How to Make Perfect Samples and Loops on the Octatrack MK2

This video shows you how to make perfect samples/loops with the Octatrack MK2. The point of this video is to capture audio with the Octatrack and have it create actual files of your samples so you can use those on the Octatrack itself to create songs or to upload them to your DAW to create songs or send them to your friends or collaborators to be able to work with other people.
One thing I did not mention in the video is always be sure to use best practices by naming your samples properly when sending to other people so be sure to include things like BPM as well as the key in order to speed things up with your collaborators.

I’m guessing you don’t have to arm the trig until you’re ready for it to record? Meaning you can jam out with your other gear, and then when you’re ready for the octotrack to make a perfect loop, you can press YES to arm at that time, so that it will begin recording at the top of the next bar?

hey are the screen and the leds on the octatrack really that blue or does it just look like that in the video?

They are kind of very very light blue but I wouldn’t call em white either so they are in between haha. The only ones that are really white on the default main screen are STOP and FUNC

there is no thru maschine needed to sample. Nothing is needed. You can sample incomming Music onto a flex maschine without any thru, because the in built recorder is sampling anything which is comming in through A/B or C/D definitely no need for any thru maschine.

I swear Double tapping the track then left doesn’t works for me. I have to tap SRC twice to select thru in order to get the source audible. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Damn what a trip. I’m not sure why that would be. Maybe a firmware thing? Or I don’t know if you have the MKI but yeah as long as you are able to get there anyway. The SRC menu works too.

did you ever compared how easy it is to record 1 bar (to say a perfect bar) with NI Maschine? In this case your video would be 1 minute long instead of 19 min to explain how to record 1 bar.

Lol it is true that the Octatrack has a steep learning curve but to me it’s worth it. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea though.
