That was a masterclass in miniature (under 12 minutes)! Great information about the lens but also great, concentrated instruction on using a white background, headshots, and outdoor portraits with a softbox.
I have the non art version of this lens and it's also great especially for the price. Traded in some old gear for it so that meade it even better. 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro
HEy Seth! Thanks for sharing this video. I originally aimed at watching this video to see the performance of the Sigma lens, but then became curious about your studio lighting setup. I got to admit that the outdoor shots were so much appealing to me, as the indoor ones were completely ruined by the triangular front lights that transformed her nice blue human like pupils into an alian looking triangular shaped pupils. I am not sure if that was intentional though.
I wore it saying “ya know Andreas might really like this “ 😜 it’s a forever classic and iconic film and New York needs all the love it can get from its natives right now
Great video!! Thank you for showing us how to use this fantastic macro lens. I trust Sigma art lenses since I bought my 24-70 f2.8 I’m in love with that lens! now im considering getting the 105, although im not sure if I really need to save up money for the monstrous f1.8 or the f2.8 would be just fine.
Really interesting, Seth. (I love my Nikon 105 2.8 macro on the Z cameras!) I'm subscribed, including notifications, but only found this video because of your Instagram post. Glad I did, because of the great detail in your lighting explanations. Love your results... Thank you!
Loved this video! One question when do you think Sigma will release the firmware update for this lens ? As it is beta firmware as you wrote on the pictures. Also how we can update the lens firmware? Thank you again for this amazing video!
Nice demostration of the 105mm Sigma lens, however in the last spot I had used a 35mm lens because theirs green high heel shoes combine with the green line of the terrace. Greetings from Spain.
I just bought this lens, Seth can you help me please? by indicating your settings for close-up portrait? 1. When you took those photos of her, what position did you have the focus limiter in? 2. The focus selector in AF? 3. Focus mode at AF-C? 4. Area of focus, Center or width? 5. Measurement mode, center or multi? I am having a hard time learning to control all your settings, please help me
Awesome. I love macro photography. I'm wondering how much longer people are going to stay in NYC though. Too expensive when living outside the city saves so much money...that you can use on gear.
This lens couldn't have been announced at a better time...as you know...with my Nikon 60mm now gone, this 105 is looking like the next purchase for me.
I'm assuming the lens zooms internally like the Sony 90G and not externally like the Sigma 70? If it's internally it could be my macro lens if it's priced right.
It’s Sony E-Mount or sigma/lumix/Leica L Mount so if it’s on an APSC sensor Body with those mounts it’ll work just with a crop factor for the smaller sensor
Hi... can anyone help me out on how can I use this FF macro lens onto my Panasonic MFT body ? and what type converter it requires to mount on M4/3 body? TIA
What’s to cry about? I shoot nikon and the 105 2.8 that’s been around forever is an amazing Lens you can see plenty of shots from it on my Instagram I only borrowed that Sony to do this video
looks like a great lens - but really don't like the triangular look of the catchlights in her eyes with the three softboxes - looks very unnatural. Would love to see a shoot like this but outdoors in some nice diffused lighting.
@@LastXwitness You're right - I did cut out of the video before it was over - liked the outdoor shots a lot better - still doesn't change my comment about the weird (imo) catchlights in her eyes on the earlier indoor shots.
Loved this video! One question when do you think Sigma will release the firmware update for this lens ? As it is beta firmware as you wrote on the pictures. Also how we can update the lens firmware? Thank you again for this amazing video!
This photographer knows his business. I learned more about portrait lighting in addition to identifying my next lens. Than you!
Came here for the lens and not only impressed but also feel very educated about light 10/10
Really like the balcony shots, clean and natural light. The shallow but not completely blurred out background works well.
Thanks bud that balcony comes in handy
Thank you for a good review still!
That was a masterclass in miniature (under 12 minutes)! Great information about the lens but also great, concentrated instruction on using a white background, headshots, and outdoor portraits with a softbox.
Thank you so much! Really glad you got so much out of it Dan
I second that, best video review i've seen in a while, thank you so much for all the info!
Once again, Seth has sold me on yet another lens! Fantastic work Seth, Caroline, and Adorama! Love your showcases!
thanks so much kid! I know youre a sigma fan!
Great video Seth
Thanks kid appreciate it
Hinortiz im ur big fan from kerala, india💙
Ah, this is key, gear AND composition and light in a video...you can't lose, right?
@Manny Ortiz If the lens doesn't have a chinstrap beard on it, then forget it!
As always, fantastic video. Your explanation of why you light, not just how you light, is really appreciated. Thank you!
I appreciate that thank you so much
ADORAMA, thank you for being the best LEADING CAMERA and CAMERA GEAR STORE IN THE WORLD!
🙌🙏🖤
Nice tee Seth.
“Warriors come out to playyyyyeeeeehhhhhhh.”
It is very nice that Adorama make that kind of review.
🙏
Excellent demonstration. I'm sold! Purchasing the L-Mount version right now.
I have the non art version of this lens and it's also great especially for the price. Traded in some old gear for it so that meade it even better. 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro
Nice
Whoa. I like the how this lens looks.

