How about hiring a guy that coached college successfully at some point in his career? That would be a good start. Juwan took over a great program and ran it into the ground.

I'm a Boiler, but I loved it when Bo was AD and the basketball coach of the fab 5 said he was leaving for Arizona State after the season. Bo basically said " You can leave now because we want a MICHIGAN man coaching our team". He was out, the assistant was in, and the fab 5 fun began!

I think beilein would be a great associate coach like Phil to Juwan which in my opinion was the only good coach on the Michigan sideline the last 5 seasons where he can really be a good help to the program and not having to do all the stressful nil and transfer portal things
Get Beilein to come and teach basketball, get the funamentals right, and coach. Get a hotshot assistant to Beilein to deal with NIL and all the college bs stuff. You dont pass up a "coach" cause they dont know how to run financial incentives. If you do this right, youre getting beilein with a better recruiting class than he has ever had because of Michigans newer NIL contracts. Plus Beilein can spend the next few years to coach up the next sherone and leave a legacy.

Especially when most of these basketball players are merely looking for a path to the NBA. Many are majoring in sports management, not physics or chemistry. Illinois and Arizona had no problem accepting Shannon Jr. and Love, respectively. Michigan needs to come out of the 1800s or accept being at a Harvard competition level in athletics.

How about the winningest coach in NCAA history MOTT head coach Steve Schmidt. He has over 800 college wins and has to recruit for every two years. not four. He at least deserves a look.

Now with that being said we need to get a well proven coach that doesn’t mind the changes in college sports and that can relate better to the types of players coming out of high school. With those players, I think they make the tournament as a low seed. Howard did it to himself but he did not get much help from the administration.
