“You’re trying to help my daughter’s finances? I don’t know who you are, I don’t know what you want, but I have a particular set of skills and I will find you”
I do understand fear of having a random guy on the internet look at your child's finances for free when you don't understand it definitely sounds like a scam to steal people's identities.
Please, don't hate me: In my office we call Caleb "el gordito del dinero" (the money chubby in Spanish), in an affectionate way... I just announced that "the money chubby hour is on" and put the show on the big screen. Although we are not in the United States, many of your tips have helped us be smarter with our money.
The dad with a pretty honest response in the modern world. For every Caleb there are 100 Indian guys telling grandma she needs to take out 6k in Walmart gift cards and read the information over the phone to them.
At least he's educated on these scams. I have a cyber degree and the amount of scams that target people who aren't tech savvy is absolutely insane. It's quite disgusting tbh. Also it's not even just tech scams? In general the elderly are a lot more likely to be scammed for a TON of reasons compared to a younger person: less knowledgeable, less of a social network to tell them it's a bad idea, possible dementia type issues with no one to care for them, etc. It's really sad and anyone who takes advantage of someone like that is pathetic and deserves every bit of bad karma that comes their way. So this guy overreacted FROM OUR POINT OF VIEW, because we've seen the show, we know he's legit, we know he doesn't even use his guests real names, but her dad? He doesn't know that. He just hears "internet guy I gave all my financial statements to" and considering he sounds somewhat educated about those possibilities he reacted in a...kind of normal way. Better than having a dad asking you for $700 because he just learned he's the cousin of a wealthy Nigerian prince who just needs $700 so he can move the $2 million into your "account of the Americans."
I understand the dad's distrust, really. But I think it's mostly because learning that his daughter traveled to another city and is seeing a financial auditor for free and is getting reimbursed really doesn't sound believable if you think about it. Odds are he wouldn't have reacted that way if she had told her parents.
Caleb has no financial license in... anything.. so yeah, I fuly understand the dad here. Also, I feel like Caleb and cofucked up the math. She's 1.2k over for how long, exactly? If she only got one payment, ONCE, that makes zero fucking sense. Like the dad said they aren't sending money every month. Also hi Caleb, go eat a bag of Oreos and cry.
@@E_Legal_Alien I'm a dad. I have a dad. I never understood why he hovered even when I'm an adult but having a kid of my own, I kind aget now that my dad was always concerned. Dads don't just lose their sense of responsibility for you just because you grow up on a specific birthday. Granted, not every dad handles those feelings the right way but understandable and acceptable are two different things. And I understand this dad.
Caleb is right rich folks on marketplace don't price their stuff to make money, they price it to get rid of it. I got a full 5 piece bedroom suite in SOLID OAK for $500. They even threw in the brand new adjustable base and brand new mattress in for free. They legit just didn't want to pay movers to move it to their new house and just wanted it gone. This furniture likely cost $15k+ brand new.
Yep, I’m not rich and I set a low price on the stuff I don’t need anymore just to cut off people looking for free stuff cause they are extremely unreliable and waste my time
I know a newlywed couple living in NY City who joined an online marketplace community in a wealthy area in Connecticut just so they could furnish their apartment with really nice furniture offered for a fraction of the showroom price. The posh Connecticut wives: "Silly me, I furnished our living area with these new custom sofas and lounge chairs, but now I realize it's just not the look I want. Please, somebody come take it away for $200!". 😅
@@alberttang6955 I’m renting cheaply in a super posh area in NYC suburbs (probably not far from that Connecticut town lol) and Buy nothing group is insane. Like, please take my antique furniture I bought in Paris and an entire playground I had in the backyard… lol
