In 1999, Nikon Got Serious about Digital Photography - Camera Talk

These three models offered superior image quality that made people take notice of digital photography. Although primitive by today's standards, these digital cameras can still produce good photos. The Nikon COOLPIX 950 body style first appeared on the 1-MP COOLPIX 900.

The near simultaneous release of three models hadn't happened before - or since. Each camera had a unique purpose with the COOLPIX 950 creating the biggest splash. Its 2.11-MP sensor took a big step forward in terms of image quality.

ordered the first one from my local camera store back in 1999, Loved this camera and wore it out. missed it so much ,then found a nib from the estate of a collector he just removed the included batteries and put it up , 84.00 in 2020. BATTERIES = NOT ALKALINE FRIENDLY 2 - 3 PHOTOS THAN CHANGE BATTERIES, BUT WITH RECHARGABLE [NIMH] IT WILL SHOOT ALL DAY ....... LIFE IS GOOD !!!!!!

I worked with the 950 as an actual paid photographer. Found it hard to call what I did "professional" though that was my business, then. Mostly as a digital option for my professional shoots; and a lot of real estate photography. That industry was an early adapter to web based advertising.

950 was great to do real infrared photography using a filter.
