    Nicely done. Just a heads up, Gel X is a trademarked products from Apres. Not an application technique or service. This is a full cover gel tip application.

      I actually didn't know this!! I thought it was an application technique similar to the *ACTUAL APRES GEL X* system and that was why everyone called it Gel X because its similar to the original system but not said system. This is the first time I've seen someone point this out. Interesting…🤔🤷🏾‍♀️

    I have been learning to do my own nails since prices have basically tripled in my area. I remember when a full set was $40 and fill ins were $15-$20. I could get a full set and pedi for $80. My husband and I have been talking about me going back to school to learn to do nails professional so I can get my certificate. He said he will make me a nail salon at our house. I think I am going to take him up on his offer. Thank you for sharing your work with us!

    • @angelamarie727
      @angelamarie727 8 месяцев назад +3

      @shannonwhitfield8943 I didn't like gel x when I tried them. I just taught myself to do acrylic. They last much longer. Everyone is different tho. If u do acrylic I suggest using kiara sky cause they are hema free which prevents allergic reactions!!! I think they also have a full cover tip line with a bunch of options! I've heard of sistaco but I've never tried them just cause the prices really.

      @shannonwhitfield8943 & All We should boycott them & look for cheaper places, they are just trying to get over. It's horrible, they over charged my friend & she called them out on it, then they lowered the price.. You always have to ask first, how much, so they don't scam & that's basically what they're doing scamming. They're not in Hollywood. People really have too start speaking up to them ! ! ! They will start losing business. Will you be charging decent prices ? 🙂 You'll get All their business ! 👍🕊️🗽🎉 Best wishes to you ! ! ! Go for it ! ! !

    In cosmotology school text book, I saw you should not apply primer to tip as it can make the tip more brittle and prone to breaking. In other scenarios, it can melt or discolor the tip

    • @TonjaWatts
      @TonjaWatts Год назад +55

      The primer she uses is specifically for tips. It chemically etches them. Instead of buffing with an efile. These are made out of gel, not plastic like other tips, so they will react differently to different solvents.

    I would suggest to purchase a brand that is HEMA free though as if you are a beginner there is more chance of you making contact with your skin while learning how to apply these products. If you pick a HEMA free product and you touch you skin accidentally there is less chance of developing allergy!

      Girl no this will make you allergic it’s extremely dangerous

    • @notanotherfuckingnikki
      @notanotherfuckingnikki 4 месяца назад

      @@Mommy_Moss she means a slip layer on the natural nail and then applying the tip and then curing instead of putting the gel on the tip. It's getting cured but just not immediately instead a half a minute later after the tip is on..(if you'd work with hard gel you'd understand what it is, you don't use a base coat and cure it for builder/hard gel, but rather you apply a very very thin "slip layer" where you want the gel to go and then build your first layer and only then do you cure. It's like a base without curing because hard gel bonds to gel so well) imo experience when it comes to full cover tips the best results are when you do both a slip layer and a dab on the tip if you're using thin glue gel but for the ultimate use a thicker formula or a solid - you can't go wrong with the solid or you can use polygel or builder gel imo those are the best for beginners especially and the great part is you can use whatever color you'd like for your background or even do a marble or design with the poly or colored builder gel. It makes everything much easier

Normally the side of where hand goes in for curing is the side to stand the lamp up. Been doing this for years just fine 🎉🎉😀 No problems! Enjoy and save money 🤑💰. No need to go buy a small flash curing lamp!

    In my experience whether you're new to this or have been doing your own with kiss kits in the 80/90s- use a solid glue or even polygel or builder/hard gel. You don't have to worry about as much spill out or at least it's easier to clean up quickly and if you use the poly or hard/builders you can use the color of your choice or do a marble or whatever.. the lazy girl method is for real the easiest way to do a cute design and not be struggling taking a full 20 hours to complete those first several sets 😂 Also kiss Salon Xtend has presdesigned sculpted gel tips and they're beautiful and cheap and you can get them from Target Walmart or CVS today! Also several brands on Amazon are pre designed. I'm just trying to help make your lives easier 🙏🏻

    When I got polygel, when it first came out, those suckers would pop right off literally minutes after I put them on. Is this similar? Is it really easy for these to pop off and if they break do they break your natural nail like acrylics do? Should I also get a nail drill?

    • @SolieNails
      @SolieNails Год назад +1

      Gel X stays pretty long if applied properly. Mine can last me 3 weeks to a month. You don’t necessarily need a drill but it comes in handy when buffing out your nails and the tips.
      I’ve honestly bent a nail before and didn’t break.

    • @saywhat23
      @saywhat23 Год назад +2

      I've been using polygel on my natural nails for 7 months now. No lifting, only fills every 3-4 weeks. It's much tougher than full cover tips. When you prep your nails, lightly sand the nails only to remove any shine. Once they are nice and clean, use a stiff manicure brush to get the dust off. Next, wet that brush with alcohol to remove more dust and to dry out the oils on your nails. Apply Dehydrator ONLY on your nail, AVOID THE SKIN, after a minute, apply Primer, after another minute add your gel basecoat, CURE then you can apply your polygel right on top. You got this! Good luck.
      *disclaimer; this is what works for me. Not one nail has popped off*

    Do you put suncream on before using the uv light? That's a lot of exposure just for the nails... I'm worried that in the next 3-5 years there'll be a massive uptick of skin cancers in the hand... but I also want the pretty nails 😢

      Yes, just make sure the nail itself doesn't have sunscreen on it. You can also wear cut off, fingerless gloves + sunscreen.

    I can do it under a big lamp. I have both ends opened on each side.

    No you can't file a bigger tip down. It will be too flat then and not fit.

    That is so smart. Get matte nails so you don’t have to buff?

    I use a big lamp, I turn it so it stands on its side with the lights pointing at me. And then as I hold the nail, I just hold my hand next to the lights. The little sensor senses my hand and turns on. I don’t stare into the lights though, that hurts. I just wait a few seconds and boom. Done. No need for a tiny light.
