Thank you for making this. It’s really opened my eyes on Kon’s vision and journey as a director. I’m really looking forward to checking out Kon’s work in the near future!!

Perfect Blue is undoubtedly my FAVOURITE horror movie of all time, yet I would also put it second to Millennium Actress.
Kon is an absolute god of cinema.

I'll come back when I've seen TGF and MA. As for the other two, nothing to disagree with, Perfect Blue is insane, Paprika does feel a bit long, though visulally stunning.

Paprika's score and visuals are the most gorgeous out of all the Kon works imo. The parade is chaotic and pretty at the same time, and the score compliments it so well. and the opening scene with Paprika skipping about in the dream world is so captivating.
but the pacing and occasionally difficult plot lines detract from how stunning it is. It has so much going for it that it becomes too much. The relationship between Paprika and Chiba, the detectives discovery of his true feelings toward cinema, the interaction of the dream world and the regular world, and a myriad of other things. it wants to explore so many things within such a short time that the pacing is difficult. I think it might have been better as a show, that way time wouldn't be such a limited resource.
the other films have far less overall that they are trying to do, and I enjoy them more because of that.

You're real for putting Millennium actress. My personal favorite of his, and never fails to make me cry.

Perfect blue is one of the best anime movies ever. It is sickening how western Hollywood blatantly ripped off his ideas and scenes, and make millions, while satoshi kon never got credit for any of their plagiarism. Inception is a huge ripoff of paprika there are multiple scenes that are exactly the same! Black swan is also heavily influenced by perfect blue but the director denies it. Rip satoshi kon you deserved so much more your ideas have inspired so many of us to think deeper about our ordinary everyday lives❤️❤️❤️

Perfect Blue has became my favorite movir of all time, and Satoshi Kon became my favorite film director to ever live. I have became so fascinated with what he has left behind. Which makes me sad that he couldn’t make more movies. I wish we could at least discover more information about The Dream Machine. It’s very different than the movies he did make, but I just know it would’ve been another 10/10 film.

my favorite is perfect blue but tokyo godfathers is so close. tokyo godfathers is his most normal film but so effective, but you can basically rank them however you want and THAT is satoshi kon's greatest achievement

Yeah, that’s what makes him so special. I would’ve understood any other possible ranking besides my own, because every film has something special about them.

    My honest and respectful opinions:
Perfect Blue(10/10): The greatest psychological horror movie.. It's been 3 years since i watched it , and it still induces me up with anxiety..
Millennium Actresses (8/10): A great movie about
"movies" and "first love".. although the visual palette was kinda dull imo [Hate to be that guy but Goodbye Eri did it better]
Tokyo Godfathers(9/10): Basically a Christmas Miracle type movie with found family trope nailed down to perfection with some serious tones of black comedy..
Paprika (7/10): A Visual spectacle but similarly like the boy and the heron was a bit too much artsy for my liking, couldn't get into the characters that much (I like my FLCL and Sonny Boy a lot because even if they were a bit abstract the characters resonated with me on a very personal level)
