Some of these would be in my top 200 but the two that stood out are Sicario and Do The Right Thing. Both of those are in my top 30 of all time.
@@bootzilla1550 Love hearing that! Both of your choices are great. Happy to hear they’re in your Top 30.
Solid list but I need to see an updated list! Curious where you'd put Tenet and Oppenheimer.
@@beamerbro1781 I agree that I should do a re-ranking!
I couldn't even imagine a different movie winning best picture for that year. And what a spectacular year for movies 1993 was. Short Cuts really should have nominated.
speak of it to your agent
@@jimmywormwood9687 It really was! I saw Short Cuts for the first time earlier this year & liked it.
I stand Alone is a masterpiece. Enter the Void is unforgettable. Irreversible is overrated. I could not watch the rest of his flicks completely. I need to find the first Butcher short film.
I can respect that, even if we disagree. Maybe I’ll rewatch I Stand Alone & Enter the Void many years from now.
I need to see 'In the Name of the Father' after your recommendation.
@@dfcintron Yes! 100% recommend you watch it. Even if you don’t like the film, the acting is phenomenal!
really strong year: 1. Schindlers List 2. The Fugitive 3. In The Name Of The Father 4. The Remains of The Day 5. The Piano
@@MoSc110 Agreed! Really good year!
1. Schindler's List 2. The Fugitive 3. The Remains Of The Day 4. In The Name Of The Father 5. The Piano
@@JustinWilliams367 Love it! Our list is similar.
Is it ok to say that 'In the Name of the Father' is Jim Sheridan's best film?
@@rowanc88 That’s a fair opinion! It’s tough because I also really like “My Left Foot”.
@@ChadSabourin I think 'In the Name of the Father' has a larger scale to it. Lots of glaring inaccuracies in comparison to the actual story though (him and his father were not in the same prison together).
I haven’t seen schindlers list in a long time. I remember liking it but not as much as everyone else did. I’ll see how I’d like it on a rewatch
@@CantArticulate Oh! You should definitely rewatch it. I think you would appreciate it a lot now.
Schindler's List is the definition of a movie everyone must watch at least once in life.
@@thetrison Yes!!! 100% agree.
Good stuff, bro!
Thanks, man! Have you seen any of Oliver Stones movies?
1 JFK 2 Platoon 3 Any Given Sunday 4 Heaven & Earth 5 Wall Street 6 Born on the Fourth of July 7 Nixon 8 W 9 Natural Born Killers 10 Savages 11 Snowden 12 U Turn Im dying to see Alexander, the Doors, Talk Radio, and Salvador.
Very fair ranking! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Talk Radio. It’s under appreciated. Sooooo good.
@ChadSabourin just letterboxd it. Unfortunately only a 2.5 for me. It was a bit all over the place.
@@dfcintron 😱😢 Hey, I get it! Honestly, I liked how all over the place it was. Matches the lead characters chaotic mind set.
Hiii.. When can we expect sardar udham ....???
@@sameerk644 Not sure!
@ChadSabourin hmm i m sure u r really busy... Anyway.. Good luck
Wow...I have few issues with the 2nd guy(he knows what he's talking about), but the FIRST GUY, HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT...I mean OH MY GOD, I've never seen a Carpenter ranking where the Thing or Halloween wasn't 1...he crapped on Escape from New York and Big Trouble in Little China!?!? He thinks Prince of Darkness has a "simple" premise(It's about discovering that via physics there is an alternative mirror universe where instead of God is an anti-God and WE live in that universe and Jesus Christ who we discover is an extraterrestrial came to warn us of this fact and a group of priests have the embodiment of the "son" of that "anti-God" as a swirling fluid in the basement of a church and future humanity is sending tachyon pulses from the future to attempt to warn them of these threats)...DUDE!?!? you do not understand Carpenter AT ALL...shame on you...I see why this video has so few views, just edit the first guy out
@@IsraelBenitez-ev7mj Wow, I have a few issues with this comment^. 1) This is a close minded comment. 2) Film is subjective. Thus why we will all have a different ranking. 3) Views aren’t everything, bud.
