    only section where doubling is As of August 30, 2021, Konkan Railway has completed doubling work on the 46.8 km track between Roha (Central Railway) and Veer (Konkan Railway) in the Ratnagiri region.

    Dear Admin, I feel lucky to be part of construction of KRCL (1992- 1998) and lived in Cancona. This route itself is very tough and if Railways had built this line it would have taken at least 25yrs which is similar to connecting JnK with Rest of India. Imagine the adverse conditions of terrains filled with Soft Soil & Red soil, how can a PIER with stand such loads and how come tunnels be operational? This project was completed within span of 8yrs by 1998. Do you know in the initial days locals in Konkan region protested against the railway line and many did not give lands for this project. Please read the book - Konkan Railway: A Dream Come True.

      Connecting j&k was if strategic
      Importance rather than economical.

      Strategic neither economical. Today
      What krcl is doing is much better than
      What IR eiuld have done. Krcl stations
      Are also much neat and clean than IR
      Stations. If construction eork of kokan
      Railway had been given to IR , the
      Project would not have completed by
      Even by 2010, as new IR projects sre
      Alloted as per political clout, less funds
      Would have alloted for konkan rsilway.
      Whereas krcl being a company , there
      Is some sort of accountability which
      Helps smooth running of trains. So one
      Must not compare krcl with IR, as both
      Are different and work differently.

    Partial दुपदरीकरण होऊ शकत आणि कोंकण रेल्वे ने अनेक नवीन स्थानक सुध्दा उभारली आहेत क्रोसिंगचा वेळ कमी करण्यासाठी.. जर दुपदारीकरण करायचे असेल तर नवीन शृंखला तयार करून नवीन गाव जोडणं खूप आवश्यक आहे ... कोंकण रेल्वेचे महत्त्व आता खूप वाढले आहे ह्यात काही शंका नाही आणि भविष्यात भारताच्या विकासासाठी मोलाचे योगदान करेल

      I think KRCL is lot more efficient than railway zones. Because they have to generate their own revenue.

      Totally agree. With modern tunnelling and earth moving machinery, entire stretch from Mumbai to Mangaluru doubling can be completed within 4-5 years. Coastal Karnataka gave enough votes for BJP, but the local leadership is not fighting for infrastructure improvement. Compared to NH-66 expansion that is undertaken in Kerala section, the Karnataka section of NH-66 lacks service roads, overpasses or underpasses, no pedestrian bridges where needed.

    yes . they can doubling in certain sections in uttarakannada afrer sharavathi river up to surathkal in mangalore district. These routes covered in the open land , acquisition and making tracks on these easy for konkan railway.

      doubling of entire section is possible. It would cost around Rs. 20,000 cr. or so. may take 6-8 yrs. But govt priority is for fancy projects.

      These sections should be given priority.

      Bullet train requires track formation in straight line or with minimal curvature.. its very difficult to construct bullet train via Kokan. But I agree Mumbai Goa bullet train can be acheived through different route such as considering costal route. Cost would be enormous though

      ​@@RohanKambli if your not aware Konkan railway has the best track formation and design in India.Its the first track designed for 180 kmph(160 kmph operational).Unfortunenatly because of boudler issue trains are restricted to speeds of 80-120 kmph operational.

    Nothing is impossible. Todays Tunnel Boring Machine is very advanced and Company like L & T, Gammon India, Afcons, Simplex, Ircon can easily finish the doubling project in time.
    The cost will be less than Cost of Bullet rail track between Ahmedabad- Mumbai.
    But many of the opnion that Konkan Railway should be acquired by Indian Railway to execute such projects.
    I don't think Railway Project harms the Forest Area much. Train do not stop in forest area much.
    This will connect Kochi - Goa - Mumbai which is also essential from defense point of view.
    Poor people getting neglected at the cost of Ultra Rich.

    Few ships can be put on this route from Karnataka to Maharashtra
    To transport goods or trucks
    This is easy than building 2nd line
    New platforms can be put in station or new halt stations to park trains and allow movement of other urgent trains

    Unless & until Govt took initiative & allocate special budget to KRCL, doubling is impossible. Land is not an issue for KRCL, but it is a time issue, tunnels + bridges takes long time to construct. Even if they target only Maharashtra + Goa Section congestion will significantly reduce. But for that also they have to target by phases like Veer-Khed, Khed-Chiplun, Chiplun-Sangameshwar, Sangameshwar-Ratnagiri & so on...

