The trick to compress those fingers so it slips through, is to put a small stainless steel hose clamp over them, then push it out. 11:50
Killer idea I like it, I’ll pin your comment at the top so others can try that out. Thanks for watching!
I wonder if a small zip tie would do the same, then just snip it off. About to take on this ordeal so if it works, I’ll let you know.
Good info, thanks for taking the time
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Had the same issue, so I tried to crimp extra wire down and recreate the line... shit broke again immediately. Buying the replacement tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. Thanks for the video!
Glad I could help. But you probably need to watch my other video and replace the back lines as they may be the main issue. Best of luck. Thanks for watching!
After 18 years mine just went and this is perfect. Thank you!
Can the cable that broke just be replaced instead of replacing the whole ebrake?
Ya the eventually do but yours lasted longer than most. But unfortunately you have to replace the handle with it. It’s one piece. I have a new one in the box, if you’re in the north ga area you can have it for free. Hope this helps. Thank for watching!
Hey, what is that piece called that you used to keep the top of the shift boot in place like that? I’ve been needing something like that for so long
It’s pretty handy, I believe this is the one I bought: www.cjponyparts.com/upr-shift-boot-retainer-with-set-screws-black-2005-2014/p/HW2733/?year=2013&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjPDg2OSB_gIVOsqUCR0bvAvLEAQYASABEgLzFPD_BwE
Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@@JunkyardJunkie awesome thanks a lot and your video was extremely helpful I finished replacing my parking brake in no time
@@robertcurry4327 that means a lot! I’m glad I could help!
Thanks for the help boss
Anytime! Thanks for watching!
I have the same problem, but on the 2017 Mustang GT Convertible, can you guide me where I can find the right part?
I’m not sure the best places to get it for the newer mustangs. But this is one place I’ve heard good things about. www.convertibletopguys.com/convertible/3468/2015-2021-Ford-Mustang
Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Great video as always
Thank you! It means a lot. Thanks for watching!
Wait what was the name of the piece you replaced and where you find it?
Hey it’s called a parking brake handle. Here’s a link to one: www.ebay.com/itm/294383259580?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Y84WiOqGQ8C&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=TeVRrzBpTDS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@@JunkyardJunkie thanks! The cable looks a little short since the tear of the cable is almost at the rear end wheel, mine is 06 gt so it should work. I just had it go bad yesterday and just been using first gear to park it now but not sure how safe that is lol so hoping to fix it myself in the coming days
Do I have to replace the whole handle or just the cable?
It’s one piece. It’s the handle and cable together. But if you need to replace the two cables going to the back calipers I have a video on that too. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
So when i took mine out. That wire that is to the switch that tells the car the brake is on ended up ripping wires bc the tab was broke. Where do i get a new one
I believe this is what you’re looking for www.stockwiseauto.com/standard-motor-products-s-843-parking-brake-switch-connector?Year=2005&Make=Ford&Model=Mustang
But you can also call ford parts department and they’ll get you the exact part number. Best of luck. Thanks for watching!
Is it just easier to change the whole thing?
It’s all one piece. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
jackpot-youre rich!!!
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunately it’s not the same in my 2013 mustang I’m still stuck trying to get the lower center counsel out the wings in front beach too far forward and you can’t get past the E brake
Did you pull the ebrake up as far as you could?
@@JunkyardJunkie yes but outta nowhere near enough I had to remove the brake cable in order to pull up enough. I’ve seen this and so many other bad design flaws it’s a great car with the design choices throughout the interior just shit
Yep mine just popped on me this morning I nearly punched myself in the face.
Oof that would be a crappy way to start the day haha. Hope the video helps. Thanks for watching!
