I don't often re-watch any movie , its very rare but when its a Govinda movie i just cant resist , yesterday only i watched Haseena Maan Jayegi and it was hell of fun to watch , Govinda is one of the very few actor whose movie is Rewatchable anytime with anyone , FAMILY/GF/Frens/etc , Govinda downfall has disappointed his fans like me , mostly 90s kid and parents . Govinda needs to do something like Jolly LLB to make a comeback. He is great at dialogue heavy roles, so it will be fun to watch something like a courtroom drama with Govinda in the lead. He can also start working in web series. He can also do roles highlighting corruption in govt. offices etc...

He is a perfect example of how a person who belong to humble background, know the reality of glamor but when they become successful gradually they forget about the reality and lost in glamour.All this after knowing everything but forgot in mist of success.
If Govinda gets a movie like Stree 2 or something, he can definitely make a comeback. Only thing is, he should leave his ego, he should respect people & their time and he should act like he's starting his career. He should try to be the stand out in the movie and should have a very pivotal role in the movie. Only then something can happen. Plus the songs. Govinda was heavily typecast in his movies. His music was mostly by Anu Malik and he was directed the most by David Dhawan. It'd be difficult for his dance style and moves to resonate with the people of this era, even if such a music was made now.
One more reason of his current failure is his wife who also happens to be his manager. She is the one choosing projects for him and by choosing I mean rejecting all the good scripts because she cant let her hubby be a character actor.

I think Govinda is not doing one thing which everyone is doing- stepping out of the comfort zone. Kartik aryan, known for his chocolaty boy roles, has also done dhamaka, freddy, and his recent Chandu champion. Govinda on the other hand does comedic genre, family man movies. Those sre not bad however, but in the pov of audience it feels boring. He should do biopics or serious roles sometimes. Heck even akshay in his prime kept his filmography constant, releasing comedies like toilet ek prem katha and serious like baby, Kesari at the same decade. Govinda should do something like that

I still remember his different role in _Hatya_ (an exception in those days). We don't know what exactly was/is his problems since 2007 onwards? Yes , he should step out of his "comfort zone". All major Actors have done that. Why can't he? I suspect he is still stuck, psychologically, in the 1980s & 90s. May be, because of this he is rejecting different roles in the last 15 years or so.

Quantity is not quality. He had a niche of comedy movies but Harr movie mai ek he jaisa role hota tha. Showed very little versatility. He wasn't a prodigal artist, just a very popular actor.
He had already proven his versatility 80s, even before starting to do comedies. Even in late 90s and 2000s he used to different movies than just comedies like Zulm Ki Huqumat (first ever remake of The Godfather. Govinda played Michael's role), Naseeb (tragedy), Shikari (villain), Maharaja (fiction +romance), Pyar Diwana Hota Hai (Tragic romance). And these are just a few. Just because these didn't work and you don't know about them, doesn't mean he was just a popular actor with no talent lol. There's a reason why even those people praise his talent who criticise him for his unprofessionalism.

I think if in my memory I could pinpoint the moment that Govinda's career went into a downward free-fall, is the moment he refused to take the ROLE that was written for him in Subhash Ghai's TAAL, which eventually went to Anil Kapoor. He failed to recognize the opportunity and upgrade that would have given him. While comedy treated him best, he is a brilliant dramatic actor first and foremost. And that Vikrant Kapoor Role had the comic timing, but was also intense, passionate and kinda intimidating. It was written perfectly for Govinda and would have re-introduced him to the new generations as a worthwhile actor to look out for and in my humble opinion, him in that role would have boosted Taal to even bigger heights of success, and I say that with all due respect to Anil Kapoor. BUT alas, Govinda got stuck in the tunnel of his own vision. Even now, it's not too late.

I don't know much about why Bollywood insiders gave up on Govinda but fans gave up on him because he refused to change. You can't do same movies for 40 years straight. Audiences mature with time. Different times bring different types of movies. Although we all love 90s movies, they don't work in this time. Govinda is 60 and doing the same movies he was when he was 30. Change is important to remain relevant in this industry. Look at careers of Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt.... they are proof that you need to change your choice of movies and do what people like nowadays. Taking on villian or father roles doesn't limit your popularity but rather help you stay relevant. You can't be a hero all your life.

Wow I never knew the depth of what happened to Govinda and the overall story of his life. I wish he worked on himself in a real way and adjusted his attitute and adpated better to changing times, instead of putting his faith into psuedoscinece, he truly has been one of the pioneers of cinema and a talanted individual, and I wish someday he gets his comeback reneissance.
Govinda was my favourite actor growing up. Govinda-Kadar Khan and Govinda-David Dhawan jodi used to be my favourite. Sad to see his downfall. Govinda's story reminds me of Dileep from Malayalam cinema. Dileep also became superhit because of his comedy movies and later fell down from stardom because of his mistakes.

He usually started as the common indian man, from village, which was a very relatable character to a very large mass of audience during the 90s before modernisation. he outstared the great shaheenshah big b of bollywood amitabh in bare miyan chote miyan. films such as raja babu, rajaji, dulhe raja, aankhen, shola aur shabnam, coolie no1, kyunki main jhoot nahi bolta, ek aur ek gyara, haseena maan jayegi, deewana mastaana, bare miyan chote miyan, kunwaara and more will be remembered

I think Govinda is not doing one thing which everyone is doing- stepping out of the comfort zone. Kartik aryan, known for his chocolaty boy roles, has also done dhamaka, freddy, and his recent Chandu champion. Govinda on the other hand does comedic genre, family man movies. Those sre not bad however, but in the pov of audience it feels boring. He should do biopics or serious roles sometimes. Heck even akshay in his prime kept his filmography constant, releasing comedies like toilet ek prem katha and serious like baby, Kesari at the same decade. Govinda should do something like that

Quantity is not quality. He had a niche of comedy movies but Harr movie mai ek he jaisa role hota tha. Showed very little versatility. He wasn't a prodigal artist, just a very popular actor.
He had already proven his versatility 80s, even before starting to do comedies. Even in late 90s and 2000s he used to different movies than just comedies like Zulm Ki Huqumat (first ever remake of The Godfather. Govinda played Michael's role), Naseeb (tragedy), Shikari (villain), Maharaja (fiction +romance), Pyar Diwana Hota Hai (Tragic romance). And these are just a few. Just because these didn't work and you don't know about them, doesn't mean he was just a popular actor with no talent lol. There's a reason why even those people praise his talent who criticise him for his unprofessionalism.

I think if in my memory I could pinpoint the moment that Govinda's career went into a downward free-fall, is the moment he refused to take the ROLE that was written for him in Subhash Ghai's TAAL, which eventually went to Anil Kapoor. He failed to recognize the opportunity and upgrade that would have given him. While comedy treated him best, he is a brilliant dramatic actor first and foremost. And that Vikrant Kapoor Role had the comic timing, but was also intense, passionate and kinda intimidating. It was written perfectly for Govinda and would have re-introduced him to the new generations as a worthwhile actor to look out for and in my humble opinion, him in that role would have boosted Taal to even bigger heights of success, and I say that with all due respect to Anil Kapoor. BUT alas, Govinda got stuck in the tunnel of his own vision. Even now, it's not too late.

Govinda’s comedy movies still work as an anti-depressant for a lot of people. His movies and his dance bring smile on people’s face. I wish we could see him doing more great work, but his eccentricities became a big barrier in his own stardom and career.

Change is important to remain relevant in this industry. Look at careers of Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt.... they are proof that you need to change your choice of movies and do what people like nowadays. Wow I never knew the depth of what happened to Govinda and the overall story of his life.
