With the prep layer, after filing and then cleaning with alcohol, what she places in her nail bed, then on the gelx to make it putouts or “tough” did she cure it at all? She didn’t mention it. I’m a beginner beginner. lol it needs to be exapkined because if not tokd to cure I’m just going to assume to layer it without curing it. Of course not the last part before applying the tip on the natural nail. But prior the few times she did on her natural nail and the first on the tip itself.

The trick with the small brush and acetone is such a game changer for making it all blend seamlessly. It definitely makes a difference! I do however use a primer and base coat before applying the tips/nails as well; it seems to really matter, in my case. Otherwise I'll get a full nail popping off after a couple of weeks or so.
So I use a primer on your natural nails and then a vase coat on your natural nails right on top of that primer and then will use a dehydrator on top of that?
@@_nay__ I do it like this: 1)dehydrator, 2)acid-free primer, 3)base coat, cure. 4)apply soft gel nail, cure. 5)go in with the brush with acetone on the soft gel, close to the cuticle area just like on the video (I also do it on the sides of the nails). 6)buff, top coat, cure and proceed with nail polish. Hope that makes sense!

I truly enjoyed this video as a nail tech for 30 some years. It’s hard to find time to really fine-tune my own nails as I’m really busy so this is a great way for me to make sure that I’m having nice nails not wasting too much time on to promote my nails.
I absolutely love a red nail. I had on red nail polish in a video on my other channel and my viewers kept complimenting me on my red polish. I’m definitely saving this video and I ordered supplies from Amazon to start doing my own nails.
Great, great, GREAT video tutorial, thanks! I'm going to try the acetone around the cuticle technique. I just did my first set yesterday and I am keeping them clear until my new gel colors arrive. :) Funny how I like my nails even more now doing them myself.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I’ve been looking for a video where someone shows how to do the gel x extensions without a drill . I haven’t gone to a salon to get my nails done after always being disappointed, but I’m getting the itch to get my nails done and decided I can do it at home , be satisfied and save money !! Your set looks amazing ! Thanks again !! ❤❤
Amazing tutorial! I haven’t seen anyone use dehydrator on the tip, I’ve seen primer though. I’m not sure what dehydrator would do for the nail but very interested to see how it works for you!
I put one this layer on my natural nail of the for gel and cure for 30 seconds then I apply it to nail tip and cure that for 1 min and they come out great. I don’t dehydrate the nail tip I just cleanse with alcohol pad to remove the dust and dehydrate and then I apply the young nails primer one coat the nail. Last a few weeks with no lifting. I know if u over prime it could cause lifting to so be careful. Ur nails look good though iv never tried that method.
HelloJai! I'm glad I found your channel. I'm always frustrated with removing the old tips and applying the nail tips to avoid them popping up or not looking nice after two weeks of growing natural nails. Would you please make a video on properly removing them without damaging the natural nails? Thank you for your tips and wishes for success in your channel!✨
Would you recommend using a builder gel before applying gel polish? I use soft nail tip but would like for them to be a bit stronger and not so flimsy.
Hey Jai, love your tutorials, they are so helpful. Just wondering if there is one for taking off the gel nails please? I was going through your list and can’t seem to find it. Thx ❤
Have you had the opportunity to look at any of my videos showing the retention at the very end. Not all of my sets are going to be worn for multiple weeks as I create content. But I do have videos on my channel where I come back to show the nails 3+ weeks later and also how to fill them in. 🤍
It does last, I change mine nearly every week if I have time as i get bored. But... sometimes I can't be bothered and leave them on for a few weeks. I've done that many times and they do last. I'm not a technician, I just learned everything from RUclips. ☺️ if you manage to put on your nails without air bubbles they will last. Just make sure to always "place"the nails down ( cuticle end downwards ) and not just stick them on. 😉 Xxx
14:52 👋 I love your videos but can you make them brighter like more light it looks dark on my phone and hard to see❤ I had my brightness up all the way too ... really enjoyed this set tho.
