My 12 yr old granddaughter fell in love with this and is doing a great job.She finished a beautiful baby blue scarf in a day. At first, when I started, I had some difficulty operating the Loops. By the time I became proficient, my granddaughter spotted what I was doing and wanted to learn. Since there is nothing I would rather do than share time and skills with her. She also loves to decorate cakes with me and we are working up to a wedding cake. She likes making jewelry, but not as much as loop knitting and baking. I will always treasure these memories and I hope that she will, too. And then, if she has children & grandchildren, she will know how to pass these skills or anything else she loves doing. For the short time I had grandparents, I did not have a lot of time with them. I do cherish the memories I have. When we married, my husband still had 4 grandparents and he felt so loved. Parenting is the hard job because there are a multitude of responsibilities. It is a great and rewarding job, but with many more requirements. Grandparents (should) surround their grandchildren with so much love and fun. It is a great reward for two generations! Make good use of the time you have with them. You will e tired, but it is a glorious tired and then you may take a nap and turn them back to the parents who have the real responsibility - and that is another reward - seeing your children whom you love so much love their own children. I know this is not the situation most people are in for a great many reasons. Love the kids and grandkids the best that you can and everyone benefits. If you are not in the same town (as we were not for several years) improvise - letters, texts, videos of you reading to them with all the inflection you can muster, bake together during live feed videos, etc. You and everyone else will be glad you did. **********One crucial caveat-Mom & Dad’s rules supersede other rules unless parents have been consulted and agreed. ************ ♥️🌈♥️🌈🌈♥️🎂🎂🎂💜💙❤️💜🌈🌈🌈🌈 One more thing, this always works best if you can drum up the child’s interest. That may include telling old family stories, sharing the enthusiasm, ALWAYS find something to praise about what they have done. Mistakes are not a crisis. They may be fixed or a cover up fix is easily improvised. Go for that kid fun,!

I've made two lap blankets with this yarn now; it's a lovely change from using needles (I've always got 2-3 projects on sticks at any given time). I found that once I get the first row or 2 done flat, I can pick the project up and knit "vertically" to ensure I don't miss any loops. That way I can feel every loop as it passes through my fingers. I've even gathered 4-5 loops at a time as I went across the project to help prevent missing loops. Just drop them off and put the next 4-5 loops on as they're worked. I also figured out if I do see I missed a loop in my previous row, instead of pulling the work apart to that loop, I just pull the loop in front of the stitch that was skipped and work it in with the next row. Now, if I didn't notice I had skipped a stitch until several rows later, it's either take the piece apart to that missed loop (that sucks!) or when done, keep enough of the yarn to create straight pieces and just tie those missed loops to the work. It's pretty forgiving stuff.

I *just* started doing this and I love it!! I can now knit and quilt!! I'm already half way through a knit blanket! What I did was a little different than what you did, I twisted the loop 180° then put the other loop through it.

I'm trying to hand knit one of those chunky blankets and I'm having trouble with making the loops correctly I think it might help to practice with this yarn since the loops are already made and are all the exact same size. I also have trouble with keeping my tension even so I'm exited to try the yarn. Also I'm always dropping my crochet hook when I am crocheting don't have to worry about losing my fingers the same way LOL!

Disgraceful but I think I'll see if I can buy it at loves knitting on line . Sigh one angry Aussie

I am trying to make a scarf with it now and I just did 12 loops back and forth it was going okay so I thought until I realized half way through I missed one loop here and there and had to take it apart to where I missed. Long story short I'm still learning and back on row 10. I just need to keep trying but had to switch to a different project for a few hours because I was frustrated with it. I got the pattern off JoAnn's website www.joann.com/how-to-make-a-bernat-alize-blanket-ez-scarf/26913744P91.html#q=Loop%2Byarn%2Bscarf&start=1

Beverley Simmons I obviously do not know your situation, but I have simple (not rheumatoid) arthritis and carpal tunnel. My hands and arms do best when I can alternate how i use them. This is just another thing that allows me to use my hands differently. I have always been drawn to “small muscle” activities rather than the large muscle ones.😁😁

I also have arthritis in my hands and have reached the stage where holding my crochet hook without pain has become a challenge. I tried joining a few loops of this yarn at my JoAnn store and found it very comfortable. When crocheting, you hold your fingers in somewhat the same position and that is when my pain comes in. With this yarn, your fingers are moving and movement seems to help the pain. Just a thought.

That is why when I saw this I immediately knew I needed to try it. The trick for me is, even if I do, say, only 10 stitches and stop for awhile, that's 10 stitches done so good for me! I'm definitely going to give it a try.