If they think their daughter is living paycheck to paycheck, with almost 10k in debt, the 401(k) wouldn't earn interest fast enough to overcome the 30% credit debt interest, it does make sense to eliminate the debt, and start contributing back to retirement after. Now, if they have access to view their account, see the bs spending, and allow her to rely on them for bailout, then yes, they are not teaching financial responsibility and have neutered her retirement by letting her withdraw the 401(k) contributions. Just playing devil's advocate
@lyriasong3717 it would be good advice if she wasn't lying to them about her putting everything on credit cards. She's doing all the good purchases on the debit card because she knows they will look and put the bad ones on the CC. so mom and dad think she's trying to payoff the debt and blaming the interest and not her continual purchases.
@@lyriasong3717I just closed my 401k for that exact reason. I have 3500 on a credit card from when inflation took off and I wasn't making enough to cover bills anymore. I got a higher paying job so bills are covered, but I could only pay $150 a month on the credit card with $100 interest. I pulled my 401k, it'll pay off the credit card and most the remaining balance on my car, then I'll have an extra $335 a month to put into savings. Worth it in my case.
Lol, the way the daughter introduced Caled to the dad in the worst and most suspicious way. She's all the way in Austin, and said "I found this guy online"
+ “we’re paying her” + “we’re filming a show for the internet” oh yes. Super sus. p certain papa y tio Manolo were in the truck and on the way 20 minutes later
@@erick3755 I don’t remember shit from high school lol. Most kids are there to check the box and it would be a non factor. There really is no excuse for this ignorance anyways when we have devices in our pockets that literally give us the answers to the test.
My sister is the most financially literate in my family. She does logistic for a big plane company. For my birthday this week, I asked her to play Caleb Hammer and financially audit me. I’m ready to be called an idiot but I’m more ready to get my shit together.
the fact that it took her so long to actually understand that caleb was asking her for a hard number on how much she spent in one month means we're in for a wild ride
the frustrating thing about this show is that it’s just regular people and not professionals so they don’t have the best communication skills. the amount of guests that come on and talk circles is so frustrating like BABE GET TO THE POINT
My exh would make an amazing episode. Bought a new $80,000 truck and got upgrades on it but says there is no money to pay his share of our son’s class trip or our daughter’s Girl Scout camp.
Garage sale in a rich neighborhood is where it's at. Got a two piece sectional, a rug, and a coffee table for $300. All only 6 months old. I cleaned it with my steamer and the water was nearly clear on the first pass. There's a positive secondhand furniture story for you. I highly suggest investing in an upholstery steamer if you're wary of secondhand furniture.
I can't fault her dad. He's looking out for his daughter and if you don't know who Caleb is, saying "I trust this person on the internet" should raise some big alarm bells.
She’s an adult! Gotta trust her to make her own informed decisions and allow her to make her own mistakes. How will she ever stop relying on daddy if she isn’t on her own?
@@christinak4082 Yes but, the other side to that is that they are adults making childish choices which is ultimately why they're on Caleb's show in the first place.
After watching for a few months, i have tracked every cent I have spent so far this month, opened up a HYSA, and am aggressively putting money into stocks. you're the man, caleb
If you just started doing this, then I wouldn't go so aggressive on the stocks, as individual stocks is considered high risk investments which should be done only after you have a solid foundation for your future. Instead you should put that money in a solid ETF, and once you think you have put enough money there that you could comfortably retire ( as a conservative projection at the standard retiring age) then you can start putting your money into higher risk products like individual stocks. This is to protect you against a stock suddenly doing poorly and you losing all your investments and end up without anything to fall back on.
I wanna get into investing/ stocks, etc. But I'm so clueless on that stuff lol

