We still haven't taken him out to eat in GR yet for fear of a newborn meltdown. 😉🤣 But we are thinking of starting with a roadtrip before we jump right into flying with babe. You guys make it look so easy! Keep on rocking the parenting thing! It's inspiring me! 🙂
@@amandarumsey686 I think we took Scotland out to eat at 1 week old.. I still remember the look on the hostess's face when we told her she was only 1 week old. Yes, it can be done. You'll be surprised how forgiving people are when they see the baby. Everyone's heart just melts looking at a newborn. and if they do get upset.. Screw them! having a baby is normal and a part of life. My advice, Rip the bandaid off, go to your favorite restaurant, have a nice meal and a few drinks. Take a bottle and stroller with you. If they get hungry, just shove the bottle in his mouth.. We've found bottle feeding in a restaurant is much easier than breastfeeding. 😀
MY HOMETOWN...However, where outside coffee and ELK are is NOT EGR it's called Wealthy Street Corridor...additionally, the Halmark of City Built is that it is owned by people of color and features a menu rooted in Puerto Rican culture.
Yes I was going to say outside coffee is not in East Grand Rapids, EGR is a separate entity entirely. I’m surprised more folks from GR didn’t correct this! GR is a destination, EGR is a pass.
Come back to Frederick Meijer Gardens in April, when your little lovie is old enough to enjoy it. They have thousands of butterflies in the greenhouse all month.

We took her to the tropics in St. Thomas and Cancun, and then we had a beer fueled weekend in Columbus, Ohio where we pretty much did what you both did in Grand Rapids. Baby travel is different, for sure, but so fulfilling. You are making some incredible memories with your new family.
@@micalebgoeswest You're right.. our babies are living similar lives.. I love it!! Baby travel is so much fun. You just have to be much more flexible. We've found that until she's a little bit older we have to be careful with weather. Too many times we've been caught outside in 85+ weather and she gets too hot and starts to get fussy. Once in AC she's her normal self.

I was born and raised here and love the total vibe. Grand Haven is gorgeous if you haven't been there, so close to GR. There is always so much to do in GR, so many cultural venues and events, concerts etc. If you're into steak, you'll have to go to The Chop House. SHOUT! I've lived in G.R. most of my life so at 54, I've seen the city change in sooo many ways, too many to list. That said locals like me forget how much there is to explore in G.R. as the city continues to grow. Heck, a 12k seat amphitheater is going up right next to the Grand River in a couple years. If you can have that plus the 15k capcity Van Andel arena and keep them both busy, you're a highly anticipated growing city. While myself, have to get downtown more often I hope I won't miss the other luxuries of being a mid size metropolitan city.
Grand Rapids isn't a town of 1.4 million people!! It's actually over 200,000 maybe but the metro area is a little over a million including the county and suburbs. But still, a nice size downtown and lots of breweries and restaurants. A great place to live and only a half hour or so from Lake Michigan.

Bob closed down just before new years as they were expecting to sell it. The sale never went through and now the original owner is preparing to reopen this fall right in time for Art Prize.
Tell me you didn't go to founders without having a KBS. Just hassling you. Did you notice however most of the breweries you visited had atleast one large BBA stout? Beer drinkers in grand rapids love there strong beers. We've been drinking KBS & dragons milk for ten years.
Great video - despite some of these frankly hilarious comments (some very salty people who won’t go to a city because of the politics of who runs it 🤦♂️), it looks like a great place. Outside of the States, the US tends to have a terrible reputation for beer ( looking at you Budweiser and Coors 🤮) so it’s good to see some decent breweries!

Agreed. Lived in GR for most of my adult life. After the riots in 2020 my wife and I moved west towards the lakeshore to get away from the craziness. They were setting cars on fire and beating people up in the street right in front of my house. Sad because GR had been improving so quickly up until that point.

Come on, I live in the GR area but the ballot box must be stuffed by votes from West Michigan. No way it finishes ahead of St. Louis, Milwaukee etc. I know those are also the home of the huge beer makers and that makes them uncool, but there's no comparison.
I've lived my whole life in michigan..but not dump (grand) rapids!..me and others now will apologize for this dump of a town in our beautiful state. They think because they built a couple hospitals and a bunch of bars they got a cool town..one of the worse walkable cities..bad design crappy shallow river..elevated highways..bad design. Save your money and time for a better city
You obviously don't live in Michigan. Because you'd realize there's many, many other cities in Michigan that are much bigger dumps than GR. Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Lansing, Battle Creek, Benton Harbor, etc. pretty much all the major cities are bigger dumps than GR. In fact West Michigan is what keeps the entire state from being called a dump, and I grew up in the Detroit area.
Grand Rapids is such an underrated city. Truly a hidden gem.

Come on, I live in the GR area but the ballot box must be stuffed by votes from West Michigan. No way it finishes ahead of St. Louis, Milwaukee etc. I know those are also the home of the huge beer makers and that makes them uncool, but there's no comparison.
Grew up and went to college in Milwaukee, then lived in GR for ten years. Milwaukee is all talk. GR is the real deal.

I've lived my whole life in michigan..but not dump (grand) rapids!..me and others now will apologize for this dump of a town in our beautiful state. They think because they built a couple hospitals and a bunch of bars they got a cool town..one of the worse walkable cities..bad design crappy shallow river..elevated highways..bad design. Save your money and time for a better city
You obviously don't live in Michigan. Because you'd realize there's many, many other cities in Michigan that are much bigger dumps than GR. Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Lansing, Battle Creek, Benton Harbor, etc. pretty much all the major cities are bigger dumps than GR. In fact West Michigan is what keeps the entire state from being called a dump, and I grew up in the Detroit area.
