Bishop Barron, I thank God for giving the Church someone like you. You are the finest preacher of our time. I can’t stop listening to you. Your preaching and teaching deepens me. Thank you so much. This preaching on finding joy even in the midst of storm is one of your best. Amazing! Your preaching will definitely be listened to even hundred years from now. God bless you.
I was baptized a few hours ago. I chose Gaudete because of this joy. Pray for me my friends, to rejoice in the dark hours and in the light until at last our Lord arrives. God bless you.
I love Bishop Barron and keep him in my prayers. He brought me back to the church. He's up there with Bishop Sheen. I'm amazed at people who can change the world. Don't live on the rim of the wheel. Be at the center. I don't do tattoos, but if I did, I would get a wheel.
I'm not certain I've ever been more moved by one of Bishop Barron's homilies. The grace of God's love and his zeal for our souls is tangible in Bishop Barron's voice. A true Man for All Seasons.
Incredible sermon, needed this today. Couldn't help but smile and feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside as I was listening to this. You're a gift to this world Bishop Barron. God bless you.
Such wonderful commentary. 3 years back we lost our daughter to suicide and 2 weeks later at Sunday Mass I had to read Paul's Thessalonians verse that has a similar message of being thankful for anything and everything. It made me reflect on being thankful for the life we did have with our daughter. It made me reflect on the change in my own attitude toward people on the margins who so reminded me of my own daughter in the way they moved, the way they acted, the pain they suffered. I understood that even in our suffering good comes from it all. Not always quickly understood, not without tremendous pain, still, and not a substitute for what we lost, but some emergence of a new you that moves closer to God in seeking out life's meaning. I remind myself and others of this often - to be thankful for anything and everything, not the good or the bad, but anything and everything. It helps in grieving and it does provide, through Christ, an ever present glimpse of joy. Thank you Bishop Barron for such a wonderful understanding of God's word. Too few who do - so blessed, so blessed.
Thank you Father for helping to find the center of my life and hold hands with our God and father. My life is not going easy, please keep me in your prayers. God Bless You
I recently had some "down" times and was just a little surprised that I felt no negative emotions but rather gratitude, joy and peace. I was so delighted that my journey of 80 plus years had led to the "center of the wheel" and it paid off big time when the storms of life raged on the rim. This happened not because of any heroism on my part but because I had internalized what Jesus had said about not fearing, to not be anxious and to trust Him. Folks, faith works! It comes to rescue you when you need it most. This homily clearly and accurately describes what I experienced. Side note: I, so moved by this experience wrote a song I believe was led by the Holy Spirit. I was able to share it publicly in church and, since it was captured on video, with others who said it touched them because of their still living " on the rim". Thanks for providing the medium to share. Blessings
Absolutely. Faith works. Thanks God for his grace to lead you into “the center of the wheel” so you can meet him and find peace in Him. I am on my journey to the center of the wheel for over 56 years. From your sharing, it gives me encouragement to continue. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful! Wonderful!...Greetings from Colombo Sri Lanka with Christian Catholic love for all people of good WILL! Glory to God in the highest and peace to all!...😀🙌🙋🌹🌹🌹
Our Lady of Guadalupe, Pray for us! Saint Juan Diego, Pray for us! Happy Feast days to my Mexican brothers and sisters and all Catholics in the Americas. From New York 🇺🇸 USA! Rejoice in the Lord always. Rejoice!
Rejoice Father! I think the Lord has been teaching me this very thought. Our lives go up and down, often more down than up, and it’s taken me decades to understand/receive the truth that, in Christ, I am calm, unworried. I need not run away. Don’t worry, God is love.
I was a Buddhist for a while - this is the goal, to get off the wheel and live by detachment at the center - but my practice never allowed me to access the Joy that Christ offers. The Buddha begins to teach the truth that Christ fully reveals and actually enables us to live out. Being a Buddhist meant to truly alleviate my suffering I had to let go of Love - but Christ opens up a way to Love infinitely. He is so great and such a gift. By Christ I have finally been able to enjoy perfect peace, joy and a sense of safety. Something I’m thankful the Buddha made me hunger for but he could never deliver.
Beloved John Of The Cross, who was imprisoned in a disused sewer pit for years, when let out, after a few days commented..... "I wish I was back in that pit, I could commune with Jesus without interruption. He wasn't living on the rim of the wheel.
ST. JOHN PAUL II: “Christ came to bring joy: joy to children, joy to parents, joy to families and friends, joy to workers and scholars, joy to the sick and elderly, joy to all humanity. In a true sense joy is the keynote message of Christianity, and the recurring message of the Gospels. Go therefore and become messengers of joy.”
As a Mother one can experience the most excruciating pain and suffering but also the most wonderful joys. I ask God to continually help me to Rejoice even in my darkest moments of parenthood. Thank you, Bishop.