    Kya yah possible hai ki ham standard gauge ke track ko use karte hue na hi Konkan railway Bal ke Puri West coast line koi standard gauge mein convert kar le I know it sounds crazy and stupid but agar ham Aisa karte Hain top passengers ko frequently train mil payenge aur time bhi kam lagega because I feel speed will play major role in here aur dheere dheere baki connecting roots ko jo ke Konkan railways se connect Hai jaise ki Panvel to Pune ko is standard gauge may convert karte hue pure Desh ke tracks ko dheere dheere convert Kiya ja sakta hai kyunki kuchh salon bad ya kuchh decades baat yah hona Tay hai yah hone hi wala hai jab logon Ko Apne time ki value pata chalegi aur ham dubbing tripling quatrupling kar rahe hain agar sirf 2 standard gauge ke tracks honge ek up liye ek down ke liye to speed badhegi efficiency.
    Tum logon Ko yah baat samajh mein nahin aati Magar yahi future hai kya lagta hai ki aane Wale 60 se 70 sal ke bad kya log train mein 150 ki speed per travel karne ke liye baitege use tarah to fir vah train avoid hi karenge sidha plane use karege
    Extra track dalne ki jagah Indian railways kyon nahin standard gauge railway tracks dalti isase speed badhegi efficiency aur frequency badhegi jitne paise in tracks ko upgrade karne mein lagne wale Hain unhen paison mein standard gauge ke tracks agar dal de to journey ka time 80% se reduce ho jayega lekin FIR log vahi kahte Hain ki India mein to broad gauge hai connectivity kaise possible ho sakti hai to uske liye mera ek simple sa sidha sa jawab hai ki aap standard gauge dhire dhire dhire convert karte jaaiye sare tracks ko kyunki ham Aaj bhi British ke time ke railway tracks use kar rahe hain jinko hamen kabhi Na kabhi change modify ya upgrade karna hi padega
    Hamane tracks ko broad group se standard gauge mein dhire dhire convert karna hoga jab yah question hota hai tab yahi kahate Hain sab log ki bahut kharcha aayega lekin agar humne aaj se dhire dhire start kar diya to o din dur nahin jab India mein har jagah jaane ke liye standard gauge se 300 ki speed se ham chal sakege aur jo hamare Aaj ki train delay hoti hai ya frequent nahi hoti hai to vah problem khatm ho jayegi aur is chij se hamare desh ki GDP 10x badegi

    The main issue is the bureaucratic delay & budget allocation. Technical issues were more during the initial construction because of unfamiliarity with the terrain & lack of DTBMs at that time. But not all an issue with current level of tunneling technology. And also, in places it is not necessary to connect everything with the current infrastructure. Entirely new section with double line with provision for future expansion can be built for passenger rail & existing infrastructure can be dedicated to RORO.

    Agar kuch duri par alag se railway lines tunnel, bridges banakar usko station se connect kar k us railway track par super fast train chalaya jaaye aur uski tickets price badakar rakhe toh accha hoga. Train jitni speed aur numbers mein chalegi logon ka time save hoga aur uske liye unko thodi high tickets price pay karna mehnga nahi hai. For example agar mumbai to madgaon (goa) distance a.c. trains se 5 to 6 hours mein complete kare toh

    konkan railways is 700 km long straight single route that passes through some of the richest regions in the country .
    The only solution is spending billions and make a few dozen wide tunnels and lay 100's of kilometres of viaduct for maintaining speeds of upto 220kmph on avg and designed to handle upto 250 kmph .
    Just like the planned silver line in kerala ( maybe you could connect it to silver line since silver line will be extended till mangalore) the wider socio economic benifits would easily ouweigh the initial construcion cost .
    The cost will be north of 30 billion usd if done today ig .
    But once constructed they ( the govt ) will not have to worry about konkan railways for half a century .

    Doubling the track is absolutely necessary. India has excelled a lot in Engineering in difficult terrain. In sensitive location, second track may be built at a distance to safeguard present track.

