    This breed is so athletic and smart that most owners can't put up with them. You did very well.

      Most owners do well with them, without having to hire anyone to do the difficult work.

      @@NT-fh7nqexactly.
      Few owners "do well" with them, probably the majority of them "cope" with them.
      Most people are not ready for the time and effort required to train these spicy Collies.
      They are wonderful dogs for the right people but don't make good pets for an urban family.
      My uncle has 3 of them and he has put the hours into them and reaps the rewards of his wonderful companions.

      @2K9s I am full up at my house and will rescue a Malinois when I can. Have 6 cats, 6 dogs, a canary, a dragon and a turtle. Malinois won't easily transition and a couple of the dogs are very small.

    I'm glad you showed the bite wounds. Most people don't understand how high drive these guys are. Especially if you get KNPV lined dogs. It's nice to see a person put in the work needed to maintain the mental and physical aspect of these dog's. It makes me cringe when I see people get Mal's and dutchies to try and act cool. Because of their drive, strength and athletic ability these guys can be very difficult for inexperienced owners. It can be very dangerous. I too had to learn the hard way with getting eaten alive by my puppy. 2 1/2 years later I have a solid well behaved Dutch shepherd that will do anything I ask him to do. He's friendly until I tell him not to be lol .

    A neighbor across from my parents adopted a malinois. They had had it for about three weeks before I saw it. I commented that I was surprised that they got one because the neighbors are so chill. They thought they just had a very active German Shepherd. "God, he never clams down." I clued them into what they adopted. I told them an hour a day of attention won't cut it. That's why he nips and destroys the house. He's bored out of his mind.

  • @GhostBlueEternalFlame
    @GhostBlueEternalFlame 2 года назад

    I think my only save was the fact I trained dogs in showmanship and obedience when I was a child. My mom has shown Dobermans, and more. I spent years training dogs in obedience. The local shelter mislabeled a Malinois a German Shepherd. It was clear soon enough watching her gait, the she wasn’t a German Shepherd but clearly related. There are many German breeds that look similar, but aren’t. I noticed immediately that I owned a year and a half old alligator practically. I used my knowledge and stopped her from chewing me up. Firm commands and firm no. She listens and is very intelligence. We have cats in the house, and they are fine. They also are able to set boundaries, but as with that, I also talk firmly with her. Basically firm commands and working with her is everything, and informing family members how to handle her. Bringing a dog into the house is a group involvement.
    Luckily, I don’t give up easily. I’ve only been nipped a few times, and the worst offenders are the cats. Not my Malinois. She is amazingly faster than a Doberman, and far more intelligent. I’m up for the challenge. I named mine Daphne, because names tend to stick the personality. She is sweet and funny.

    Mal mom, I remember seeing some of your short vids awhile ago and the destructive things they did in your house. Seeing the newer vids I was kinda wondering what happened. Because your house is so nice. Is it BC they're older now or they're in kennels with limited time allowed inside house? I see you have your garage or an area set up for them. Awesome. A must have. Anyways, I saw in another short vid where I think it was titled Apocalypse... You had a blk leather halter on your shoulder. Are you a horse woman as well, or retired? Just the manner & dedication to Riot as your first BM pup. And collecting more, more!! Lol lol tell tale signs I'm familiar with too! I love this breed. But I am in my 60's and don't think I can't keep up with one! So, I'll enjoy following your journey!! Thank you for sharing 💜🙏🤣

    Really as mentioned, this breed is not meant for the average family. They need intense training, lots and lots of exercise. Personally i feel they do best if there not made into a house dog. An outdoor kennel is best as its their home in the real sense of the word. Mitch our male just loved his own space in even the coldest days. He loved it when we changed the bedding in his doghouse. He would spin around until he had built a new nest to lie in and allow his nose to stick out of his doorway. He was fearless and he and a weasel came to a draw after a standoff of almost 30 minutes. I miss him every day.
