so when you are blowing into the hermonica are you actually saying tacka like you are saying in the vid or just making sure that your mouth is having that shape. Really loving your vids
Hi Liam my name is Pixie I’m 10 years old i just started practicing i found a harmonica in an old jewlrey box so I’m learning to play now your videos are awesome keep it up also i play alto sax for 5th grade band and guitar private lesssons i love. Making music thank you😊
I love the parts where you show off because they give me something to work towards, something to imagine. Likewise with the mindset regarding how playing music should feel to create!!
I started to learn the guitar in January last year, I've got to the point where I'm really enjoying it and I can manage most of the chords even with arthritis in my left hand. So I thought I could learn a new instrument this year, at 73 I've got to keep the brain going. John 😊
Thrash/death metal guy here. I'm teaching the little wife how to play guitar. She loves tom petty. So I'm teaching her the tom petty songs. So guess what I have to learn now? Yep. The ole harmonica. Gonna be honest here..... I was like.... oh it'll be stupid easy .... its just a tiny harmonica. Oh how deep the rabbit hole goes. It's a very deep and satisfying instrument. Definitely takes some skill. I'm on my 3rd day playing with it. My lip feels a little raw from single note practice...but I fucking love it. So thanks for the lessons buddy.
You are an Excellent instructor. I’m fortunate to have found your channel. This is my second lesson and because of how you take your time to teach, I find myself learning. To my surprise because I have absolutely no rhythm and have never been able to learn an instrument, but, to hear the sound improve as I practice I’m over the moon with joy. Thank you for sharing. Be well.
This is an epic program you got goin on here, i hope i can keep going through all the lessons, glad to say that I can do decently at this one because i play drums and guitar a lil bit, so coming up with and catching onto beats isn't a huge problem for me. Thanks for takin the time to make these videos!
09/02/2022 I bought a second hand harmonica and now I'm practicing it with you 😇 Thank youuuu. I hope after years of practicing it will be worth it. ❤️
Thanks a lot for these lessons. I really like that you gave use some very direct instructions but also encouraged creativity and showed us different ways that we can switch it up
I like doing “DOO-tikka” on the draw and “DOO-takka” on the blow and the “Doo” is a little louder and twice as long as the “talks” and “tikka”. Like 1/4 notes to 1/8 notes. I’m only on day 4 and f my journey and it’s coming nicely. I can event the 3 draw 3 semi tones, although it’s choked off. I can get the 4 hole draw bend nicely but I was told 3 is the “money hole “. 😁 Great videos brother love it
I am just starting with you now after having my fathers harmonica my whole life. It is a Hohner Bravi Alpini in C, and G and it must be from about 1959 and I’m so excited to play it.
I just got a harmonica for Christmas and I am looking for a RUclips teacher. You have a lot of competition but I like the way you teach and I like the illustration of the harmonica with the red and blue lights. That is very helpful.
There are metronomes here on RUclips ~ i personally find them usefull, to keep the rythm….they start at 1 bpm (bpm = beat Per minute) and up….i’ve played 1 week and is practicing my breathing… Dunno if its true, but smokers lungs are fucked up, so the breathing part, May take a bit longer to control (hope its a myth ‘cours i smoke 20 sticks a day) I use Metronome from --> drumset fundamental, here on youtube Love your videos mate….cheers from Denmark❤️❤️
My grandfather got me a harmonica many years ago, yesterday would have been his birthday. The harmonica has sat in the box for years. Perhaps i should learn to use it
I'm going to try this soon I can play tabs quite well according to the people who've heard me play but I am very bad at improvising I think this will help me thank you.
Guys, hear me out, my father bought an armonica for each of my siblings, me, and himself, but none of us know how to play it... And I'm apparently the first out of us four to actually try to learn it
I want to learn and have bought my harmonica but don’t want to practice in front of my husband so I am limited in my practice time. Silly I know but am too self conscious and feel I will be annoying. Any tips?
