Thank you Ghast. To be honest, the reason why I got into Yoder/Jodel is because of you. How he managed to have interesting supports, and how much meaning is behind all of them.

Edward Schmidt Niime has 10+ warp range right or is it 20+?
This is something I REALLY want in the newer Fire Emblem games, proper old characters, and proper young ones. Ever since they introduced S ranks into the game, the games got so focused on marrying characters that the cast became quite a bit less diverse, and actual friendships with the opposite gender are not even possible (Like how Xander can not reach A+ with Elise and Camilla for some reason). And even when we do get an old character like Gunther, we can still marry him for some reason? (I don't find the age gap to be messed up, I find it messed up because HE IS THE MAN WHO RAISED YOU!)
I actually really like the S rank system, and finding the perfect pair for two characters is a joy I cannot put into words. So I hope they keep it in later installments, that said, with the presence of characters that can only marry the Avatar, it begs the question of "why they can't have more supports?" They get only one extra support and that is if they are lucky!
An example is Shura who is one of my favorite characters from Fates... There is no good reason as to why he can't have supports with Elise and Azura! Isn't one of the core parts of Elise's character is that she believes in the good of everyone? Especially criminals? Then why can't she talk to the actual criminal in your army who is having doubts about his own humanity? Hell, not only would it be good from a narrative perspective, but from a gameplay one too! If the two reach A+ with each other, then Shura could re-class into a Butler which fits his play style quite well, and Elise could re-class into the outlaw line which has skills that would be very helpful to her! And the fact that Shura cannot support Azura is complete lunacy to me. He kidnapped her when she was a child! She is a living example of Shura's misdeeds, and your telling me these two have absolutely nothing to say to each other?!
I really hope we get a game that has a good chunk of units that can marry each other, but also has a chunk of the cast who are already on a set path in their life and don't need to marry anybody. Especially as these characters tend to be the most interesting, and should have a range of supports equal to the rest of the cast. And to have more characters like Yoder who can interact with the younger members of the cast in a way that no other character can, as well as more kid characters (I don't really count Ricken and Hayato), who are exposed to the war at too young of an age, and need the consolation of the other units, and yet have a childish optimism to them that can inspire the other members of the army. If the game could reach such a balance, I think we would have something truly fantastic, at least when it comes to supports.
Fates really dropped the ball in having non-S supports. Even Awakening had those
A+ supports are purely for class changing not for narrations. Xander doesn't need A+ from Camilla.
Ricken, Hayato, Elise, Naoyi are basically kid characters from their behaviors.

Not having any relevant supports is just a bad idea.
FireIcarus Fates does have non-S supports but mainly between characters with same gender. On the other hand, Awakening has only one non-S support between Male and Female characters.
Someone actually made a fanmade Shura and Elise support. Look it up here on RUclips, it's great.
Even Niime/Nimue is a deep character in her own, in fact despite her mastery of the elder magic and the consequent price she had to pay for it, she still managed to preserve part of her humanity unlike Bramimond and Nergal. Still her supports shows the conflict between the darkness she accepted in herself (when she tries to curse and possibly kill Fa her or her stubborness when she insists that her descedants keep practicing elder magic despite its risks) and the humanity she has left (when she stops herself from hurting Fa, when she speaks with pride of her late son Canas and his wife and finally when she admits that she always cared about Hugh her grandson).

i think a good one you could do is bartre in both games. he has some surprising depth and is one of the few characters to develop between games with out being a lord

I'm so glad you finally did I character from one of the FE games I've actually played so I can fully enjoy this series. This video gave me a better appreciation for Yoder who I've always liked but never given much thought to. All five of the support conversations were really interesting and you had some really interesting insight at some points. Never stop doing this series and if you're taking requests may I recommend someone from FE7 (maybe Serra)

With games like fire emblem with a focus on gameplay and a big cast of characters is very easy to overlook gems like this. As someone who finds support as a very big part of his enjoyment of playing fire emblem, I really appreciate this kind of videos and all the passion and effort put into them.
Now I feel bad for never using Yodel. I have to say that his support with Silver Wolf is my favourite. And Ghast I hope your next support science is on Ross, Amelia or Ewan. They're among my favourite characters from FE8.