I hope this isn’t a stupid question…Your nails look Fabulous…Is there a way to paint the nails prior to gluing them on? I am right handed and I already know my left hand will be looking like a million bucks and my right hand would be looking raggedy😢
Hi, Thank you so much for the compliment on my nails! That's not a stupid question at all. Yes, you can definitely paint the nails before gluing them on. This is actually a great technique to ensure both hands look perfect, especially if you have a dominant hand. However, when it comes to applying the nails onto your dominant hand after painting them, I wouldn't recommend using UV gel glue. The gel glue might not cure properly through all of the gel polish. Instead, I suggest using traditional nail glue, which should work perfectly and ensure a secure hold.🤍
Just found you today, this was a very informative and helpful video! Love the color on you! Thank you for this ❤ Question: do you have any videos about proper removal of the nails?
I watch a lot of your videos and love how you explain every step! Now for the questions. I have oily nail beds and have my hands in soap and water as well as lotion/oils pretty often. Dishes, showers, cleaning.. and I have dry skin. Will they still last?
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Longevity can vary for everyone based on different factors, including nail care routines and daily activities. Given that you have oily nail beds and frequently expose your hands to soap, water, and various lotions/oils, this might affect how long your nails last. Proper care and perhaps some adjustments to your routine might help improve their longevity. Using gloves during cleaning and moisturizing your hands with a non-greasy lotion can make a difference.🤍
Thank you for your help this are really good and easy to follow steps I have been doing things like this my self to help cut back in spending so much I have an amazing husband that takes care of all my need but I really want to learn how to to my nails and hair to help him
Thank you! I’ve done it both ways and didn’t experience any issues with longevity. I currently now use a basecoat more so just to create an additional layer of gel product between my natural nail and the extension. ☺️🤍
Hi, Using nail glue and curing is not a recommended alternative to Gel Soft Tips. Gel Soft Tips are designed to provide a strong, flexible, and durable bond, which is not achieved with nail glue alone. Nail glue is typically used for temporary fixes or quick repairs, and it doesn't have the same strength or flexibility as gel products. Curing nail glue can also lead to unpredictable results and may not provide the desired durability or appearance. For best results, it's advisable to use the appropriate products as recommended for Gel Soft Tips. 🤍
Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot, can you please tell me can we use a builder gel as the first layer on the tips before the color, to make it more stronger?
New subscriber here 💜💜 I love your videos and I also do Gel-X. Do you think you can make a video on how to remove it? I still struggle with that process.
Newbie here. Just started doing my own nails. I got dehydrator and acid free primer together. Are they the same thing? I see you only used dehydrator. Ty in advance!
I see you didn’t use an acid free primer and apply a cured gel base coat before you applied the extensions. I have been searching to see if this was possible because base coat gel cure I’m allergic to and am trying to see if I can avoid using it but I’m able to use the acid free primer. So I’m curious if I should just skip the primer too or stick with it now seeing this
Hi, As a Nail DIYer I have skipped primer and my application lasted great. I now apply primer and Hema free base gel before applying my gel extensions. I’m one try different ways but so far they all have worked. Sorry to hear that you are allergic to your base gel🤍
@shadayimadiyi4363 I never use gel overlay with my full tips. I didn't realize it was even a thing until recently and mine last 3+ wks. I just never personally keep them that long bc I get bored of looking at the same nails for 3 weeks lol But I have a few times used hard gel or hybrid for a full cover fill. Those don't last nearly as long though.
Hi, I recommend applying thin layers of the gel polish. The gel polishes I use are very opaque so I don’t have to put on thick layers. I usually apply about 1 to 2 layers of my gel polish on the nail, and I keep it even thinner along the sides to maintain the shape. 🤍
Update: I have been wearing Gel-Xgrid a few months and absolutely love it! The retention is better than I expected. I may never go back to acrylic nails again.
Thanks for subbing! Gel extensions are very strong but It does vary depending on the brand. Brands like Apres or Not Polish have really strong extensions and with other brands if you have builder gel, you can definitely make them stronger. 🤍
I personally have not had any issues with lifting of my gel polishes without a basecoat, but that can definitely depend on the brand. I would still recommend using a basecoat to be safe.🤍
@@JourneyswithJai I actually found the video last night! Thank you! I will be trying this tomorrow when my items get delivered! Love your video by the way!
Hi, I would definitely recommend nail tips from Apres. It would be in the sculpted family for anyone that has a C curve nail bed. There are also a few brands that I’ve used from Amazon that have a really nice C curve as well.