Coming from a Latino family, my dad would’ve reacted the same. At 24 I would’ve been terrified to make that kind of call, so kudos to her!!! I’m honestly glad the dad was more angry about her going for an audit than her being irresponsible with the money they loaned.
This is definitely cultural. She should have spoken to her parents and shown them videos etc and explain that she wants to get help. The dad might have even been willing to go with her to see that everything was legit without knowing a lot of the context for the show.
Coming from a wyte family, my dad would've reacted the same way. Ethnicity has absolutely nothing to do with his reaction.. any parent who cares would've reacted the same way
Guarantee you this is the "friend" everyone calls for a free meal or when theyre broke, but still want to hit up the bar. Shes oblivious to how they're using her. 😮
Caleb, Even though you always have negative things to say about kids, you are SUCH a DAD! These conversations about wants VS needs crack me up every single time.
Dude same!! I paid 9k in cc debt, 11k to pay off my car early and now I have 14k in a HYSA almost have the full 6 months E fund! Just 1k more left with my next paycheck! (Moved back with parents in order to do this) I started watching this show last March and realized my situation was pretty bad. Keep it up man! You're doing amazing!!
@LordKarato I did the same exact thing. Once I calculated how much interest I was paying to the cc companies, I felt so stupid. After making my first few significant payments towards them, I felt energized watching the balance drop. Now I just have my few subscriptions setup to the cards and have them set to autopay. My bank also does a round up thing where they take the remaining change for each debit purchase and put it in a separate account earning 10.5%, so I only use debit. I even square off my gas purchases to the .01 cent to get .99 cents into the account. If I can do it, anyone can.
I understand the dad's frustration. Saying you're getting a financial audit in another city for free sounds very sketchy without context. Not to mention, he helps his daughter by consistently monitoring her bank account and depositing money to avoid overdrafts... Yet she chooses to talk to a stranger on RUclips about her finances rather than being candid with someone who views her bank account regularly and helps her way more than he should. Sounds like the dad has his stuff together and could help her out if she'd have a conversation with him.
Her parents do nothing but enable her. She doesn’t know what it’s like to have to pick between rent and groceries for the month. She doesn’t know what it’s like to have to pick between cold water and sleep for dinner.
As long as mommy and daddy are in the background to pick up the check and her only responsibility is to just hand over a card so she can continue playing at adulting, she will continue to delude herself. They don't make her responsible, so no surprise, she's not responsible.
@@churrosquirrel Depends how you want to look at it. Median urban rent has gone up 3.36x from 1985 to mid-2022. Median household income is up 3.16x in that same time. So 6% more expensive over 37 years. (2022 is the most recent year that household income data is published.)
My parents would help out a lot during college, but their rule for all the kids is once you get a pet your on your own because you’re saying you’re not only stable enough to take care of your self, but also another life.
And why get a dog at 24? That’s a time in your life you’re probably going to be moving every 12 months, going out, traveling, trying to find yourself and figure out how to adult. Seems like terrible timing for a dog much less two
There is stigma around it and people sometimes act like you're mooching of the government even tho u pay taxes for that sort of thing , and like I guarantee there's so much more going to Imperialism that it trumps those services money wise. People don't think about how much money is actually allocated to these services, and if you were born here, work here, etc, if you fall on hard times, you deserve to have help if you're truly trying. I feel like there is such a bad rap for people who get gov assistance cayse there's a stigma of welfare moms and stuff even tho that's such a small portion of people who actually get those services...