I never thought about until now but hearing the words "live in the center of the wheel". I am. I am at peace. I can bring joy to others through words and offerings. Through my job and the everyday has been calmed by the fact that I live in the center of the wheel. I thought of it as self-isolation. I uncomplicated my life. It has freed me. I don't know if it's right. But I am centered, and Joy is an everyday occurrence between nature and mankind. I can do more, but I'm building towards that.
Responding to caption of this youtube: I had not lost joy ever since I realized that the Lord is always with me😁😁. May God bless our great evangelist of our time Bishop Robert Barron
This can be the most difficult teaching for us all. In our despair it can be near impossible to have hope. Nevertheless, even the smallest sincere prayer puts us on the path to the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. I’m speaking from experience. Thank you Bishop Barron 🙏🏻
I know that there have been times I am in deep darkness and by prayer, no matter how oppressive the anxiety, the Lord has brought meaning and light to these times.
It's like climbing a.ountain. it's a struggle but you hope .and once you reach there, your joy is immense. We should dwell there on the mountain every day, even as we wander through the valleys. Goss glory shines within.
Living “in the center of the wheel” is a good way to understand how to achieve peace. Prayer enables hope, and the grace to understand and live with joy.
In these past 18 months I lost 3 most important people in my life, starting from my beloved father, grandma, and then my mother. For my parents, it was both a sudden death and I wasn't with them. I was mad at God. He didn't answer my prayer. He breaks me into a million pieces. But somehow, I still pray everyday especially for the souls in purgatory. I have no idea why I still cling on to God. Please do pray for my parents and grandparents and all departed souls 🙏
I will be the first to admit that I was born with a silver spoon and perhaps am not qualified to agree with Bp. Barron. But agree I must. The qualities of happiness or joy are not attributes of our humanity, they are by-products of the love that flows from divinity. We cannot escape divine love, we are trapped, forever alive, and swimming in those waters. The joys of the living pass like waves of deciduous leaves in the seasons. Bp. Barron is spot on here.
Happiness is a choice! True happiness comes from within doesn’t depend on people or circumstances or the state we live in. Love is a decision not an emotion! When you have Grace and the Holy Spirit in our hearts its a living water that will never be thirsty the living bread that will not anymore make one hungry k!
I wanna give Bishop Barron a big, big hug for all of these amazing homilies he gives us and all of the wisdom he shares. He’s the best. And this particular homily… just wow. Amazing.
So good to reflect on this Sermon in light of passing of a dear aunt, my loving Godmother, age 95. She was youngest and last of her sibs. Third Sunday of Advent, and in God’s presence, reason for joy. TY Bishop Barron.
This is such a beautiful sermon. Anyone listening to bible in a year with Fr Mike will note the discussion in the last day about Paul’s problems as outlined here by Bishop Barron. He talks about finding strength in his weakness and Christ sends those things to us to help us find the strength in our own weaknesses and I am so aware of that now as I work my way through one tragedy after another. I pray to be in the centre of that wheel… that is my journey and I must rejoice in it. Thanks Bishop Barron. The timing for your sermon couldn’t have bee better.
Mary I wanted to let you know that Fr Mike’s Bible in a year has changed my life. I love Fr Mike’s explanation of the readings which I would not have been able to interpret myself. His amazing ability to bring you into the story and make it meaningful was what I needed. I have grown closer to God and my daily life has been filled with greater joy midst the terrible problems from Covid . It certainly isn’t perfect but I spend more time in prayer and reflection. Never thought that would happen to me… wow! I surprised myself.
This was a very beautiful and meaningful homily. Thank you for bringing up so many real life examples. You did an amazing job of explaining a difficult spiritual truth. I am very impressed with this homily. Loved your words! God Bless! ❤

Very biblical, traditional and deep. Excellent !
The Catholic church made the bible in 382AD. She predates the bible by 350 years!!!
Thank you Bishop Barron. I obey. I rejoice, Lord. Thank you for your Word. I will rejoice always.

Love your talks Bishop. BARRON. YOU GIVE ME HOPE .GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL .❤
Bishop Barron's knowledge is SO DEEP that I always have to rewatch his vids is it just me? :)) Thank you so much! God bless you.
I like to listen to him in the background while doing other tasks, and I agree that when I rewatch his videos I gain a whole lot more out of them.
Not just you. I do the same
Same here! Everyday I watch and rewatch his videos…. And often when doing other tasks… like ironing or cooking. Just sink deep into his words.
Love him, can't get enough!
Not so much that they're deep but rather his every word is meaningful so lots to take in! He doesn't waste his words!
I Love listening to Bishop Robert Barron he always make my day or nights more joyful and happy in the Lord Jesus Christ 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Thank you dear Bishop Barron. My favorite verse too. "Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice". God bless you always dear Bishop.
One of the most important homilies I’ve ever heard. If only more people understood this concept. “We are in this world, but not of this world”.
👍😀

The image of the wheel provides some great perspective.
