The AFL desperately needs more content like this! The Bounce, Footy Show etc are all so BORNING and OLD and political! This is some great content, my friend.
guy mckenna wouldve been sacked no matter what, as a coach you sholdnt rely on 1 player you should make the team better, guy mckenna wasent that. his entire gameplan was to give the ball to ablett
Nah AFL is the last company that should employ this bloke. Unbiased, informative content that focuses on the facts is hard to come by, trust me he's better off creating content on his own.
Ablett was always incredible to watch after he got it together in 2007. Definitely lost it after the shoulder injury. Would be interested in a similar video with Wayne Carey and his shoulder in 1997. After that he had to bulk up and lost a little mobility but his biggest issue was never getting back his overhead mark. Losing his full suite of skills at 25 and still being considered one of the top 3 GOATS isn't too bad.
This is a scary video about how 1 player can a team I’ve been told 1 person doesn’t make a team but sometimes it does and this is exactly what happened with Gold Coast if Gazza never got injured and was in his prime Gold Coast could have done great things as an expansionist team and it’s obviously hard in the Gold Coast but they have gained so much support if they made it deep into finals and could potentially have the greatest team of all time with the biggest fan base this probably wouldn’t have but it’s one of the great what ifs in footy that we will never seem to know 👍👍👍
I'm starting to have fears for suns this year, arguably one of their best starts ever Matt Rowell's injury might haunt the rest of their season like how Gary Abletts injury did. Lets hope that's not the case. Would love to see the suns play finals footy.
LeBron with the 2017-18 Cavaliers is a good example. He had a garbage team, not one of his teammates except possibly Kevin Love were exceptional. He carried them into the Finals game, and obviously everyone knew they wouldn’t win, but for one man to carry a team is incredible stuff.
Excellent video mate. I was there on so many of those nights when Gaz got injured, burnt into my memory forever. Thanks for making a brilliant video and speaking roughly what I felt for that whole era
Great video and right on point! I was at that game at Metricon when he popped his shoulder. I’ve followed Collingwood for 45 years and have seen many great players in that time. Gaz did some magic that night that was almost predictable, a boundary throw-in and he gathered the ball and snapped a goal from about 50. At that moment I knew he was the best I’ve seen. I wish he’d not been injured that night and won another Brownlow. His professionalism and outstanding service at the young Suns said a lot about the little master. A true champion of the game, week in week out!
Finally a RUclips account that provides good insight into footy with a nice spread of clubs from different states! As a lions tragic. I would love to see a deep dive into the Go Home 5 and the rebuilding process after!
THIS IS WHAT THE AFL NEEDS. Well made videos like these is something that Australian sports are really missing. Chanel’s like jimmyhighroller and mike korzemba well consistently rack in 300k + views on nba videos with a similar theme to these kind of vids. For the afl to have this kind of presence on platforms like RUclips will eventually skyrocket the sport into international success. If you keep making videos like this one and your port Adelaide vid, this channel will explode.
Wow what a great video! I'm really liking these videos mate, they're very detailed and just make the game of AFL so much more interesting!!! You deserve way more subs man, Keep up the great work!!!!
Great video. Would love to see a further in depth video into the struggles of the Gold Coast Suns in general, with a comparison with what GWS did right to be playing consistent finals footy. This vid was a great start in bringing up that discussion.
His old man was the best AFL player I ever saw, and a sporting hero of mine as a kid. (flawed human though). Amazing that Jr got anywhere near his father's weighty achievements, and there are plenty of people that will say little Gaz is *the* greatest ever. The old man still shades him for mine, but it is an incredible story of sporting lineage greatness. As a Geelong supporter it is gratifying that we won one in 2011 after little Gaz defected to the Suns.
Never got to see Snr play but the fact is that both of them literally are a reason people go to the footy. I live in Perth and I went to the game on Thursday night just to see jnr play and im sure most neutral people did as well. I dont know how many more games he'll play due to his family issues but I think everyone should just soak up as much of jnr as possible because I don't think you'll ever see a better family lineage.
Watched Senior play (live) at Geelong, kicked 5 in last qrt to beat us. Watched Junior (live) a few times. Senior was more spectacular and kicked more goals. Junior was more consistently great, he ran, he borked, he marked, he tackled, he kicked goals, but also brought others into the play, and made them look good. Each at their prime, I would take Junior! He is the best I have ever seen (live). Envious Saint!
Watched both of them their whole careers….not a geelong supporter but sr was my favourite player and then when jr came along he was also my favourite. Love both of them and both in the discussion for the goat 🐐 But obviously it depends how you rate/judge a player. Sr for me was the greater player. And by a fair margin.
Excellent vid! I was thinking about this today while I was driving to work. Gaz has to be the most complete midfielder of modern day footy. He could do it all - won a ton of ball, contested beast, excellent skills, dangerous with ball in hand, tackled a ton, kicked goals and very hard to tag. And between 2007 and 2014 he was on another planet. Pendles, Danger, Fyfe etc - they’re all greats but peak Ablett was the man.
That was probably one of the best videos I’ve ever watched, kept me and I can definitely say a fair few other entertained throughout the whole 15 mins. Amazing job!
This is the third time this channel has popped up. And it's the third video I've watched that has been a great story. Keep it up mate. Terrific content
It seems one of the biggest reasons the Suns struggle is retention. High quality draft picks wanting to return to their home states after 3-4 years. You nailed it when you said if Gaz was healthy and the results a little better, that group may have stuck together and had some success. Top video!!
Great video again mate👍 very similar to when Nathan Brown broke his leg when Richmond were 7-2. We all know what happened to the tigers that the year and in the following years.. (btw Rest In Peace to the coach at the time- Spud Frawley❤️)
This is absolutely amazing! Every time you post a video like this, i get so excited! Keep up the good work mate, you are doing a great job and deserve more recognition. This is practically a short documentary!
Really high quality content mate, the effort you put into these videos doesn't go unnoticed. Subbed and will continue to support your endeavours on youtube
Great video again! I’m totally up for your other videos, don’t have to just be footy ones. One that I’ve personally wanted to do but don’t have any time is the story of how Alastair Clarkson built the threepeat hawks and Leigh Matthews built the threepeat lions. Maybe that could be one of your next videos! Keep up the great work!
Yet to deliver a bad RUclips video. This was once again very informative and just goes to show how influential Gary Ablett is. Shame he went down with injuries, yet still can't deny being happy about him returning home to Geelong. If you could (and if it has an impact), I would love to see a video on What if Buddy Franklin never left Hawthorn. Kinda interested on this one, but at the same time, there might not be enough of an impact to highlight in the video. Either way keep the content coming, your work is amazing thus far.
Love the videos mate!! You should do one about the Buddy decision. Would GWS have a premiership already or would the million dollar contract have sunk them like the swans?
i agree with every part of that opening, EXCEPT when it comes to water sports. surf life saving, kayaking, swimming, all go gang busters, including many olympic champs (grant hackett, ken wallace to start with). but once again, outstanding vid
Good video on what might have been. Have to wonder was that not the plan for the expansion teams at AFL House. Generate some momentum with couple of star players, build some success then hope that attracts a following, because it has not seemed to work in the case of the GWS. That would be an idea for another topic. A decade on from their inclusion into the AFL competition where do the Suns and GWS sit, and what are their long-term prospects.
Would have been a special occasion for Ablett Junior if he could carry the Suns into the finals. But sadly it wasn't to be, the major flaw of the Gold Coast Suns back when they first started was that the entire club was built on his shoulders. Tragically when his shoulder gave way, that also took the Suns 2014 season and his Brownlow Medal chances.
The AFL desperately needs more content like this! The Bounce, Footy Show etc are all so BORNING and OLD and political! This is some great content, my friend.
Hello 2 years later didn’t even know you like afl
The bounce is good
They would have made finals in 2014, Ablett would have became a 3x Brownlow medalist and Guy McKenna wouldn't have been sacked.
@boganus699 this isn't the question asked nor is it the 'bigger question'...
guy mckenna wouldve been sacked no matter what, as a coach you sholdnt rely on 1 player you should make the team better, guy mckenna wasent that. his entire gameplan was to give the ball to ablett
Ablett would’ve went on and won another Brownlow easily we witnessed the greatest player of all time and we’re still robbed of he’s full potential.
@@danielmitchell377 Mate they had O'Meara, Prestia, Lynch, May etc if he had stayed fit they would of turned into stars on the Gold Coast.
Qn
🤞🥶

