  • ( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2015 Dodge HEMI Charger Pursuit Police car has plenty of power to catch the bad guys. But what happens when the bad guys live way up North? That's when you need the AWD Charger Pursuit car with the HEMI engine. But can this badass cop car put the power to the ice ground.? We recently found out in Montreal, Canada in this ice and chilly TFL AWD Test Track Review.

    It really is too bad that Chrysler insists on leaving this out as an options for civilian purchase. For those of us that live in the north, it would be a nice option. Not that its a necessity with good tires and proper driving.

    The 2015-up Police Pursuit with the V8-5.7 and AWD has the kind of basic vehicle performance I envisioned for a prospective Universal Television police procedural series. But in my native California, the trim ring wigwag on the front headlamps is barely bright enough for a blocking-traffic situation (e.g. a Highway Patrol Police Pursuit stopped athwart a closed road, front reds and blues all steady on, rear traffic advisor alternating center amber with left blue and right red as a pair). Clearing traffic calls for, basically, railroad ditch lamps shooting out of the directional-signal luminaires (13 CCR 818 specifies Class A emergency lights), as the projector headlamps haven't the overspray for the off-axis requirements.
    The exact ELS package I picture for a "shooting" Pursuit is primarily Federal Signal: Spectra-Lux ILS fore and aft (with the rear specially programmed for multicolor versions of standard SignalMaster patterns), Viper SL mirror and nudge-bar lights, custom EIA-485A multicontroller (derived from the SmartSiren Platinum), and e-Q2B-CN amplifier driving a BP200EF on the nudge bar. Fenix Cannons in the directional luminaires would take over the front wigwag duties. Whelen has the searchlamp bulbs, a P46SLR driver-side and P46SLC helper-side; plus dual PAP100 PA/radio-relay amplifiers driving hideaway speakers in the stock fog-lamp nacelles. CHP-standard RockwellCollins touch-screen CDU, ELS controls integrated into a full-custom version of the Dodge R/T sound-system wheel in black with white rim (VOL/SQ, CHAN/DIV, Shift, SCAN, R-AMB/R-RED, F-RED/WW, SIREN, LRC-O, R ALY/L ALY, SPOT/TD), the whole hundred metres.

      I have a 2014 Dodge Charger Police Persuit 5.7L V8 HEMI and its fun as hell to drive. Better front suspension, better transmission, everything upgraded from the civilian version R/T.
      I bought mine from a Police auction in Dallas, Texas with just a bit over 79,000 miles on it and they recently replaced calipers, struts, shocks and tires according to the paperwork because there was a "squeek" reported by the highway patrol officer. Its in excellent condition, drives amazing and leaves everyone in the rear view mirror until you can't see them anymore. I paid $4,000 for it and absolutely love it.

      That really sucks. I picked up the 2014 Hemi AWD Charger here in NY and I absolutely love it!!. When the lease comes up I won't have that choice anymore and will have to drop down to a V6?? After driving a badass V8?? That's bullcrap!! How do you take that CHOICE away from customers?? Dodge left the snow states out in the cold on this one. Really bad idea. I've seen plenty of other AWD Hemi Chargers in NY btw. Hope they bring that option back at some point. I really want to continue leasing Chargers. I will not drop to a V6 Charger as long as I'm out here in NY.

      @dbflexer7320 9 лет назад +1

      James Cecil It's just awful James. Yes you certainly can pick up a Hemi Cherokee. But James it's a Hemi Cherokee! Not a badass Hemi Charger that turns dreamers' heads or makes haters foam at the mouth! James if you can find a used one that is a lease return then think about snapping it up. I love my Charger and it's so freaking intelligent. It engages mandatory AWD drive when the temperature drops below a setpoint. Too many other things to list here. If they don't bring the AWD option back, I may have to keep my Charger. Problem with that is I'll miss out on future tech. It really sucks.

    Most of the larger municipal and state police agencies won't purchase the Hemi V8 due to the maintenance costs and liability issues. Police pursuit guidelines are more strict nowadays and the public relations nightmare of civilians being injured due to a 100 mph vehicle chase aren't worth it.

    • @ivanlowjones
      @ivanlowjones 9 лет назад +3

      baldwinhart Perhaps I should only speak for the State Police agency where I spent 22 years as a Trooper. The legal liability of that much horsepower and speed in a high speed pursuit causing injury or death to the suspect, the officer, or an innocent civilian wasn't worth a Hemi. Imagine the public outcry if an officer is driving in excess of 100 mph, chasing a suspect who ran a stop sign and subsequently crashes. Even though the suspect failed to stop, the public always blames the police department for not allowing the bad guy to flee and escape like nothing happened. Years ago the local city police department chased a motorcyclist on a stolen motorcycle who was speeding and took off instead of pulling over. A chase ensued and the motorcyclist crashed after several miles. He severely injured his leg and it was subsequently amputated. He successfully sued the department for his self inflicted injury and was awarded several hundred thousand dollars in a settlement.
      And that's why we don't buy Hemi's.

    • @aronjohn84
      @aronjohn84 9 лет назад

      J High I agree with you to at point Hemi I believe you need a bigger engine to keep up but. at the same time you should know when to call it quits.

    • @supporterofsanity
      @supporterofsanity 8 лет назад +1

      Even the standard V6's go high 130s. Afraid to go over 100? So in the example you gave was the officer driving 135-150 which would be the speed a Hemi could take the cruiser over the V6? People think the Hemi is like a rocket with spears attached to a car. It's not, it's just stronger feeling but it sure isn't scary or awe inspiring. The cruiser is operated just like any of our other equipment, according to policy. We have vehicle operations policies just like Taser and firearms and computers for that matter. The AWD option is what drew us to the Hemi. I'd call off a pursuit at speeds below the top of either of the engines max. We have shown the Hemi to get slightly better economy compared to the V6 in 80/20 city biased operation.

    • @pkranz937
      @pkranz937 7 лет назад

      supperterofsanity agreed, and with bid price reduction in mid-2016, AWD and the Hemi isn't much more than a RWD V-6.