    Konkan rly was the first project connecting difficult hilly areas in India and built as a single track. If a higher capacity connection between Mumbai and marmugao ports is required, it can be built via Deccan cities of Pune, Satara and Belgae .

    They haven't even yet paid us our compensation for our land aquired for the current konkan railwayline. We are still fighting in court.

    Sir ,. Plan start railway projects from BANGALORE to KUNDAPURA Or Udupi directly via tumkuru, Arasikere , and further to Karwar /Goa. Konkan railway tracks are already there from kundapura to . KARWAR to Goa

    By advancement of technology it is not impossible. By line doubling productivity shall multiply several times. Only question is commercial viability and investment for growth and development of said region.

    Make one small Daviation or by pass from sangmeshwar to karanjari (if reqd elevated rly).
    Southward trains will by pass Rgiri Station and reduce traffic congestion at ratnagri.Only trains coming from South will route thr.Rstnagiri. only Mumbai Rgiri shuttle service will ply. Hardly 60km track will solve problem of doubling.KOLHAPUR VAIBHAVWADI will ease traffic in longest width length of Rgiri.

    When Indian British govt laid railway track through Bolan pass it made tunnels wide enough to lay double track, yet it laid single track from Sibi to Abigum some 40 miles only. Konkon should have kept the future requirement in mind and would have made tunnels for double track.

    Wherever possible, between two stations, doubling may be done to avoid crossings, so as to increase trains traffic.

    The government should construct road transport in the first in kokan region. Then double the railway track. And this is not impossible. Indian Railways should take 100% stake and dissolve the Kokan railway. Then Indian railways can easily construct a double track.

    Vizhingam port will have large no of containers to be transferred to northern states. Which is possible through railways. A visionary leadership need to take this as possible task and complete make it triple track and allow all dedicated corridor for container.

    If its not possible to double the railway parallelly, the government could think upon a separate line, so thats effectively double lining is achieved.
    This route is strategically very important.

    Track doubling between Vaibhavwadi road and Madure is possible because no tunnel digging is there and only plains are there distance is approximately 88 km which can be completed in one and half years only! Construction cost can be approximately 300 crores only.

    Doubling bridges in a planned manor will also be helpful. Things have to be in a well planned manor like a piece of puzzle systematically joined. By keeping high value investments of tunneling at the end . Time vs investment for every stretch to be worked out. Dual track should be extended & fully utilized with running trains .

    Major problem with Konkan railway is fund. They don't have enough income to doubling thier track. They were asking Mangaluru station to add in thier division. But Southern railway holds this station. Merge
    Konkan railway with indian railway or as Krcl request handover mangaluru station to krcl.
    They promised in press meet if mangaluru station comes to krcl doubling work will be on Fastrack.
    Currently in this single track more trains running than its capacity.

    मेने 2022 में तिरुवनंतपुरम से दिल्ली राजधानी एक्सप्रेस में इस रूट से यात्रा की थी।मेरे पास इस रूट की उस समय की कई वीडियो भी हैं। भारत में सरकारों द्वारा कोई भी योजना 50 साल के बाद के आकलन पर नहिं बनाई जाती है।यह तात्कालिक मजबूरी को सुलझाने के नाम पर बनाई जाती हैं इसलिए बार-बार परेशानीयां आती है।

    If complete doubling is not possible, at least track from Mangalore Central to Bhatkal may be considered for doubling since no.of bridges and tunnels are minimum.

    If there is will, there will be a way. With all the technical and environmental problems, a solution need to be found to make this entire route two track so that trains can run faster. KR shows the lack of vision and foresight of our planners who cannot see beyond a few years. Railway is doing exemplary work in the border areas under extremely challenging conditions and KR should be a cake-walk for them.

    It's not that not possible.They can split the total project and decide possible routes .This can resolve financial problems. Take up statewise constructions .Let maharashtra state take initiative.Connecting Mumbai is always profitable project.

    Bullet train however difficult is no problem, be it elevated or below ground no issue, as it is not connected with Gujarat.
    If Government wants they can. Besides KR is one of its kind wayback then, something unachievable, but accomplished by manual labour. Today modern technology has made it easy to make Tunnels by using TBM machines besides track layers n many other technology. We want to go better than China, for them nithing is impossible.