Hi Andrew, as I say in the video you’re just flicking the tongue so you’re making the shape of a “tucka tucka” but not vocalising it. It’s the tongue stopping and starting the airflow which gives the articulation. Hope this helps!
thank you for your lessons! I love the more structured approach so far, and it's also the right amount of informations a day1 beginner can take in my opinion. If I may, I'd have a question. How likely is it that my C hohner 20 special that just arrived by amazon needs some fixing? I'll explain: I get the very same sound when I breathe in on the first 3 holes, but to get the same sound of yours while blowing I need to change to holes 2 to 5. I tried breathing stronger, I tried with just a whisper of air, and I also tried closing the 4th hole with a finger to be as sure as I can it's not a mistake on my end (altho, this being my very first day, I'm 99% missing something here).
Glad you like the lessons! I'm 99% certain it's down to technique because it almost always is. The most important thing to do is trust what you hear more than what you see - if you think you're hitting hole 2 but it sounds like hole 1, you are hitting hole 1. It's very common for beginners to think they're one hole away from where they actually are, because you can't really see the harmonica properly as you put it to your mouth.
I have from a young age had the base notes on my Right & the higher notes on my Left as you look at the harmonica. Does this matter,as old habits die hard?
It's not a problem as long as you get it to sound right. Some notable players - e.g. Paul Buttefield, Lee Sankey - play "upside down" and sound awesome.
Welcome to the world of harmonica! It's never too late to take up a new challenge. It's easy to get simple sounds with the harmonica, but it takes a long time to master. I have faith in you, give it a go 👍

Day 1 Harmonica: I think I have problems breathing in😮💨😵Thanks for the video!!!!
I want to learn and have bought my harmonica but don’t want to practice in front of my husband so I am limited in my practice time. Silly I know but am too self conscious and feel I will be annoying. Any tips?
What in the world is this tuka tuka!?!? Am I talking into this thing, breathing, or blowing? I couldn't be more lost in desert.
Hi Andrew, as I say in the video you’re just flicking the tongue so you’re making the shape of a “tucka tucka” but not vocalising it. It’s the tongue stopping and starting the airflow which gives the articulation. Hope this helps!
We are using a 'C' Harmonica for these lessons. Correct?
Yes that's correct
Hi, what's the right bpm on the metronome to start with?
the video used 70bpm
Tuga tuga good beat
How many holes, your harmonica?
How can I buy this exact one?? I don’t want to wait too long for shipping, I’m in Nigeria
10 holes (Hohner Special 20)
Could you show the music useing the what key and when playing show the notes using arrows
Awesome Liam, Thank you. will hook into programme once harp arrives. We here in NZ have just been locked down so that type of item is not deliverable😒
thank you for your lessons! I love the more structured approach so far, and it's also the right amount of informations a day1 beginner can take in my opinion.

Thanks for these great lessons. Do you have the song A SUMMER PLACE by PERCY FAITH. Thanks.
Not yet but I'll check it out. Thanks for watching! :)
My grandparents gave me a harmonica they’ve had lying around (still packaged) since 1984
Pass it to your grandkids
I was watching free Willy while drinking wine and bought a harmonica.
Amazing! Hope you're keeping it up!
oh really
I can't do what you do like I do the taka taka but I can't do the new one
Sill have a question about the ta-ka, it's a outward ta-ka en the a weird ta-ka while breathing in, right?
Hi Marc, yes you're making a TA-KA shape on the draw, then the same on the blow, on a loop.
Could you recommend type of harmonica just for pop song ?thankyou
I teach a lot of pop songs on RUclips using a normal diatonic harmonica (e.g. Hohner Special 20)
I have46 yrs but am at a stable mate I feel.i should be better than where I am
Subtitle in french please 🙏🥺
Is it ever to late to learn something I'm in my 30s cause of my disability harmonica seems like the easiest instrument to learn
Welcome to the world of harmonica! It's never too late to take up a new challenge. It's easy to get simple sounds with the harmonica, but it takes a long time to master. I have faith in you, give it a go 👍
Find it hard to do I few quick notes literally started yesterday peeps .. lose my rhythm
Ha
I’m really getting on my mom’s nerves
🤣🤣🤣