The AFL media department need to give this man a job!!!!
Nah AFL is the last company that should employ this bloke. Unbiased, informative content that focuses on the facts is hard to come by, trust me he's better off creating content on his own.
The AFL would never let someone speak about drugs in clubs, jesus mate.
Another top notch vid, gotta be the only bloke making these types of vids for the AFL love it
I know right! A lot better than the trash AFL media is pushing out
Yes!
Like an AFL Mike Korzemba love it
@@janathfernando1695 was thinking exactly that
Watch Extraverse! They do really high quality footy content
The intro about clubs and territories was absolutely spot on. Even now people forget how good peak Gary Ablett was just a decade ago.
Have not watched a video from this bloke I haven't liked. Great to see this content on the AFL.
"he can cook 2 minute noodles in a minute 57" - very good
Another great video mate! It's a shame when injuries ruin a career. On that topic, I'd love to see you do a video on Derrick Rose and his injury.
would also love a video like this on derrick roses career
Nah stick to afl there is enough stuff on the nba
Ruin a career? He's still one of the best players in the competition at the tender age of 37
I can't speak to earlier generations of players because I was only born in 1996, but Gary Ablett Jr is the best player I've ever seen
Ablett was always incredible to watch after he got it together in 2007. Definitely lost it after the shoulder injury.

