- Hey there, quilting enthusiasts! Welcome to Lori's Country Cottage, where creativity and fabric come together to bring you the most delightful quilting projects! In this fun and informative video, I, Lisa, am excited to guide you through the process of making an incredible quilt using the fantastic Missouri Star Circle Magic Template!
To get started on your Circle Magic Quilt, the first thing you'll need is the Missouri Star Circle Magic Template.
As we'll be working with fabrics of different shades, having a couple of marking tools is essential. A regular pencil will work perfectly for light fabrics, while a white leaded pencil will come in handy for darkly colored fabrics. With these marking tools, you'll be able to keep track of your measurements and achieve precise cuts with ease!
Since we'll be doing a lot of cutting in this project, make sure to equip your rotary cutter with a fresh, sharp blade. This will ensure clean and precise cuts, making your quilting process smooth and enjoyable!

Thank you for the tutorial…it’s a beautiful quilt and I’m inspired to make one!

Thanks for the inspiration. I purchased the small template years ago and haven't used it.
Happy to inspire! Did out that template now! Have fun!

Thank you very much!
Very nice!
Thank you.
Thank you. I was looking for this template on the Missouri Star site. I want to make the quilt and appreciate your tutorial. My first time visiting your channel.
thanks for tuning in!! We have tons of How To videos for you to browse through!
Thank you. I was ready to do a small levi quilt and kept putting off because I was afraid to sew it together. Now I am headed to my sewing room to begin sewing rows together,
Wonderful!
Thank you!
You're welcome
Great. Thanks for a great project info also.
You are welcome!
Great video👏🏻
Thank you!!
Great video. I loved your in depth explanation on every step that you did using this circle magic tool and the entire process. Angel hugs of thanks. Your a great tutorial teacher. Bless you always. What was the name of the tool you used when turning the block to keep it's seam rounded? what is the name of the tape you used on the backside of the template? Thanks.
I used Hugo's Amazing tape on the back of my template and I used the RNK point turner in the video. Since making the video I have a new favourite turning set, the Gypsy Quilter Stitchy Sticks. You can find them at the following links: loriscountrycottage.com/search?q=hugo*&type=undefined. and loriscountrycottage.com/products/stitchy-sticks-3pc-tgq121?_pos=1&_sid=b3b50f77c&_ss=r
Great tutorial but what was the notion you used to turn the circles
I used the RNK turning tool in the video but I've replaced that with The Gypsy Quilter Stitchy Sticks. There are three tools in the set and I use them all the time! Lisa
I just made a small table topper but my circles didn’t line up properly during the last step. I have a small gap in between each circle. All of the gaps are equal. I rechecked my markings and they seem well placed. Can you help troubleshoot what I might have done incorrectly?
Hi. I wonder if your seam allowance is just a bit too big? That would make all the circles just a little smaller and would account for the gaps. Were you able to sew them together okay? Lisa
What pencil exactly do you use? I can’t seem to find one that really works well. Thanks!
Hi, I actually just used a regular pencil for marking. If I have dark fabric, I use the silver quilter's pencil. If I want a colored lead I usually use the Frixion pencils. I hope that helps. Lisa
Did you top stitch an x on the circles?
No, I didn't.
What kind of fusible batting do you use?
I used Hobbs 80/20 double sided fusible.
Hi I am curious what is the quilt to the left of the speaker, with blue and burgundy flowers? Is there a pattern? It is so pretty I couldn't keep eyes off of it.
It's a pattern called Butterfly Orchids from Southwinds Designs. It's very old so I'm not sure it's still available but they have other great patterns.
I have a question. Does "double-sided fusible batting" have a paper covering (like Heat n' Bone) that has to be removed? If so, at what point do you remove it?
Double sided fusible batting does NOT have a paper backing. It looks like regular batting but has a fusible product applied to both sides.
can you tell me the size of the magic circle
Hi Sharon, this project uses the 10" Circle Magic template. You can find in on our website here: loriscountrycottage.com/products/circle-magic-ruler-10-template-bund203?_pos=3&_sid=0a340f92b&_ss=r
What size is the finished quilt?
My sample is about 46" x 46". You can make it any size you like, just add more fabric!!! Lisa
Where did the temple come from
We sell the template online here: loriscountrycottage.com/products/circle-magic-ruler-10-template-bund203?_pos=3&_sid=13d500fb7&_ss=r
What is the diameter of that large circle. and I need the dime Dimension of the square fusible lining? I don’t have a template. Whst is the size of your finished quilt? Thank
The template is available here: loriscountrycottage.com/products/circle-magic-ruler-10-template-bund203?_pos=5&_sid=649ec67a9&_ss=r
So glad you do this but you are wasting so much I thought quilting was about using scrap
I do use my scraps. Every new project creates new scraps to use for a new project!
Good video but wish you were talking like we are there with us (like visiting) instead of you talking “loudly” like your a teacher in a 5th grade class room! It was hard for me to watch because it was like we were getting scolded most of the time…. Maybe you talk to others like that all the time!?! Closed the video after 10 minutes.
I'm not really sure what to say. I have never had anyone else ever complain that I spoke too loudly. Only that I didn't speak loudly enough. I'm sorry you didn't finish the video. It is our number one RUclips video and thousand of people have enjoyed making the project. I hope you'll try out some of our other videos. Lisa
Many of those other videos get just too chatty. I like this way best.
As a not confident sewer I really liked this video and the dreaded curves weren’t scary at all.
I so appreciate d this video. Learning comes to people in different styles. Yours worked well for me. Your instructions took the mystery out of this beautiful pattern. Thank you. ❤
