    You are a lifesaver! The parking brake release handle on my 2007 Avalanche had me stranded while at the ATM Machine yesterday. I could not move the vehicle and was both ticked off and somewhat panicked as I thought I was going to have to have it towed home..Before calling for help, I came across your video on my cell and found the mechanism you mentioned and was able to release the brake.My cable broke at the actual handle and it was unraveling etc..I drove home and out of habit I set the parking brake again.. lol However, it's sitting I the driveway and I now know how to release and install a new one..BTW.. Nice Vette and Eldorado.. I have 88 35th Anniversary one as well.Thanks again!

      Awww man, that sucks but I'm glad my video was able to help out! :) And haha, I did the same thing after I freed up my brake, set it out of habit once I got home, whoops! And thanks, yeah I caught the Corvette fever a few years back and I've always loved big American cars, the Eldorado is going to be my long term project, hopefully I can restore it someday!

      Update:Lol.. it took me about 2 Hrs. for the 2007 Avalanche..First, I spent about 20+ Minutes cutting away this weird vacuum sealed packaging just like the samon you'd buy at Costco...Then, I had to break the Tube connection where it fits in the round bracket. (It's really cramped plus trying to get light in there)After several attempts I ended up using a long screwdriver to keep the assembly in the up position to insert the cable end...GM Factory Part Number for a 2007 Avalanche 15929213.I found it on Ebay and it ended up being shipped from 'Suburban Chevrolet' $24.33 + $2.31 Tax Total $26.64 Out the doorI may find a pin point oiler and lubricate the cable inside the tube as the new part seems somewhat stiff..Anyway, could not have done this without your video! Thanks again!

      @@ehw1615e Nice, sorry that ended up being a bigger pain than it should have, but I'm glad you were able to get it fixed up, hopefully it's the first and last time it has to be done for the both of us! :)

    Thankkkkkk you. I was stuck at this grocery store on top of a steep hill. I used my brake so I wouldn’t come out to my vehicle on the highway at the end of the hill. Then BAM 💥 I didn’t know whatttt to do when it broke. It was so hot amd humid out. Had my “business clothes” on after an interview - so crawling around trying to figure it out was frustrating and Miserable. Then this video helped me and you saved the day. I was lost, it happened to me just when i was going to work at 5 am and everything was dark. I had no choice but to drive to work 3 miles away from home at 25 mph and return home at 7 pm and drive back the same way. I lost my sleep just thinking about it for the next day, thinking that this thing was somehow connected to the brake system and is going to be very expensive to fix it. And then I said wait to the BAT-yuotube Robin, and there you where explaining how easy it is to fix it the release of the emergency parking brakes. THANK YOU

      To be honest, once you get the ebrake released, you can keep using your car without engaging the emergency brake each time you park, at least until you have the time and parts to get it fixed back up. Just don’t drive around with the brakes still engaged, you’ll wear down your rear pads and rotors. :(

    That’s not my issue mines the cable works it yanks it up but the brake will stay down like nothing happens I did it from the bottom so either it’s jammed or it’s really stuck in there that doing it manually won’t do the trick.

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  4 года назад

      Oh, if you're manually pulling on the release bracket down in the footwell and it's still not releasing, it sounds like the e brake actuators are seized... you'll need to take off the wheels and check out that mechanism unfortunately :/

      Hey there, I know exactly what your talking about, but I unfortunately don’t have any vehicles with that setup for me to look at :( I tried to look online, this might help.... when you get under by the pedal, can you see any of the mechanicals? If so, look at the linked diagram and see if you can rotate something similar to what’s labeled as “48” in the diagram, that should hopefully let the arm release down patents.google.com/patent/US7051614B2/en
      I hope that helps, sorry I can’t do more I just don’t have one in front of me to play around with.

      @@1Brain4Wheels Hey! Thank you so much for your fast reply. The link you gave led me to the exact patent for the Dura brand parking brake in my 2014 Tahoe. Everything is so packed in on my vehicle, I could not really get to any of the parts in the diagram. I will admit, I have no mechanical abilities, either. However, I did get the brake to release. I dont know if it was the copious amounts of WD-40 I sprayed anywhere and everywhere, or me just jabbing around at everything I could reach with a screwdriver. Probably, a combination of both. Nonetheless, I want to thank you again. Your help was truly appreciated as I was panicking in my driveway. Keep up the great videos!

    • @1Brain4Wheels
      @1Brain4Wheels  4 года назад +1

      It should just push right through once those plastic "butterflies" are squeezed in - I would try squeezing them as hard as you can and then push the end of the tunnel assembly back through the hole.... don't pull the whole tunnel through (forward) because then you'll have to do the whole process again to get the other end through the hole in the bracket. It was tough to squeeze and shove through, but it will go :) Let me know if that clears it up?