I love your Support Science series! I may disagree with some of your opinions on the FE franchise, but I like the way you analyze the characters' thoughts, feelings, backgrounds, and traits based on how they interact.
PLEASE keep making these. These have been really fun to watch, and gave me a reason not to dislike Tits McAxe from Fates. They've been really great, though. Keep it up.

I'd like to see a Charolette analysis. I never really bothered with her but from your Nyx video, it made me curious about some of her other conversations.
Treck's supports are also gold. People often remember as an inferior Lance, but God, literally all of his supports are him slacking around and making people happy for being so carefree.
Like in Miledy support. Miledy confessez about being worried about being a Bern native and how the rest of the party might feel to her about it, but Treck was like "Oh, you're a Bern Native. Cool" Seemingly uninterested while dozing back to sleep.
When he was asked about the things that make him worry, he stated about some weird dreams he had like that one time he dreamt he was a horse. This made Miledy laugh and thanked him for it.
(Fe6 had a lot of bland support conversations, but there are tons of really good ones. Fe7 had its share of bland supports, too, like Hector and Florina and Priscilla and Guy, etc etc)
Gosh, I want to see you do Niime now since she's my favourite character :P

you should do devdan next he works as a fairly good older character as well as playing off all the characters in just different enough ways that you never quit know how it will play out, he is a bit low on supports though.
I would like to see you compare the Awakening trio's Fates and Awakening appearances, to see how they matured during the time between.

really good video, ive definately overlooked Yodel. However im not going to lie you made fe 6 sound like trash, at least support wise. There are some very good characters with decent supports outside of Yodel, and while fe 6s gameplay is known to be the reason to play the game, it still has an enjoyable cast with some dark and sad backstories.
Also PLEASE do Astore. He is a great character and that Igrene support is a heartbreak.
The ending conclusion with Yoder is... quite tragic. I never got far in FE6; I struggled FE6's difficulty and still fumble versus FE7, Awakening, and a chunk of Conquest with relative ease.
On top of that, Support grinding to a DEAD halt - point limit per chapter. And supports were unsatisfying as you alluded to in FE6 in general. Tragic I can't help but feel this void of under appreciation Yoder had this whole time before you covered it. The spotlight he deserved for plenty time,

I definitely think having well written static characters, like Yoder, greatly help develop the dynamic ones. One of the cooler parts of Fire Emblem's character design is how this plays into their actual unit design.
I'm a big fan of the wise old man archetype. The writers did a good job with his character. He's probably my favourite in Binding Blade.

I actually think FE6 was marketed towards an older audience than FE7, not a younger one. Forms of media that are geared towards children and adolescents tend to be character-driven, and the Blazing Blade is more concerned with the characters and their experiences than events occurring outside of their group. On the other hand, FE6 is far more plot driven, focused on the grand scale of the conflict more than its individual players.
Yoder's supports are fantastic, and while the one with Niime is personal, the others resonate in a much broader sense, perhaps even with the gamer himself.
yeah,fe7 is basicly just kids(including not thinking about the story not being well written)and fe6 is a mix(mature enough and eventdriven enough for older people while also having enough simple elements and characters to be neat for kids too). i kinda wish the game was better gameplaywise,it was even forward thinking enough to place the tutorial in a nonoffensive way

heroes gives me a lot of hope, every time i open up an official nintendo game and it mentions "the blade of binding" by name in the game it tells me nintendo is aware that fe fans know very well who roy and the cast are and they still want the western audiances to experience the roots of the franchise really hope this game gets a translation to be released on the 3ds virtual console

His resistance stat is comically high.
He singlehandedly drained the Bolting of that one Sage guarding Murdock in the chapter you get him in.

there are some pretty minimalistic supports in there,but they still do their job. the supportlist is actually really impressive in quality considering there are so many of them
