Can you do this with a schylling harmonica? I got one for Christmas and it doesn’t have a key on it either. It’s not the red and white one it’s the silver red and gold one. I play trumpet and figured I could learn harmonica as long as I learn the notes but there isn’t clear notes on the harmonica

I have a great tutor and it’s going well, lot to learn , but learned a lot including how to read music. Always wanted to have a go, and likewise the harmonica. I have followed you a while and really enjoy your videos and teaching style. Just received my Hohner special C and it sounds great. I am already playing the train rhythm......including the whistle!!! I have practiced 3 hours a day on my guitar since I started learning. I plan to practice the same on the harmonica too. I practice in blocks to stay alert and focused. As a woodwind player, it's so unusual for me to inhale like this. I'm really used to quick and deep intake and then slow and calculated release. But for the harmonica, both need to be very deliberate. It's really fascinating, even if it's gonna be a struggle to get used to it. Had a lot of fun! Thanks so much 😊
Christmas Day, my dad gave me an dual sided Echo harmonica he brought from Germany in 1967. One side is in the key of C, the other is in G. It has a lot more holes than 10. It has 24 on each side. Holding it the same way you say to hold it, my fingers nearly cover half the length of the harmonica. I absolutely love the feel of the vibrations as I play it. 1960's German harmonica makers made quality products.

@@73roken changed to a lee oskar in C, found I had better results, I dont know why, and now useing a lee oskar low D, it seemed as though I was not getting very far but it was like it all just clicked into place suddenly one day, good luck with your learning, keep at it, it's fun, you dont need to be an expert just enjoy yourself.

Wow im glad i saw this. Just a few days ago out of the blue i decided that i wanted to try harmonica. i asked my partner what instruments to you want to try? he said piano, steel drums, and guitar. i brought up ukulele and he said that some people do like to try that first to warm up to guitar so im getting him one. then i gotta spoil myself and get something too so in instantly thought of harmonica. some part of me felt like it might be somewhat easier then some other instruments but also live in my car so i have limited options lol. but watching beginner videos has me excited for it especially the part about breathe work too. thats what ive been needing to work on for a while.... thanks for the video and cant wait to watch the others.
This is the 3rd tutor I've found and by far the best. That's lesson 1 done. I'll be practicing daily. I decided on harmonica 1 because it sounds amazing and 2 got diagnosed as asthmatic. 2 for 1 deal. I'll improve my breathing and sound cool in a few months. Win win haha. They come with a small manual which could teach you a few simple tunes like “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and “London Bridge.” I recommend getting a harmonica in the key of C, as most songs are in the key of C. There’s also a ton more free tutorials for the C harmonica, compared to the other harmonicas. The website I use for learning new music is HarpTabs, it’s great.

I find this fascinating! I'm totally ignorant to the harmonica, but I imagine it hard to teach when you can't see in someone's mouth playing it vs piano keys that we can see and copy. My father was a monster playing the harmonica, but sadly I never got the story of how he learned before he passed. He would just grab it and make beautiful music, and it was normal just to listen. I wish I showed more interest back then, and asked to he taught. I envy those who can play this instrument. I tried to copy him, but slobbering all over it! Lol.. thank you for teaching!!!

I recommend Hohner Special 20 (or a harp of eqivalent price from Suzuki, Seydel, Lee Oskar). There are cheaper harps but they are less responsive and so it's a false economy.

i'm a teen, and playing the harmonica is so bizarre to me compared to normal instruments, but it's extremely fun and it seems not too hard to learn

Hi Liam, whats a good beginner harmonica to learn the basics … something not very expensive
I recommend Hohner Special 20 (or a harp of eqivalent price from Suzuki, Seydel, Lee Oskar). There are cheaper harps but they are less responsive and so it's a false economy.