@@JourneyswithJai the Apres brand, can I get any one or is there something I should be looking for in the details? So I’ve wasted so much money in the past.
@SimplyIshimina Hi beautiful! You can get any from Apres that says sculpted. It's the gold box, but just look for that word "SCULPTED" so you don’t waste anymore unnecessary money on them.

However, when it comes to applying the nails onto your dominant hand after painting them, I wouldn't recommend using UV gel glue. The gel glue might not cure properly through all of the gel polish. Instead, I suggest using traditional nail glue, which should work perfectly and ensure a secure hold.🤍
This was so nice to listen to . Everything explained so perfectly . Relly enjoyed this video.. thanks!
Thank you so much for watching 🤍
Good afternoon😊 What brand full cover GelX tips are you using? Thanks!
i think she using the apres sculpted stiletto gel x tips
I am using Apres stiletto gel x tips? I have them linked in the description box as well. ☺️🤍
Whats the best nail glue and topcoat for shiny nails?
Just found you today, this was a very informative and helpful video! Love the color on you! Thank you for this ❤ Question: do you have any videos about proper removal of the nails?
Hi! ☺️ Yes I have a removal video on my channel🤍
A tiny bit of Acetone to seal the cuticle area! Genius!!!! 💯🧠❤️
☺️🤍
@@JourneyswithJai thank you for the advice & tips (no pun intended 😁)
😂🤍 anytime 🥰
Hello! Quick question…if I purchase the full matte gel nails do I still have to buff them at all?
Hi,
You don’t have to I just still do it out of habit lol
Nice video, so that LED or is it UV lamp works well I see
Thank you for this video
Do you use the ph bond ?
Thank you for your help this are really good and easy to follow steps I have been doing things like this my self to help cut back in spending so much I have an amazing husband that takes care of all my need but I really want to learn how to to my nails and hair to help him
Thank you and that’s why I started sharing videos 🥹 happy to have you here 🤍
Good job👌🏾 I’ve noticed no base coat used, so you recommend or is it not necessary ?
Thank you! I’ve done it both ways and didn’t experience any issues with longevity. I currently now use a basecoat more so just to create an additional layer of gel product between my natural nail and the extension. ☺️🤍
Thanks for the video! Instead of using the Gel Soft Tips can you just use nail glue and cure?
Hi,
Using nail glue and curing is not a recommended alternative to Gel Soft Tips. 🤍
What lamp were u using
May we please pretty please have a list of the names of items you used . You did amazing job
Hi,
I have a link under products used/mentioned in my description box. If you click on that it will show all products used. 😊
Thank you, i learned a lot that i didn't know😍
Thanks for the video, it helped me a lot, can you please tell me can we use a builder gel as the first layer on the tips before the color, to make it more stronger?
Yes, absolutely I sometimes add a layer of builder gel for strength ☺️🤍
@@JourneyswithJai thanks dear I appreciate it ❤️
Your nails came out beautiful I used to do my own gelx as well but noticed burning sensation and itching not sure what I was doing wrong
Thank you! That sounds like you could possibly have an allergy to something in the product I would consult with a specialist. 🤍
Your nails are very beautiful! I like it❤

I love your videos and I also do Gel-X.
Do you think you can make a video on how to remove it? I still struggle with that process.
TYSM 🌺 I do also have a removal video my channel 🤍
Newbie here. Just started doing my own nails. I got dehydrator and acid free primer together. Are they the same thing? I see you only used dehydrator. Ty in advance!
Hi,
In my most recent videos I use both the modelones nail dehydrator and primer. ☺️🤍
@ thank you! I’ll be catching up on the videos. So much to learn. Appreciate your valuable tutorials 💅
Thank you I hope you find them helpful 🤍
Does this acetone trick work the same for acrylic full cover tips like tipex.????
I have not tried it myself
Im about to order Tipex
Precious ❤. Ty for sharing. I love that technique, specially cause my nails are not to big.
I’m glad you enjoyed it ☺️🤍
@@JourneyswithJai ty, again. God bless your hands
Do I push back my cuticles back before all the prep steps 😊sorry I’m new to doing nails I’ve never had my nails done before.
