Used a crate for a year. Then I gave her a pillow. Works great. She likes it better (ofcourse, more freedom). But the crate was very very helpful in the first year. Got the sweetest Malinois ever. Has never ever broken something or destroyed something or ripped something. Was on top off ther from the start to learn what behavior is good and what not. Your tips are always very helpful

We keep ours outside when we have to leave the house. But we’ve been doing training inside the house and he is pretty good. Well, one day y left the cat door open and we were not home for hours! When we were back he was inside and we thought oh no!! I mean we train him but he by himself?? Probably everything is destroyed!! We were very very surprised that nothing was touched, like almost couldn’t believe it!! Maybe he realized the cat door was open a little before we got home, I don’t know but it was a nice surprise 😅

Crating is a wonderful and powerful tool. We have a high-drive GSD and we’re rehabbing a 6 yo pitbull that was abused. Crating is necessary for both dogs! Crating the pitbull has proven to be a powerful and gentle way to set boundaries and let her have her space. Crating is not cruel. Not providing clear boundaries or clear expectations however is the cruel.

Mom, I agree with you 100%. If you have a BM, you have to crate train the dog. I have a 4 months old BM, and he’s already crate trained.

Thank you for the helpful videos. My ex bf got a puppy from Belgium. And before you all judge me, I broke up with him because of his mal. My ex bf has no idea what he got into, doesn't even do any research how to train a mal and have no dog experience at all. I have small dogs but they are all trained. I just can't stand seeing the mal not trained rightly when there's so many helpful info out there. I send him videos and showed him some stuff like crate training, hand feeding and not leaving food all day as what he does, never listens. I gave up on him when he said he will be opening a breeding business and I'm like done. The dog is just business and not family

Very interesting to watch this, especially as a cat-only person. I was raised with a badly-trained Labrador and the result unfortunately was being scared of dogs to an extent. And that was a dog with zero inclination to bite or be hostile. I really only related to the cat growing up as a result.

Love this...I do bite work with my 5 months old Malinois Buddy. He loves to play tug! Trimming his nails is a real pain in the ass...I bought some long burlap gloves to help with this but they turned into a toy for his bite work. Think I'll be getting my nearest PetSmart store to do his nail trimmings. You can't live with a Malinois and not have a crate...it's their own little home.

that is all I have to say to my mal to go to her crate. I tell her to get in "her house". She goes. She loves it in there. I do have a blanket thrown over to give her privacy and rugs in the bottom. Every "dog liner" that I put in her crate she shredded into a gazillion pieces. The rugs she never messes with them.

My neighbor got a Belgian Malinois, I tell him to Crate her I have a big crate that fit my mastiff in and I can't talk him into using it. So when he leaves to work and she's in the backyard she's 6 months old she's very smart she comes to my house under the fence everyday. Which I don't mind but I'm scared somebody will steal her or hit her with a car I put her in the crate and She lays down and is good as gold. I give her a bone food and water and she's just fine I wish I can talk him into things that I learned when I raised Dobermans and he's a very stubborn person. And she tries to eat my cat. Which then it gets my two dogs in a fight because I have a pitbull and a bully and I am handicapped if I was still young, I could have his dog trained. But he needs to listen to me so I'm going to have him watch your channel and the channel you spoke about and hopefully he will listen and learn because she's going to be one hell of a dog very smart, and I want her and him to succeed.

She has tried, many times. Oh thank you for showing me how to keep her from coming out of her crate which looks so simple. When I get home after work she is soooooo excited to see me that she does not let me sit down, she wants belly rubs and loves and rubs and loves and well, you know.

Crate training is the same controversy of e-collar training. Both works, and unless you control the dog or beit the
Alfa, they will own you. Nothing is mean or inhumane about any of it. They are the best loyal dog, but you have to control them. After crate training most of the time I let them run free in the house all the time. After puppy stage of course. :-) When we go to bed they go in there willing as there safe place. 4 yoa on both so it's easy now. They still need a job so make sure you're active enough to work with them daily or at least three times a week. Just my .02 Nice video!

I think one of the big points of debate right now is comparing crating to what European countries that make crating illegal do, which is usually to put a dog in one room. From the few conversations I've had, some people just shut a door, and others gate the entrance to the room so the owners can see what's going on. I guess with a mal that gate needs to be a gated 11 foot door essentially. And then some people use X pens. I can't exactly see leaving the house trusting an adult or adolescent Malinois to not jump right out of that if you go out to dinner. So I need to find out more on how these people are successful, but personally I have no issue with crates. They serve a purpose, even if it's about things like safe travel with multiple dogs in your vehicle.
Your Mals actually look very calm in the house. They must be pretty satisfied. Thanks for this video.

I have a small crate for the mini schnauzer mix and a large crate for the mutt. In the beginning, the mini schnauzer mix thought the large crate was for her and would growl at the mutt. He would immediately retreat. It took some time but we eventually got her to understand that the small crate was hers and only hers and the large crate was his and only his.

So my question to you is this. My profession requires me to travel. Hes with mec24/7. Trucking. The only time I crate him is when I have to leave.. he now has a negative association with it. Hes got a very comfy crate cushion lol. But, he does whine and raises hell when im gone. I understand and acknowledge that itspart of it. He is 12 weeks old..
He does eventually calm down and lay down. When im driving or parked hes out with me.. I dont use it as punishment of any kind. I know he hates it. But I cant leave him out to destroy thousands of dollars worth of equipment and electronics. If you have any advice ill gladly take it under advisement