i get so annoyed when these young people act so proud of being independent when some of us are ACTUALLY financially independent and don’t have these same stupid problems
They wouldn't know independence if it hit them in the face. I lived with a roommate and shit ton saved with no debt and only now moved out to be fully independent cuz my new income affords me that luxury. I can afford the lifestyle inflation. They can't. These people never encountered the word "delayed gratification " and unfortunately parents play a huge role on top of our shot education system for why so many people are financially illiterate. Society being bad w money is bad for us all, so Caleb's contribution helps society and the net positive is appreciated. I was a financial coach and after 2 years I ditched. Even listening to Caleb's show occasionally pisses me off. No accountability. Blaming it on income when it's all their fault. Drives me mad. Thanks Caleb, ur stronger than me 😅cuz I got sick of this.
@VioletIsBulletproof Absolutely. Your entire comment is spot on. I've said this for a long time, finances needs to be a mandatory class in all high schools across the states. Opposed to the other pointless bullsh1t.
I paid off my student loans and my car in the middle of the pandemic, making $15/hr and paying $800/mo in rent. It took a lot for me to save up over 10k and be debt free, but it's helped me survive some serious emergencies over the past few months without taking on any additional debt.
She reminds me so much of myself at that age... The justifications, the thinking you are waaay more independent than you are, stupid spending for eating out... But it was such an brave step to come to the show AND speak to her dad, even tho she was scared! I think she will be in a great place a couple of years from now. If you're reading this, there are people rooting for you and excited what's ahead regarding your financial future ❤
I’m on team dad here. If my kid told me he was with someone he found online showing him all his banking info I’d lose my shit and go physically stop him.
I think the most shocking part is that she thinks she's living independently when her parents are paying a quarter of her paycheck, and she can't even cook for herself. Like, what exactly do you think that word means?
I think its because they see their parents helping as something the parents *want* to do instead of something the parents *have* to do. There's a large amount of parents who feel responsible and instead of actually teaching them they just fix the problem
If anyone has changed their finances since watching Caleb should go on and show past balances and behaviors and then show current. I think Caleb needs to see how he’s actually helping the majority of us
That's pretty good. I had 10k in my late 20s and now close to 200k at almost 33. My point is, when you are that young 18-25 you are not thinking about saving for retirement.
I don’t know if this is true in other states but in Washington there’s no sales tax on groceries but restaurant food is taxed just like consumer goods - over 10% just going to the government
Honestly, the way she laid it all out on the phone to her dad was super respectable. I don’t know if I could have done it. And her dad’s response was very measured too when he was just speaking to her.
I live in Australia so don’t usually get here this early but having a newborn means I can watch as soon as the ep is uploaded. My husband and I have Caleb’s voice in the back of our minds whenever we go to spend on BS. My husband even does a good “YOU DON’T NEED IT” in Caleb’s voice.
I don't know the numbers, but it feels like at least 25% of people on the show talk about how they've been scammed, and your daughter without telling you drove to another state to take part in a "free" financial audit which you learn about while you're at work (while also figuring out that your daughter isn't being responsible for their finances). I can see why someone would want to try and assert some protection for their daughter. Not saying he was right, but in my opinion understandable.
@@j.asmrgaming1228 Maybe, but my son, 24, doesn't feel a need to tell me everywhere he goes. I trust him to let me know if he needs me. I just sent him Calebs investment program to help him out.
"all the money is convenient and I want to treat myself that's why I spend the money" "Yes but you can't afford to spend all this money, what's more important, your wants or your finances?" "yea but i want to and its so convenient" Just repeat that 40 times and that's the episode.
I am obsessed with these and got my husband addicted to them too 😂 we started budgeting and really looking at our finances since watching. He always says we want to make Caleb proud if he ever looked at our financial situation 😅
Retirement service worker here: most companies will let people who withdrawal funds from their 401k reverse that distribution back into their account. @@maureenviola Honestly, sometimes I don't understand Caleb's questions either, and he doesn't really rephrase them, so people are not going to understand if he keeps saying them the same way over and over again. It took me a while to understand what he meant by "how are you going to take advantage of credit" or something along those lines (partially because I'm not American, and we don't have credit score, but still) 😂
@@anagodinho3993 I agree. Caleb: Why did you waste money on these luxuries? Not creditcard person: Because I wanted to. It is much easier. I don't like hard things. I like the taste. I like the experience. I don't want to learn to cook. I want an expensive car. I want a house that is close to bars. Because I wanted things that people normally have to save 10 years for.
@@Anngrl69 Honestly, I think it's more that they are convinced their parents had it so much better ("College was $5, Mansions were $10k, Burger flippers could afford to raise two families!") Mostly because other people their age lie to them about how easy their parents had it. And as such they feel entitled to have their parents subsidize their living for ever. I see so many infographic/meme images on Facebook about how it's the older generation's fault the younger generation isn't living to the standard they expect.
