- So I was surfing the youtube until I stumbled across a video name The Duality of RUclips by FING There's a segment of a youtuber name Mallika.
Mallika revealed the darker side of youtube where she also revealed how some roasters used to manipulate the audience in the name of roasting, the roasting genre destroyed her career mental health and also it affected on her IRL life too, but that just one victim! I went digging found two more victims who also faced this TOXIC INDIAN ROASTING.
Let's explore the darker side of RUclips and find out how these roasters used to manipulate the audience.

roasting was unique in India but soon it became a toxic culture, mostly viewers of this gerne are minors. creators know that but still they use the most impropriate language and say it's a funny joke, imagine cursing someone's mother and calling it a joke its terrible.

The so called "dark humour" in Instagram comments made me watch this video... The reality today is seriously disgusting and we wonder why assualt is increasing... It's the mindset.. insta has made this disgusting mindset a normality. Honestly sad.
The negativity and hate is really really too much to handle. You can't defend anyone or else you will be called a s*ut or a wh*re. I just deactivated my accounts and that was for the best.

So called dark humour is truly the fakest cover up for assaulting people. @@sigmamale3935 whenever I see Indian creators especially in Movies, Gaming, Anime I usually just put them in don't ever recommend. Mostly because they spread misinformation or just give surface level info that could be found anywhere. Not to mention instead of giving an unbiased report they put their opinions in it. Like how PJ explained praise a movie for having sexual content, how most of gaming community in India is only playing online shooters.

Sadly, back in 2017 I was one of those kids who used to abuse Mallika just because she was roasted by my so-called favourite roasters and I was just 14 lol...Years went by and I realised the hell she went through and the shit she had to bear and I can't help but feel disgusted with myself for being influenced by such mfs who make abusive content on underage individuals for views. Just like her, I reformed myself and the content I watch....More strength to the girl..She has dealt with these people bravely and I am proud of her.

roasting is just a cover up for bullying. People get bullied for being "cringe". If you make a dance video, singing video, acting video you are bullied. If you are a man who looks feminine or a women who looks masculine, you get bullied. If you are gay you are bullied. You get bullied based on your appearance, skin tone, religion. India is great isn't it. I have always hated the "roasting culture" it promoted that, "if you are verbally abusive, then you are cool" and that's what the young generation did and now people are saying, "Aaj kal ke bacche bhi nah....."

Teens nowadays are corrupt in their minds and I say that because I am 16 myself and I hear my classmates discussing how they’d gra’pe all the girls in the class. When I heard them I told them to stop making these disgusting comments in the name of “joke” they told me that I am gay if I don’t think the same so I went and told the principal about how they were making unacceptable remarks about girls. They got suspended for a month but on the second day they corned me after school and started beating me I knocked a boy down but they ganged up on me and then kicked me for 15 mins.

Same. I also used to watch these when i was a brainless ctya, ff khelne wala kid. I still feel regret and sometimes blame to environment that no one was there to help me. But in reality there were people sharing positivity. It was my fault i didn't have interest. but since i started working on myself. i can guarantee that the one thing i changed about myself that I started consuming positive contents in free times. I unknowingly stopped watching stand up comedy, gaming, insta scrolling etc. When you're busy you never waste time on things that aren't useful to you at all. I don't know, how people will think about me when i share this. But yeah, I want to be honest to myself.

Needed video. Much needed. Someone had to speak up. More people need to speak up. The internet feels like the hunger games. A circus. For one to be made clown of, and others to laugh and tear that clown out from the costume, and then apart from their sanity. And these masses never realize that once this clown has bored the audience, one among them will be picked.

As a younger person, i have always been exposed to this kind of 'content' rather than actual quality content (like your video for instance), it was very easy for me to have this kind of mindset, but luckily i came out as a better person.
Im proud to say I'm neither homophobic nor sexist. I am not rascist, neither do i bodyshame.
And its only because of the fact that rather than hopping on a trend and watching these videos in 2020 (i was 9 at that time), i looked at both the sides and then at Saiman's videos and that one Dhruv Rathee video.

This video was soo well made. You showed exactly hkw toxic the roasting genre in india actually is. As a early teen i used to watch these roasting videos however i slowly came tomto realise it was affecting me negatively and thus i stopped. However watching this video today i realised this whole bullying in the name of roasting was far more scary then what i had thought it to be. I as a 12 -13 year old wasn't aware enough of how these videos would affect the people who were the subject of these videos. I am glad that more people are now aware of the difference between roasting and straight up harrasing someone.

This needed to be said. Its been more than 10 years since this horrible genre took off in India. Its time for people to move on.
Idk why this video was recommended to me because this is neither the type of content I watch nor I want to. I only know Carry out of all these people and I'm shocked to see that people can behave and react this way to a complete stranger they had never met. One roasting video brings 100 more reaction and reply videos to that point that becomes toxic. And on top of that what's with the vulgar language?! Do they think it makes them cooler? Very rarely do I come across videos like these, that directly take a stand against people , especially of such reach and fan base. Still remember a few years back when roasting videos were running rampant (e.g, during the tiktok ban), and the dehumanising content took me aback , roasting someone who's different from the mass, it never felt any less than bullying to me. In a world where we so strongly oppose bullying and ragging , you'd think people would feel some type a way before consuming such contents, but oh well

in short, video quality, content, editing, music selection and all the sound design... everything is top notch, loved it

most of the RUclipsrs also accept that in their initial years, they used to cuss because that would get them views now that they have views they do not curse that much, defaming someone to get views is what is being done by these roasting channels.

The time when this type of content was surfacing & was at its peak, it mostly reached minors. I used to have a huge group of friend back then, and i never saw the appeal for this content. My friends made me feel like i was worthless and not cool at all just because i didn't listen to the same abusive raps or youtubers mentioned in this video. I wasn't accepted in my toxic friend group anymore because i had different preferences. I used to watch beastboyshub. He also released a few videos like this, but he has shown a lot of improvement as a person overall and which is why i still cherish him to this day. I tried to consume the same hateful content, but fortunately, it wasn't just for me so i went my way. Today, i am in a much better place unlike those people i used to call friends, i don't speak to them anymore since they believe in spreading hate by hurting others and calling it a joke. This could have taken a huge toll on my mental health as a minor but i will always be grateful to myself for not bending to this kind of content. Please do not let minors have unsupervised access to internet. This type of content reached it's peak all because of the hype it had among MINORS and ILL MINDED ADULTS around the same minors. A huge hats off to this youtuber for calling out the indian roasting community, thank you for spreading awareness!

You know what's the worst part? None of them are actually funny. The reason why their "roasts" offend the people they're aimed at is primarily bcoz they're not witty and pretty unoriginal. They're meant for 12-15 year olds who find their cliched jokes amusing. I swear to God if they were funny and creative their targets would find them a lot less offensive because you cannot be mad at a joke that makes you laugh even if you're at the receiving end of it.

He overused the background music so much to the point it started coming off annoying. You can't even hear the video he's putting on most of the time.
His efforts are seen through the editing but most of them are unnecessary, like do you seriously need to do this 21:22, can't we have the video stay at one place and not have that pop-up sound effect whenever you put some pictures or change the scene.
