    Hi, just found this video and its exactly what i need. I was a nail tech in another lifetime, 35 yrs ago, and gel was just coming into Australia. Oh, and electric drills were frowned upon because it was too easy to do damage. Anyway, I have decided to start doing my own nails, mad at 58 yrs old i know, and needed a refresher course in the new gels. This video is perfect and taught me everything I needed to know, now its just practice, practice, practice 💜🩷💜

      TOTALLY❤ I have learned MORE from Jai in a month than I have from spending WAY too much $$ by watching and asking questions from “my Nail Lady” for the past decade……I got to a point where I just refused to pay such a crazy amount of money and it was not like I was asking for sculpting or decals or flowers or 3-D etc as she could do literally ANYTHING…….I even had a GF say to me “Why don’t you just take a course?” And then I went with her to HER “nail lady” and I must have caught about 9 “wrong/unhygienic/sloppy/etc” things that she did to her nails including CUTTING her cuticles that were still ALIVE so out came “oh it’s just a little blood” which was when I had to draw the line…..I am a Nurse Practitioner so now she is in my aseptic world…..I was polite but to the point because the straw on this camels back was when she just looked at me as if I was a “nut job” and pulled out a pink nail block that was CLEARLY USED and she had already drawn blood so that was a “Nope, nope, nope…..no Hepatitis for my GF, not in my lifetime…..” and we went back to my house (I have amassed quite the collection of Nail EXTRAVAGANZA items as my Hubby calls it, I turned my ipad on and spun it around so she could watch “Journeys With Jai” while I FINISHED HER NAILS……Of course I had her wash her hands with Bac Stat and get the bleeding to stop….grrr. But they turned out really well IMO, she said “I LOVE THEM!!!!” About a million times and asked when I will do them again….to which I replied that she could just watch Jai’s entire channel front to back and then do her own and KNOW she was NOT going to get Hepatitis AND she would have beautiful nails but she was NOT going back THERE again!
      After 2 days she text me to thank me for her “mani” as well as the lost 2 days of “binge watching” JWJ as she feels like her IQ is up “a couple points” LOL…..so we went shopping for some nail items that Jai had recc’d (GF had a LIST, Bless her heart!) and we were looking at two different glues and she turned to me and said “WWJD?” & and I knew IMMEDIATELY what she meant and burst out laughing saying “My Little girl is all GRow’d up!” & we laughed and laughed and pulled out our phones to find the brand of something Jai had said was what to use for something and we heard laughing from the Cash register area and it was the girl working there (about 25-ish) and I looked at her and apologized right away thinking I hope she did NOT think we were laughing about her or anything in the store and she was still laughing as she started to ring in some items and lifted up a bottle and said “Yes, I believe Jai would approve of this…” and we ALL went silent for about 2 seconds and then peels of laughter and tears down our cheeks……we made a new friend that day❤.
      So, Jai is famous all the way up here in chilly 🇨🇦. We do love you girl! If I knew 10% of what you have forgotten I would quite Nursing!!!! You are our Guru!❤

      With the prep layer, after filing and then cleaning with alcohol, what she places in her nail bed, then on the gelx to make it putouts or “tough” did she cure it at all? She didn’t mention it. I’m a beginner beginner. lol it needs to be exapkined because if not tokd to cure I’m just going to assume to layer it without curing it. Of course not the last part before applying the tip on the natural nail. But prior the few times she did on her natural nail and the first on the tip itself.

    The trick with the small brush and acetone is such a game changer for making it all blend seamlessly. It definitely makes a difference! I do however use a primer and base coat before applying the tips/nails as well; it seems to really matter, in my case. Otherwise I'll get a full nail popping off after a couple of weeks or so.

    • @_nay__

      @@_nay__ I do it like this: 1)dehydrator, 2)acid-free primer, 3)base coat, cure. 4)apply soft gel nail, cure. 5)go in with the brush with acetone on the soft gel, close to the cuticle area just like on the video (I also do it on the sides of the nails). 6)buff, top coat, cure and proceed with nail polish. Hope that makes sense!

I'm not a technician, I just learned everything from RUclips. ☺️ if you manage to put on your nails without air bubbles they will last. Just make sure to always "place"the nails down ( cuticle end downwards ) and not just stick them on. 😉 Xxx

      @JourneyswithJai  4 месяца назад +6

      Hi,
      Thank you so much for the compliment on my nails!
      That's not a stupid question at all. Yes, you can definitely paint the nails before gluing them on. This is actually a great technique to ensure both hands look perfect, especially if you have a dominant hand.
      However, when it comes to applying the nails onto your dominant hand after painting them, I wouldn't recommend using UV gel glue. The gel glue might not cure properly through all of the gel polish. Instead, I suggest using traditional nail glue, which should work perfectly and ensure a secure hold.🤍

      Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I'm glad you enjoy the videos.
      Longevity can vary for everyone based on different factors, including nail care routines and daily activities. Given that you have oily nail beds and frequently expose your hands to soap, water, and various lotions/oils, this might affect how long your nails last. Proper care and perhaps some adjustments to your routine might help improve their longevity. Using gloves during cleaning and moisturizing your hands with a non-greasy lotion can make a difference.🤍

    Thanks for the video! Instead of using the Gel Soft Tips can you just use nail glue and cure?

    • @JourneyswithJai
      @JourneyswithJai  3 месяца назад

      Hi,
      Using nail glue and curing is not a recommended alternative to Gel Soft Tips. Gel Soft Tips are designed to provide a strong, flexible, and durable bond, which is not achieved with nail glue alone. Nail glue is typically used for temporary fixes or quick repairs, and it doesn't have the same strength or flexibility as gel products. Curing nail glue can also lead to unpredictable results and may not provide the desired durability or appearance. For best results, it's advisable to use the appropriate products as recommended for Gel Soft Tips. 🤍

    • @JourneyswithJai

      Hi, I recommend applying thin layers of the gel polish. The gel polishes I use are very opaque so I don’t have to put on thick layers. I usually apply about 1 to 2 layers of my gel polish on the nail, and I keep it even thinner along the sides to maintain the shape. 🤍