@ChadSabourin I'm simply saying you may have good cinematic taste...but NOT when it comes to John Carpenter. At the beginning of the program you said yourself you only enjoy 25% of his films...so YOU DON'T LIKE CARPENTER...and in my opinion he's a GREAT filmmaker
@ I didn’t say that I enjoy 25% of his films😂. I also never said that I don’t enjoy his films. This is simply conjecture. Nothing more, nothing less.
@@ChadSabourin what's your favorite film?
@@IsraelBenitez-ev7mj I don’t see what that has to do with your previous close minded comments. If you really want to judge someone for having different film taste as your own, then I’m sorry to disappoint. I believe in accepting others taste in films. If you want to see my taste, I have plenty of playlists. If we all liked the same films, life would be dull, simple as that.
Bro watch Sardar Udham film. Youll be blown away in a weird way.
@@Boldtruths It’s on the watchlist!
@@ChadSabourin One suggestion ... Don't watch trailer or internet search. It will spoil the movie a little bit. Go blind. Movie is self explanatory. Watch it till the very end, till credit scenes. THANK ME LATER.
You should really check out Andrei Rublev again.. sure it’s his longest and hardest one to get through but the investment is worth it. Some of the best moments in cinema are in this film in my opinion. If you do check it out please update what are your thoughts on second watch
@@eshtrogy6458 Will definitely let you know if I give it a second chance! I can definitely see why many people have it high up on their ranking, for sure.
Wow, I thought Oliver Stone directed "Midnight Express" but he was only the writer.
@@DM-hf9nh Yes! He also wrote Scarface.
@@ChadSabourin + Conan The Barbarian
Thank you for your thoughtful list! I love Stone, here is mine, there are some differences, obviously, but the the most relevant I think is the position of "Salvador". 10 (veneration) Platoon 8 (enthusiasm) JFK, Salvador 7 (engagement) The Doors, Born the 4th of July 6 (firm interest) Wall Street, Talk Radio, Snowden, U-Turn --- 5 (meh) Any Given Sunday, Natural Born Killers, The Hand, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps 4 (nope) World Trade Center 3 (c'mon) Alexander
@@JoJo-q5c Thank you for comment, I appreciate it! Is Platoon your #1?
@@ChadSabourin Yes, decrescent list.
NBK deserves to be much higher in any list of Stone films. You’re too young to remember what an outsized cultural impact that film had. I can’t imagine what it must be like to see it shorn of that context.
@@polyestermammoth740 Even though I wasn’t there when it came out, I still read the historical context of what was going on when it came out & the ripple effect the film had. I can see why others would like it. For me, felt mixed about it. Maybe I’ll revisit it down the line. We’ll see🤷♂️.
Thanks for sharing, I hate whar Stone is up to with Trump lately and I am going to find it hard separating the films from the man going forward
@@donall That’s fair! For myself, I can do that fairly easy. But I get it if others can’t.
Good guy. Resisting the neocons.
@@ThePeterWilliam Yeah, I think not watching something simply because of disagreeing with the directors personal views/decisions/morals/etc is quite unfortunate. Especially since hundreds, if not thousands of people work on a film.
I’m usually a very grateful audience. Slow cinema, classic films, b movies, epics, art house, musicals you name it. I respect the work, and I don’t mind being out of my comfort zone and I love long films. I’m in for the experience. Stone is the only director who bored me every single time. Platoon being the least boring I think. That’s before I began to dislike him for his political statements.
@@romeohadjuliette Oh, that’s a shame that you don’t like his films. I get it!

Born on the Fourt of July is my favorite of his, Platoon is close second. Im my opinion, Born on the fourt of July should have won best Picture in 1989 instead Driving miss Daisy.
@@AlexGlinkin That’s a very, very fair opinion! Anything bud Driving Miss Daisy should have won😂
For me, the top 2 (also Platoon and JFK) could just as easily be in either order. Even though we're talking about Oliver Stone's feature films, his TV documentary series The Untold History of the United States is about as worth seeing as anything else he has done.
@@jimmywormwood9687 I still need to watch that documentary series! Will have to check it out based on your recommendation.
Untold History, if (like anything else) you take account of its biases, is quite brilliant.
@ Definitely going to try & watch it!
Only seen 8 of his films but Platoon is easily my favourite and Savages by far the worst.
