Sorry everyone for the distinct lack of editing on this video, I'm going on a trip soon and have zero spare time. In the meantime since I am not here when this video goes live, try not to burn this comment section to the ground! Looking at you...Michael.
Also, my TBR video that is normally out on the 1st will be a few days late. Just couldn't get it done on time before my trip!
Try not to burn the comments to the ground? Wheel of Time is overrated. 😂
“Sorry, I’ll edit that out later” 😂
😄I loved The Ember Blade and The Shadow Casket. Both 5 stars for me. Love those travel quest books!
Can you make a video on all the active series you’re invested in? You could even rank the active series you’re reading as a tier list based on you’re interest
SECONDED, as he was saying that I was like "well HOW MANY? What are they????" Fantastic video idea honestly
I follow Abby Salter's channel and she does these series check in videos, they're really good!
No worries Matt. I still would like to read the ember blade. I only consider passing if the majority of youtubers/ppl I follow I feel have similar taste to me disliked the book and even then I might just see for myself regardless. This book specifically also has lots of praise so I think the possible dent won't hurt too much.
I love Utah! There is so much cool stuff to see out there. I think my book of the month for April is Empire of the Damned, closely followed by Empire of Silence. I FINALLY got started on Suneater this month. I read 6 books in total for April. The 3rd best book is called Witchy Eye by DJ Butler. It's an alternate history fantasy story and was super interesting. I never hear anyone talk about it either.
Hey you are in St. George! I live here. Snow canyon is a nice place.
Yea ok mr durfee.
I read The Ember Blade a few weeks ago and though it had a slow start, I enjoyed the read, particularly the back half with the heist. Worth a look for sure.
I keep forgetting you're someone's actual dad, I just think of you as being only RUclips's dad!
Yes, Kingdoms of Death was a rough ride but I have just finished Ashes of Man and have to say "hold on tight, cowboy!"😅
I went trough a snowrunner phase its a really good game couldn't stop playing it for weeks!
I feel that game just automatically raises your testosterone levels when you play it
Thanks for the Reviews!!!
Ember Blade has just never caught my attention, everytime i hear the premise or see it for sale for dirt cheap i pass on it every single time.
April was another high quality month for me:
*Fantasy*
Tawny Man 2: Golden Fool
Tawny Man 3: Fool's Fate
- My new favourite trilogy! I'm taking a wee break to prepare for Rain Wilds but I can't wait to return to Hobb's writing.
*Grimdark Fantasy*
Sharp Ends: Made A Monster (re-read)
Sharp Ends: A Beautiful B@st@rd (re-read)
- Gearing up for a First Law re-read.
*Memoir*
The Disaster Artist / Greg Sestero & Tom Bissell
- I don't usually like audiobooks, but this was great. I never tire learning about bts stuff of Tommy Wiseau's The Room. The film adaptation with James Franco does play a lot of the content in the book up for laughs, even the creepy and really toxic parts of Tommy and Greg's friendship (huge power and financial imbalance going on), and that's not even mentioning Wiseau's onset behaviour...
*Thriller*
Grave Descend / Michael Crichton
- Kinda forgettable.
As for what I'm currently reading:
*Fantasy*
Wars of Light & Shadow 1: Curse of the Mistwraith
*Steampunk*
Books of Babel 1: Senlin Ascends (re-read)
Welcome to UT! I’ve been reading Sun Eater. Didn’t much care for book 1. I’m about 70% of the way through Howling Dark and was about to DNF the book because I just wasn’t feeling it, but I really like the direction it’s starting to go and I think it’s finally finding its own place in the sci-fi genre. Love what’s happening right now and if it keeps going this direction I’ll be a happy guy
Yeah I found book 1 to be very mid. No idea what the fuss is about with this series
@@alexwallachian7720 yeah, for me book 1 lacked any tension at all. Book 2 has some of it, but around that 70% mark it ratches up the tension with high stakes and actually is doing something really interesting I think. I'm personally of the belief that if something takes 2 full books to get good it might not be for everyone, but I can certainly see why it's gaining a fan base despite what I think is a pretty dull first entry.
@@hawkfu I'm going to give book 2 a go. But it will really have to be a big jump in quality
So cool you have found your forever game. Ive got like 1500 hours played in Slay the Spire with audiobooks in the background :p
I have probably 700 hours on Tears of the Kingdom, which came out less than a year ago… But I haven’t played any games in a while…cause I’ve been reading lol.
Hope you had an awesome camping trip!
Man seeing you be disappointed by so many book 1s instead of continuing on more quickly with Shadows of the Apt has been painful for me to see!
I wanted to read the ember blade for a long time, I started it this month was really enjoying it but as the book went on I just started not caring about anything in it so I’m probably gonna leave it alone and continue sun eater