Hi,
I like you push back my cuticles first and I’m more than happy to help! ☺️🤍
Nice,is that a base coat you are applying to the nail extension
Thank you! It’s the extension adhesive/ gel glue. 🤍
Love your technique
Thank you ☺️🤍
What brand of tips are these?
Is there a certain brand of acetone? Is any polish remover am acetone?
I use pure acetone because some nail removers have essential oils in them, which can create a oily base on the nail.
what lamp did you use?❤️
So you don’t use primer lr base coat? That’s amazing!
I go back and forth with using it but it hasn’t disturbed my sets when I skip it 😊
This is the best tutorial I have seen. Thank you❤
I see you didn’t use an acid free primer and apply a cured gel base coat before you applied the extensions. I have been searching to see if this was possible because base coat gel cure I’m allergic to and am trying to see if I can avoid using it but I’m able to use the acid free primer. So I’m curious if I should just skip the primer too or stick with it now seeing this
Hi,
As a Nail DIYer I have skipped primer and my application lasted great. I now apply primer and Hema free base gel before applying my gel extensions. I’m one try different ways but so far they all have worked. Sorry to hear that you are allergic to your base gel🤍
I notice you didn’t put a layer of the gel on your natural nails like most teach I’m going to try this method I feel ima get better results
How do you keep your shape when polishing I feel like the polish changes my shape
Hi, I recommend applying thin layers of the gel polish. The gel polishes I use are very opaque so I don’t have to put on thick layers. I usually apply about 1 to 2 layers of my gel polish on the nail, and I keep it even thinner along the sides to maintain the shape. 🤍
What's the best opaque gel polish do you use, if I may ask?
I like DND, Beetles, Cre8tions, Born Pretty and OPI just to name a few of my top favs. 🤍
What tips did u use for this one ? Brand/length?
@@PrincesssAngie i think she using the apres sculpted stiletto gel x tips
Evey since watching this I have not used my dip, acrylic out gel lol😂😂😂. I do love my nails thicker so I add about 3 layers of builder gel
We love adding builder gel especially to add strength and thickness 🤍
So beautiful
Thank you so much🌺🤍
Great tips , thank you
Thank you 🤍
These came out bomb 🥰
Thank you so much 🤍
I’m considering getting these instead of acrylic nails, but I’m concerned they won’t hold up well enough with my bootcamp/crossfit style workouts.
Update: I have been wearing Gel-Xgrid a few months and absolutely love it! The retention is better than I expected. I may never go back to acrylic nails again.
@UpAndAtEmAddie Wow! I love to hear that I’m so glad you like them. ☺️🤍
beautiful!!
are they strong? I type and am hard on my hands at home and at work, I need something strong. New Subbie here and great vid!
Thanks for subbing! Gel extensions are very strong but It does vary depending on the brand. Brands like Apres or Not Polish have really strong extensions and with other brands if you have builder gel, you can definitely make them stronger. 🤍
I between all the layers do you cure it at all? Or leave it?
Hi, are you speaking about the gel polish?
Do u got to use base coat got them to last??
Hi, no I typically do not use base coats and they last great 🤍
LOVE your nail sweet and easy to follow tutorial. I would like to see how to safely remove those nails please 😊. Have a good day everyone 🌴🌺👋.
Hi,
Thank you so much for watching, I also have removal videos on my channel 🤍
Hi, what grid is the purple nail file ?
The buffer is 100/180 grit 😊
I noticed you didn't use a base coat. Is that necessary or can we do it without one?
I personally have not had any issues with lifting of my gel polishes without a basecoat, but that can definitely depend on the brand. I would still recommend using a basecoat to be safe.🤍
That nail color is gorgeous!!!!
Thank you ☺️
What do you use to remove the nails when you’re ready to take them off?

@candysydney3620 Awesome! 🤍 and thank you ☺️
i’m curious why you didn’t use a base coat?
In my updated videos I use base coat but not using it didn’t affect the longevity of my sets. 🤍
Do you recommend this for a c curve nail? I have been having problems with press-ons due to my nails having the curve.
They have gel x nail extensions that have more of an apex which fit way better for c curve! The Beetles medium square are my favorites of those
@@sophiagh06 thanks a ton! I’m going to look into that brand. I’ve been struggling to find something at works.
Hii..May I ask if do extension nail at homee how to remove it ya