I let around 5K sit in collections for a few years with no motivation to do anything about it. A couple months later and I have paid off the small accounts and now am just a few months away from finishing the last bit of debt. It doesn’t happen overnight and it’s going to feel worse before it feels better because that’s the situation a lot of us put ourselves in. But it’s worth it, thank you Caleb!!
Debt settlement is always a good route on accounts that went to collections. They'll settle for pennies on the dollar. The only downside is the 1099c for any debt forgiven over $600
@@personanongrata... this is incorrect. After paying off individual collection accounts and reporting the paid off balances back to credit agencies it increased my score by 5-15 points each time one was removed. A healthy credit score requires low utilization and good payback % on bills. Collections factors into credit score. Hope this helps!!
I've been watching your videos with my SO and we were able to have an open conversation about our finances. We settled down and figured out just how much our BS spending was, and after a month of cutting back we had saved about $1,000. Keep sharing these stories and make people realize that we could retire.
I didn't have much furniture when i bought my house. My mattress was on the floor for almost a year before i purchased a headboard and frame set. Shoot i didn't even get internet the first year either. Managed just fine. A lot of things we "need" are just wants.
10:25 parents are giving her 1k a month and shes still underwater by 1500 no wonder daddy gets pissy when he gets called out. Someone is in big trouble after this.
Pulling out your 401k early is crazy, pulling out your 401k and having your parents think that is a good idea at 19 years old is next level. Gonna have your daughter treating her retirement like a line of credit.
If she had $10,000 in her 401K at the age of 24, and she withdrew it 40 years later at the age of 64, it could be worth $700,000. I’m not even BSing those numbers. $10,000 in the US stock market in 1984 would be worth $690,000 today without putting in a single cent. 11% average annual growth for forty years.
When the dad is like “it looks like you have money” she should have said yes my purchases go onto my almost maxed out credit cards that’s why you don’t see it
That would be taking full responsibility and she's not ready for it. If she told the truth then she would be paying late fees and overdraft fees every month.
Well it sounds like they're going to look more closely now - nice to hear her dad immediately think where are you hiding everything, it was moms idea to help her - so now at least they can see her whole lifestyle is off
This woman is $1500 in the red every month and has TWO dogs?? And refuses to do something as simple as…make tea/coffee at home???? And refuses to cook!!! She doesn’t deserve help
Can you include a small 1-minute segment in each show where you cut away from the guest to provide a little educational snippet related to the guest's situation? Example: How do you end up with a credit card with crazy interest and not even know? One way is that the credit card companies start you with a low interest rate, but the fine details state that if you miss one payment, the rate can automatically increase to like 27%. Your credit card could have crazy interest without you even knowing! Check your statement. Another example: When you're buying a car, companies will have you focus on the monthly payment instead of how much you're paying for the car. That's how they make money and you become a car slave. (and then show an example of a monthly payment on 7 years and high interest versus slightly higher monthly payment on 3 years and low interest)
My parents are immigrants, my parents would respond exactly the same way cause they don't know anything about the internet. It's harsh but a lot of it is tough love/fear/over-protectiveness lol. In my mid twenties and my parents constantly want to know where I am and what I'm doing, to the point that oftentimes its better (in my own experience only!!) to not let them know until something is completed and/or works out.
If you spend more to live in a "walk-able" area near your job, you don't need a car. We did it for years; inner-city car insurance was ridiculous and we sometimes couldn't park within 3 blocks of our house so we gave up the car. We rented a car for a weekend once every month or two to visit my parents and do a big shopping trip.
It's true I'm glad to live in Oregon it has one of the best public transportation especially in Portland, the MAX is amazing even if people on it are sometimes crazy,😂 but that's any place in America, just don't acknowledge them and you're fine. It sucks tho for the majority in America cause most cities aren't like Portland, where there's a MAX or bus stop every few or so blocks and bleed into the nearby sister cities. So you kinda have to have a car or get Uber or you're fucked. It's a lose lose situation cause you need the car to make money but you need money to get the car
I just wish more people in their local elections vote for putting more funds into those transportation services, and destigmatize them, cause people act like taking the bus is degrading or bad in general. I think that is a stigma started by car companies tbh 😂😂
Caleb thanks for hounding a budget! I find YNAB to be most helpful on their manual setting. Everytim I take out my card to pay for something I also take my phone out and add it to my budget. you should make a series called Financial Father or Finance Father where you teach basic financial advice for upcoming adults that were never taught that info by schools or parents. idk that’s just a silly name i thought of but you can name it anything. i feel like it just be nice to have a series where you sit down and give young people advice every week or so, not talking to any specific person but just to the audience
i just feel like school doesn’t properly teach well about student loans, or credit cards, or much stuff like that. only one financial credit was required to graduate and at my school the class was half a semester. the teacher was also one of the chill ones that basically rushed through all the work and gave us the answers instead of finding ways to help us learn ourselves

