I am even more stuck! Dell AW3423DWF - £584.40/ $752.05 Dell U3425WE - £687.79 / $885.10 I would predominantly be using the monitor for work and media consumption like RUclips, Netflix etc but unlikely for gaming as I have an OLED tv for my PS5. Some might say the "obvious" choice is the AW3423DWF as its an OLED, better features etc and less in price! But there is the "worry" of burn in. Any help and advice would be great!
as of right now im leaning between this one or the odyssey g8 oled, i do no gaming and people tell me not to use oled becuase of burns, but the g8 is cheaper and it has oled, but this one feels more productivity friendly and easier to use + good quailty control and connections (thunderbolt) all of it feels macbook friendly, the g8 is as well but not as much, but its an oled with small bezels (fantastic screen) but it can get burns, hmm idk lo.
Hey there - would love to use the Rhode microphones for my videos - thanks for the great break down as I am looking at getting one of these - If I do I will try your link
So I can answer my own question now. KVM does work without DELL software. It can be triggered by either switching inputs in monitor's menu or with any utility that can send DDC control signals. I installed DELL display manager on PC and I use Better Display on Mac. Both setup with F13 hotkey, so it's the same effect as having DDM on both systems. It is also possible to select if you actually want to switch all your USB ports along with input, as that's how KVM works here. It basically just switches all the ports back and forth. Ethernet port has independent setting btw, so it can stay connected to the either side constantly. In my case I keep it on Mac connected via thunderbolt.
For this monitor with 32" size, you only need 2K monitor for mac, no need for 4K since 4K need to be downscaled. Btw I am using dell 27" 2K IPS black, no need scaling. I use it for coding
@@JacobDarkOfficial I checked their website and if I'm not mistaken, they released updated 120Hz versions of all monitor sizes except for the 32" :( Do you have a suggestion for a monitor that's similar to this one, but is 32" and has a 4k@120Hz+ panel? I love the fact that USB-C can be used to transfer data, video and power to the laptop. It's amazing. Unfortunatelly, I cannot find a monitor that is 32", 4K 120Hz+ and has that USB-C port :(

@@JacobDarkOfficial I live in a country that this monitor isn't sold yet, and importing it directly will cost too much so I have to wait, I'm just trying to figure if the lack of HDR is ok for the use of mostly photo and video editing, daily browsing and RUclips and movie watching. I did see that its 40" brother has HDR but I think it will be an overkill on my table lol
How do you get the xbox to be full screen vs a square aspect ratio? I have an LG curved 34" and it's either square ratio (black bars on sides) or extremely stretched to fill the screen. Wondering if this is something this Dell monitor solves or if I am just doing something incorrect with settings. Thanks!
I just subcribed to help your channel, it is possible to perform some display response time tests? I am deciding wether to get this monitor for productivity/gaming since it has 120Hz refresh rate and Dell claims 5ms response times in fast mode but don't know if this is true or if there are some tricks about it.
@@JacobDarkOfficial oh that is good to know, I mean I dunno which monitor to get to play some games, coding and work which is mostly static graphs and coding. The USB-A is essential when connecting 2 computers to this monitor since these legacy ports support the keyboard and mouse connections. So it is very useful for a power user who wants to connect his work laptop and personal PC to one monitor.

The vertical position is not adjustable alongthemonitorstand. Is it really not possible with this model?
Would you recommend the MSI Mag 341cqp qd-oled 34" for productivity over the Dell U3425WE?
I wouldn't recommend an OLED monitor if productivity is the sole use.