Can you do a sharpness review of the 105 f1.4 and 105 f2.8
Definitely a good video !! And great lens for my bag !!
Thanks man!
Beautiful explanation of lighting also, beautiful shots x
Forget the lens, the Warriors tee shirt was cool !
Great looking Lens.
Yea it’s a nice piece
I love the Sigma Art lenses I have. I'm sure this is a good lens but not enough mounts yet. Your results were really good with it.
Yea we’ll see if and when they roll out more mount options
Love the T-shirt, great movie.
One of the most diverse films ever and I used to go every year to watch it at a theater in Coney Island so much fun I🖤NYC
Seth, your T-Shirt is epic! Made my day :)
I wore it saying “ya know Andreas might really like this “ 😜 it’s a forever classic and iconic film and New York needs all the love it can get from its natives right now
In this case I have the old sigma 105 macro it´s beautiful it goes along with Nikon 85 1.8 my favorite portrait lens
👍
Thanks for the great video! The lens seems to be amazingly sharp. Also like the bokeh! 👍
Thanks for watching!
Helpful and informative! Thank you so much!
It’ll be the Sigma for me. Thanks for the useful video.
Awesome video Seth! Sheila didn't look happy at all though with another woman stepping on her turf. Thats for you to deal with.
Yea she gets jealous. Always yap yap yap after the evil eye
How would this lens work without all the fancy lighting? I’m just looking for a new macro lens!
Great shoot! but is less sharp of sony 90 FE?

Yea the notifications have been weird youtube is buggier than you think but I appreciate you being so proactive to drop a view! Thanks man
Thanks I have the original version of this lens. Never realy know what the lens limiting switch did as I got it for Macro work.
Loved the quality of the video thanks
Thank you for watching!
Fantastic tutorial, thank you so much for sharing your skills
Loved this video! One question when do you think Sigma will release the firmware update for this lens ? As it is beta firmware as you wrote on the pictures. Also how we can update the lens firmware? Thank you again for this amazing video!
what's the software you're using to live shoot on the laptop?
Nice demostration of the 105mm Sigma lens, however in the last spot I had used a 35mm lens because theirs green high heel shoes combine with the green line of the terrace. Greetings from Spain.
The point of the video was to use the lens... the fact that even with that long of a lens getting a full body is a nice bonus...
I just bought this lens, Seth can you help me please? by indicating your settings for close-up portrait?

any thoughts on comparing this lens to the sony 90mm macro??
🔥🔥🔥
🙏🙏🙏
Seth.. thanks for ur rply 💙💙💙😘
What a class! Cheers!
Sweet lens.
Not bad right?
Awesome. I love macro photography. I'm wondering how much longer people are going to stay in NYC though. Too expensive when living outside the city saves so much money...that you can use on gear.
No intentions of leaving nyc or my studio
Holy jumpins that balcony was making me nervous , nice shots tho !

👍
I'm assuming the lens zooms internally like the Sony 90G and not externally like the Sigma 70? If it's internally it could be my macro lens if it's priced right.
If you mean internal focusing then yes
@@LastXwitness Glad that's the case. I also felt like that's what was going on when I was watching Manny's video after this one.
I forgot what this video was about after about 3 minutes in!
Great video.
How do you compare this to Sony's 90mm
Honestly can’t say I don’t usually work with a Sony system thus havnt touched that lens sorry
@@LastXwitness thank you still! Great review
Wow she is extremely beautiful
👍👍 thanku
Is the lens compatible with the APS-C sensor?
It’s Sony E-Mount or sigma/lumix/Leica L Mount so if it’s on an APSC sensor Body with those mounts it’ll work just with a crop factor for the smaller sensor
if this lens is attached to the Sony A7 will cropping occur?
It’s a full frame lens. If it’s a Sony E Mount with a full frame sensor it won’t crop. If it has an apsc sensor then yes
Hi... can anyone help me out on how can I use this FF macro lens onto my Panasonic MFT body ? and what type converter it requires to mount on M4/3 body? TIA
Sell it and get a Sony camera, crop or full frame🤷🏻♂️
ok i like you video tq..i from malaysia tq..
Tuyệt vời
Red-haired women have very beautiful eye color.
Sooooooo is that glitter on the steal blue eyeball... detail is amazing but i shoot nikon so im mad #runsawaycrying

Immense
11:48 That high pitch tone... _way_ too loud guys.
She should have removed her contacts ;) great vid
Sigma sent this lens out to every single portrait tuber on the planet. But... why though lol? It's a macro / product / etc oriented lens
looks like a great lens - but really don't like the triangular look of the catchlights in her eyes with the three softboxes - looks very unnatural. Would love to see a shoot like this but outdoors in some nice diffused lighting.
Guess you didn’t stick around for the 3rd set up..
@@LastXwitness You're right - I did cut out of the video before it was over - liked the outdoor shots a lot better - still doesn't change my comment about the weird (imo) catchlights in her eyes on the earlier indoor shots.
I don’t like your pictures!! It’s have a good light but the frame it’s not Creative
Terrible sound.
