@Patfaki Glad you liked it. Yes, that is Kenny on lead guitar. He was only in his mid-teens when that was recorded. He's still playing and has only gotten better with age. Yeah, Dad died in '73 and it was indeed way too soon. Thanks for the comments.
Terrific song!!! The Children were so very underrated. Saw them many times in Texas and they were a killer live band. Thanks for posting this gem. Their lp "Rebirth" was a classic of Texas psychedelia rock and gorgeous pop. Vocalists Cassell Webb and the late Steve Perron were awesome performers. The records never captured the immense power of this band, only hinted at it.
Hello Miles. I recorded your fathers band, The Children, at Andrus Studios when I was an engineer (my first engineering job). It was somewhere between 1968 and 1970. I engineered several sessions with The Children and they were great. I also knew Kenny Cordray over the many years after that and recorded him many times over the decades. Your father (Steve Perron) was cool and talented. Best wishes to you. Linden Hudson
Linden, thank you for that. I can only imagine the "scene" you and those guys, oh, and one gal (Love you CW), were operating in back then. Kenny and Lou Cabaza told me some stories about when they recorded in LA after hooking up with Lou Adler. Awesome, shocking, and hilarious all at the same time.
Makes me very sad to hear that Kenny Cordray died last year - only just heard about this shocking news. Just as sad that Steve Perron passed away so many long years ago - a great rock and roller if ever there was one and still remembered by those who heard his music.
Kenny Cordray also issued a single of Francene in 87, Like the ZZ single, the A-side is in English & the B-Side is in Spanish. I'll have to record it and put it on youtube when I get a chance. I did add it to discogs: www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=2980413
Wow those pictures are great! I was working at Evans at that time and was guitar tech for Cordray for many years, really miss him. That Spanish version was great we would call him Emilio Cordrero! Thanks for posting those! ❤
In this version Steve Perron sings "If I caught her with Billy G" the ZZ Top version Billy Gibbons sings "If I caught her with with Steven P" I thing I would have enjoyed Steve Perrons music. Too bad he passed so young.
The Children played our Junior Prom in Beaumont 1969. They were two hours late. And they were fantastic. Kenny was such a little bad ass. RIP
So cool
Love You Kenny! Fantastic Friend and I'll Always Remember You! Rest In Peace...

I was only 6 when dad died, so I didn't know what was happening really. With Kenny I'm just broken. I loved him so much.
