    I did this mod back in 2011 on my 2006 Mustang GT. I used a OEM Shelby GT500 steering wheel as I wanted the combo leather/alcantara. One of the best mods I did on my car. Made driving so much more fun as the thicker wheel is more comfortable than the stock thinner early S197 wheel. Its a MUST DO if you like driving.
    And yes the cruise control works but obviously the SYNC buttons are inop, but that's okay. They become a conversation starter for those who "know" when they see the wheel. 👍

    Thought I’d keep you up to date on the wiring for my 2010 upgrade to my 2006. I went ahead and removed all the unused wires in the connections. I also decided to remove all the harness tape to check the grounds due to others having horn issues. I’m glad I did. I had a loose ground at the factory splice and fixed it. I also did the others as well for preventative maintenance down the road. So far I think I’ve shacked it. One thing to note is splicing the original connection to the 2010 harness the harness is noticeably thicker. Took some patience to fit it in so it doesn’t interfere with the U-plate when tightening it. To others my thought is to offset the splices to give the harness a consistent thickness. This gives more flexibility to position the harness so there’s no kinks. Took me 6+ hours to do this and I’m installing it today. I’m OCD so now you know the rest of the story. 😮

      Finally got the Banshee back together. I installed the Pioneer DMH1770NEX, added a rear camera and topped it off with a trunk release in the console. Everything done per your videos. I did installed a PAC C2R-FRD1 on the Pioneer and then added the PAC SWI RC1. After all the upgrades I take a drive and the Air temp blend actuator goes out. The Pioneer 1770NEX is a great upgrade and I also added a Smart box adapter with Netflix,RUclips and other apps preloaded. Next up will be interior LED’s. Hey man, great video!! I just got done installing mine and everything went well. Except for my cruise control doesn’t seem to work and I’ve gone back to make sure everything is wired correctly and it is. I was thinking that it might be because I’ve accidentally bought a 2014 Mustang GT steering wheel with a track pack. When I realized it was too late I already had the steering wheel in my hands so I assumed just buying the switch you used in the video would do the trick…it didn’t. Anyways, I would just like your opinion. Definitely earned a sub from me. Keep up the great work!

    EXCELLENT and comprehensive tutorial. Got a sub from me for sure. There is so little out here on things like this, well at least this detailed. Do you happen to have a video on switching clusters? I have a 2007 S197 and did the Coyote swap, along with the engine came the ECU, /trans and the instrument cluster. I went to do the swap of the cluster and found that the plug in the back is different, that was a bummer. Any information on that would be helpful.

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  Месяц назад

      Thank you that means a lot. Ton of work goes into the videos. But, unfortunately, I don’t. I was getting ready to do a full coyote swap, along with the gauges, dash and door. But market went crazy and couldn’t find a donor vehicle for anything close to reasonable. But for the cluster I did find some good info on it at one time I will try to find it again. But best of luck! I’ll have to check out your progress if you’re uploading it. Thanks for watching!

      @@JunkyardJunkie Thanks for getting back with me. Yeah, if you could find that information, that would be greatly appreciated. I have the entire harness out of the donor car, was hoping that it could be just a plug difference. I have yet to go through the donor harness to see if the plug is there. If you plan to do a Coyote swap, get with Matt Soppa, he has a channel " Make it Modular". There is a ton of knowledge there as well. he makes harnesses that are plug and play for the S197 Coyote swaps. i got one and all the gauges work, AC etc.. I just wanted the mileage to be the same as the engine at 36,000. Thanks again and keep me in mind if you run across that information.

    Someone is selling me a brand new 2015 steering wheel with airbag for a good price, do you know if this wiring hack would also work for that model? I have a 2006 Mustang and I would love to have all the new buttons plus a brand new steering wheel and airbag (I have one of the old airbags that had the recall but I live in europe and my car was imported from USA so I cannot get the recall).

    It would be a lot nicer if someone just made an adaptive wire kit to go with the new wheel and controls. Would make this a helluva lot less intimidating and I might actually consider this upgrade. Don’t really know shit about wires or soldering and as a Daily driver, my Mustang needs a functioning airbag.

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  Год назад

      It would be really awesome if they did just make a adapter. But, I really do think you should do this upgrade. It seems daunting but I assure you it’s no where near as bad as you think. Just follow the steps and you’ll have it! Also if your not good at soldering you could always use solder connectors (just heat them up) or butt connectors. As for functional air bags the first two connectors you see me take off are to the air bags. They don’t get messed with at all. So your air bag will work properly. Hope this helps.
