If memory serves me correctly, A History of Violence was the last movie to get a widespread VHS release before the format died out, Anyhow, solid list. I need to check out Eastern Promises at some point.

You would be correct! It indeed was. Honestly, I hope A History of Violence gets a 4K Physical Media release. Because whilst I love the film, the DNR is pretty apparent. But yes! Definitely check out Eastern Promises. Really, really good film!

Still got a few of his to watch but they're unlikely to crack my top 10...
    1. Videodrome
    2. The Fly
    3. A History Of Violence
    4. The Dead Zone
    5. Eastern Promises
    6. Naked Lunch
    7. Dead Ringers
    8. The Brood
    9. eXistenZ
    10. Scanners
    11. Shivers
    12. Rabid
    13. Maps To The Stars
    14. A Dangerous Method
    15. Spider
    16. Crimes Of The Future
    17. Crash
Not a huge fan of my 13 to 17 but the top 12 are all decent to great films. I go back and forth between Videodrome and The Fly as my number one. Videodrome edges it due to originality but The Fly is more polished and, like you say, perfectly paced. Both are masterpieces for me. Definitely prefer A History Of Violence to Eastern Promises but they're both great thrillers. Big Christopher Walken fan and like the Stephen King novel, so The Dead Zone has always been a favourite. The ones ranked between 6 and 12 change places quite a lot. Like you I prefer Shivers to Rabid because of its pace and more interesting concept. The Brood has a nice atmosphere and is one of his few more conventionally 'scary' horror films. Scanners has that brilliant exploding head/end 'scan off' but a lacklustre lead knocks it down a notch. Dead Ringers has superb acting but find it hard to really warm to. Naked Lunch rivals Videodrome as his most visually bizarre work but don't find it anywhere near as powerful or clever. eXistenZ I need to rewatch because I feel it has potential to go up my ranking. Crash is easily my least favourite - pretentious, aloof and just not for me. Crimes Of The Future (2022) was a big disappointment unfortunately. I think it's over to Brandon now...

Love your ranking! Our top 5 is pretty similar. I agree with you that I doubt the ones that you’re missing will crack your top ten. That said, I do think eXistenZ might go up for you on rewatch. Hopefully that gets a 4K transfer because the blu-rays are supposed to be pretty iffy.

I might watch some of his work at some point, we'll see.
When will your next vid come out?

Definitely should! When you say next video, do you mean in general? Or Director ranking video? For director ranking videos, I post once a month. Second Saturday of each month. With my next video in general, I’ll be posting one pretty soon.

@@ChadSabourin do you know which director you will pick for next month?

@@MultiDannyboy89 Yup! I have everything scheduled up until October. Originally March was going to be Gasper Noe & Ben Affleck was going to be for September. HOWEVER, I didn’t realize Ben Affleck had a new film coming out this year. So I quickly scrambled to put his ranking list next month before his new film comes out

@@ChadSabourin Interesting choice. He's only done a few films, but judging from Argo (only one I've seen of his) I think he's got chops and should keep directing. More so now that his acting career got messy with the Batman stuff.

@@MultiDannyboy89 yeah, man! I try to balance directors that have done a handful of films with directors that have done a lot. Just since these lists are a lot to do. So having that mix makes it more manageable. But yeah, I would say to check out Ben Affleck’s directing work.