I might edit this comment after I watch a little more, but I think that this girl deserves props for calling her dad and owning up to it. From what was shown in this video, it does not look like she explained to her dad at all that all that she provided are printed statements for the last month. She first said it was "my financial auditor," which without context sounds like when you hire a person and they do have access to your accounts, SSN, etc., especially if it is under suspicious circumstances (as far as he knows)
No, but I think it does have their checking account number, routing number and if you know their full name that’s enough information to steal money from their account if you really wanted to so I understand the dads concern.

Reminds of these young people who retire at 37 because they did side hustles. Also their granddad was on the board of Coca Cola for 7 years and thus his family could pay for his college so they got a great job and then their grandpa left them a trust with 1.3m in Coca Cola stock.

That reminded me of my Cuban mother talking about Laurel and Hardy movies she saw in Cuba. She always called them el gordo y el flaco. Poor Caleb!
The dad with a pretty honest response in the modern world. For every Caleb there are 100 Indian guys telling grandma she needs to take out 6k in Walmart gift cards and read the information over the phone to them.
Probably thought his daughter was being $ex trafficked and they need ransom money from him. I wouldn’t want to get a call like that either 😂
Fr, her dad was STRESSED.

I felt bad for the dad

Nah if he told her he would have forbade her from going on the first place
Caleb has no financial license in... anything.. so yeah, I fuly understand the dad here. Also, I feel like Caleb and cofucked up the math. She's 1.2k over for how long, exactly? Caleb is right rich folks on marketplace don't price their stuff to make money, they price it to get rid of it. I got a full 5 piece bedroom suite in SOLID OAK for $500. They even threw in the brand new adjustable base and brand new mattress in for free. They legit just didn't want to pay movers to move it to their new house and just wanted it gone. This furniture likely cost $15k+ brand new.
I'm not even rich and when I'm done with something I sell it as quickly as possible.
Her parents are financially dumb if they think closing her retirement account was a good idea. Horrible example of parenting.
They're probably one of those folks who assumes 401ks are a scam.🙄
@@lyriasong3717 I agree. But do they know how much capital gains and what the fees are for cashing out early.. I don't feel like they thought of this
@@lyriasong3717I just closed my 401k for that exact reason.
I respect her so much for calling and doing all of that on camera. NOT EASY and takes a lot of courage.

YESSSSSS
If you just started doing this, then I wouldn't go so aggressive on the stocks, as individual stocks is considered high risk investments which should be done only after you have a solid foundation for your future. Instead you should put that money in a solid ETF, and once you think you have put enough money there that you could comfortably retire ( as a conservative projection at the standard retiring age) then you can start putting your money into higher risk products like individual stocks. This is to protect you against a stock suddenly doing poorly and you losing all your investments and end up without anything to fall back on.

I understand the dad's frustration. Saying you're getting a financial audit in another city for free sounds very sketchy without context.
Not to mention, he helps his daughter by consistently monitoring her bank account and depositing money to avoid overdrafts...
Why save for 10 years when you can make monthly payments for 30 years
I let around 5K sit in collections for a few years with no motivation to do anything about it.
The only downside is the 1099c for any debt forgiven over $600
Paying collections does nothing to reduce debt , those debts are already charged off. Doesn't help score .
Taking money from your parents for “help” and then buying hundreds of dollars in v bucks for your friends. That’s ridiculous and shameful. Smh
My parents used a card table and chairs for a dining room set when they first married.
“You know what’s closest when you wake up? The kitchen” I am cackling 😂
It’s so true though!! I literally don’t know how people go through their entire morning before getting coffee out at Starbucks for somewhere
@@tasteslikepurple122this is true 😂😂 i need coffee to find coffee 😂
@@tasteslikepurple122my old boss had his assistant get him coffee. Buuuut he had more money than he could spend.
Caleb, can't she deposit that check in her new 401k?
10:25 parents are giving her 1k a month and shes still underwater by 1500 no wonder daddy gets pissy when he gets called out.
Someone is in big trouble after this.
and she thinks she is independent
For the best. Rock bottom is a wonderful teacher.
@@kevinfoy493 Its crazy how many people come on this show and claim to be independent, but get money from their parents.
They don’t give 1k a month, they do give money for overdraft.
I think its all right in emergencies but this definitely wasnt the case
When Caleb started singing “Our god is an awesome god he reigns” and the tone and key were accurate, I died 😂😂😂 bravo sir.
When the dad is like “it looks like you have money” she should have said yes my purchases go onto my almost maxed out credit cards that’s why you don’t see it
I WAS WAIIIITING FOR HER TO SAY IT 😭😂
That would be taking full responsibility and she's not ready for it.
Everyone deserves help.
Celeb: *gets a death threat*
Celeb: “this is great content!”
I agree, there's a lot of room for improvement in this show!
This person is inconveniencing herself by trying to make everything convenient.
That's a great way to put it.
I feel like this when I get take out. Very expensive but the kitchen is still a mess
Bingo
I have never been so early in my life. Caleb makes my Fridays a thousand times better.
Thanks for being early!
Yea sometimes the cost of living somewhere walkable can be offset by not needing a car
Same my country does not get that hot snows a lot but I had a small cart on wheels and walked to the grocery store frequently
Biking to work feels nice--not to mention not needing to fill up your gas tank for a few months in a row saves so much money.
I think she can do it. It’s been a while, but I’m hopeful on this one. Good luck kid
Caleb thanks for hounding a budget! I find YNAB to be most helpful on their manual setting. Everytim I take out my card to pay for something I also take my phone out and add it to my budget. Really helps me manage my spending as I see my budget updated with money left, categories, and days left to paycheck. So helpful. The only thing that has worked for me. I’m in the green solidly every month
you should make a series called Financial Father or Finance Father where you teach basic financial advice for upcoming adults that were never taught that info by schools or parents. idk that’s just a silly name i thought of but you can name it anything.
i feel like it just be nice to have a series where you sit down and give young people advice every week or so, not talking to any specific person but just to the audience
i just feel like school doesn’t properly teach well about student loans, or credit cards, or much stuff like that. only one financial credit was required to graduate and at my school the class was half a semester. the teacher was also one of the chill ones that basically rushed through all the work and gave us the answers instead of finding ways to help us learn ourselves
@@graceclover8697 He does have a financial education channel that goes over some of the basics. I'm not sure how often he posts there though.

