I would say the same I mean it needed more magic, more characters, more structured storyline and most of all MORE nostalgia from the 80s. Personally for me it's not 80's enough besides the music and such.
Yea, after how excellent the first two films in the trilogies endings were made it such a disappointment. I liked maxxxine, but easily my least favorite and I more admire the style of the film than anything else. The buildup was decent enough, but the ending as you said just didn’t hit like it should have.
So it’s not like the other films? That’s crazy if it isn’t pearl and x went together best ending same sence to both movies now I don’t wanna watch maxxxine
@@cuditae it’s still worth a watch, especially if you liked the other two films. It’s not a terrible ending, and I did find the film overall well shot with some good scenes. At first, I also thought it was strange, but after I thought about it, that’s exactly how an 80s horror movie would end. Especially the sequels. They felt bland, underwhelming, or like a different movie, but they could be entertaining. If that’s what he was going for then he succeeded with this film in every way. It’s a perfect rendition of an 80s horror movie or sequel from beginning to end. The only thing it didn’t have that 80s horror had a lot of was an open ending.
There are not many movies that can get away with so blatantly referencing Psycho. Somehow, they pulled it off here. Even though I have to say that the reveal of the father and the complete final act were a little underwhelming. To conclude, this one is probably the weakest in the trilogy. But still a great movie and loads of fun. Which speaks to the overall quality of this trilogy.
@wackymarmar yeah. that's why we're sad about the way they executed the final act/the reveal. it was extremely underwhelming. they had so much foundation, so much you could do with the religious gone deadly plot, especially since Maxine deliberately rebelled against God. maybe I'm just too in love with Ethel Cain and toxic religious imagery, but it really was leading up to something magnificent.
I think that, up until the point where she suddenly gives a shit about other people and goes to the house it is alright. But her going in the hills makes no sense, it seems like they needed her here and rushed a reason
i feel like its also super hard to connect with the other films, deadass they probably sat in the room thinking who will be the antagonist thise time.
