Not a fan of POM plate tbh. Too much warpage and have experienced this in both soldered and hotswap boards (at least in the Mode Eighty). It forced me to use weird fixes inside the board to make it flat. Which also results with inconsistent sound across rows. I've heard good sound with POM, but I don't think my example here was the best, it's "alright" lol. I will also need to say the sound being "made good" is because of the Tempest Tape mod.
@@ightimmaheadout290 Hey just cuz POM isn't my preference doesn't mean it's a bad choice. There is no right or wrong way. Keep in mind mode 65 is a 65 board, eighty is TKL, so plates flex differently, I don't know if it will be more or less. It's a different build experience in the Mode65.
@@ightimmaheadout290 completely differnt on the 65. It's also a 65 not a tkl so less space across the baors the plate will say straighter. His issues are because of the pressure this baors creates. The 65 can do top mount and iso top mount imo iso top mount is the best for pom and I have seen many builds with it being amazing on the 65. I got it to work well on my mode80 tbh but there were issues with it warping. I do belivee it's better on the 65 just watches a build last night with pom on the 65 and it was absolutely amazing so much pop. I will say this if you use pom on the mode80 do not use the plate foam it absolutely helps and I got it working perfectly thay way and boii oh boii does it sound insanely good lol.
@@ightimmaheadout290 deepest sounding will be the carbon fiber. But it's also the more dampened plate material in the 65. Pom is actually the deepest either the most pop. Reason it wasn't on his was due to the bowing and not staying straight Def not his fault at all. Hopefully he tries pom on a differnt board but pom will always be the hardest plate material to work with. Especially if the pom isn't cut well. But keep in mind if you use pom you may not want to use plate foam. If you want to then go ahead and try it but I would just stick to case foam and then using the pom without plate foam 😉.
@@hardlinenexus fr4 is definitely better than Pom. Fr4 offers good sound without it being too soft and the problems that Pom plates have. But it ultimately comes down to personal preference.
Yeah, forgot about plate warping issues with POMs. Well, that's a bummer. Nevertheless, it still sounds nice to my ears. And yeah, I second that fr4s really is a notch better than POMs overall. And I think I'll have a custom made one for my KBD67Lite once I have saved enough for it.

damn I just ordered POM for my mode65 :(
which is most thocc/deep sounding in your opinion, fr4, pom, or carbon fiber?

This sold me on what switches to get, thank you!

Great content man!
Cool sounding board. What kind of stabilizers mode in there?

POM plates are alright, do you have a favourite that you would recommend?
Jeez... You really never go wrong with POM plates and Gat Black Inks. Everything sounds poppy as it should.
You think so? I think my example of POM plate build is "alright", I've heard and seen better. Had to deal with some warpage.

It is strange how some of the keys sound different to each other [function keys to the normal alphabet keys], but I like the sound of that spacebar.
Yeah pom plate is too soft and flexible when assembled. Not my favorite type of plate. I prefer FR4, brass and aluminum