Absolutely.
I've never had such confidence that I was about to see a goal then when Gaz would get the ball near 50 metres out and have a running shot.

Lovely video mate, enjoying the content👍🏼 Gazza definitely hit his prime on the GC which is scary to think got cut short but had massive potential🤙🏼
As a suns fan I have to say this is a beautiful and incredibly well made piece - bravo sir 💪
Excellent vid!

You’re vids are fire, man. Love the afl ones. Super glad RUclips recommended your Port Adelaide one, otherwise I wouldn’t have found this channel!

Or imagine what Geelong could have achieved if he never left.
5 brownlows for ablett
would've won the 2013 Premiership and maybe 2012
Jakob Marwood and they’d be as hated as hawthorn
2013, 2014 and 2016 would've been winnable premierships
They would have definitely won the 2013 flag if they still had Ablett, I'm sure of it.
Mate, these AFL videos are excellent. You have a massive talent telling these amazing footy stories. Please keep them coming!
Love these AFL videos man. Please keep it up as there are no really good channels that talk about footy like you do. Good job, and keep it up
Great video again mate👍 very similar to when Nathan Brown broke his leg when Richmond were 7-2.
We all know what happened to the tigers
that the year and in the following years.. (btw Rest In Peace to the coach at the time- Spud Frawley❤️)

Really great video dude, keep it up! Would love to see a video on how Adelaide or Melbourne have fallen off after their finals runs.
Funny comment to read in September 2021 😅
Best afl channel going around

Awesome content!!

Very well explored! Make a video on The Miricle on Grass :)
this is such a good vid
Please make more of these
Definitely had another brownlow at the minimum imo, probably 2 if not for injury interruptions. Nice video.
Great vid mate keep it up, what footy team do u go for
The Dogs surprisingly
Being a Suns fan it’s interesting to think what would if happened if they did win and what could have happened in the future
AFL youtube is exploding this year, now we even have AFL alternate history
Great content

quality vid
Do something about Adelaide camp pls
The Gold Coast rollers have Rick Astley on there team
1:16
4:40 Why would you do that to me?
Big from you Jags ❤️❤️❤️
I'd be really interested to see how you think GWS would have gone without its savage injury shockers from 2016 to 2019.
loved this