That little smile I get every time Caleb says sweet treat is my sweet treat.
I might edit this comment after I watch a little more, but I think that this girl deserves props for calling her dad and owning up to it. You can tell that was a very hard conversation for her, and although she did not take accountability through the beginning, she admitted irresponsibility to her father, and that isn’t easy.
She didn't admit she's going into debt when he said unless you're hiding the purchases and she sat there quiet.
It was very touching she was impacted finally having that difficult conversation with her father. But THIS is precisely why conflict isn’t always bad.
11am crew clocking in. So far I’m $867 under my budget for the year (my budget includes saving $15,500 from my salary) thanks for the content and inspiration Caleb!
does your savings include retirement or is that separate?
@@michi-bi Yeah my savings is mostly my retirement because I'm self employed. I'll put most of that into the s&p
Sometimes I tape a little cutout of my face over the guests, to preview the embarrassment of deep debt. It ends up being a fulfilling evening.
Whatever it takes!
I don’t think her dad knows that a paper statement doesn’t have someone’s SSN on it…
Sometimes they do. Even some paystubs do.
@@jumpingjupiter that is a HUGE liability so if they did then that company can and should be sued. sure they can put the last 4 of an SSN if they want but that is still a little risky also.
Yeah, I don’t blame her dad for freaking out though. Without the knowledge that this is for a RUclips Channel and how Caleb benefits from it, it sounds sketch as fuck.
Shes a sweetheart. I feel like her friends around her have been using her.
She is a child that wants to be close to friends and downtown so they can go out to eat and bars all the time, and rely on her parents to pick up the slack for her horrible choices!
Guys, she's independent except for getting a metric fuck ton of cash from her parents. What don't you understand?
Reminds of these young people who retire at 37 because they did side hustles. Also their granddad was on the board of Coca Cola for 7 years and thus his family could pay for his college so they got a great job and then their grandpa left them a trust with 1.3m in Coca Cola stock.

I respect her for making that call to her dad. Coming clean to a parent is hard. Nobody wants their parent to be disappointed in them.

Ouch if she had applied for unemployment she probably would have gotten more than working at Walgreens
She could technically file for disability too having hearing aids and medical issues.
Which some people will abuse that system too.

I was thinking the same thing….
This is a perfect example of “weaponized incompetence.” I barely made it through this episode, this girl took in a grand total of nothing in her time here.
I could never do Caleb’s job. I would literally come across the table with some of these attitudes and the way they talk.
