Being an Elite Partner helps. You get early access to information so you can plan these sorts of things out. It's pretty common practice in the games industry.
Actually, I know it's a throw-away joke, but the in-game Gift Shop is a great idea, for reals. Collectable merchandise would be awesome as a new material type, which each station with its own collectables that can only be obtained by visiting that system, or even that station. You can still charge ARX for anything displayed in the ship itself, but you can use in-game credits for all other items.
I'd love a big mall. Walk around and see the ships. Maybe sit in the seat and see if I like it.

There's only a few glimpses of it, but I like the look of that carrier. To my eyes it looks smaller and has fewer landing pads. Perfect for the solo explorer.
FDev did say that explorers were going to be getting some love this year...

wait for it. with the colonia bridge and fleet carriers, colonia is the most accessible it's ever been. the powerplay rework might introduce something to colonia at some point.
Colonia got the BGS rework after the "Colonia Inatiative" Years ago, which got us Squadrons, Leaderboards(that were Cancelled) FleetCarriers(That were remade for the solo player and was a huge mistake), and the Crime and Punishment system remade so open play engagements made sense.
Colonia is all Player Based BGS. And once powerplay takes off. Its only a matter of time before players participating in the BGS will want to defend their territory in the exact same way.

@@That90sKid If that's what a "Colonia initiative" looks like, that's a bad joke. Those things affected all players, regardless of where they are. What I THOUGHT would be a little bit of buff for the Colonia region was the Thargoid invasion. They built the now-laughable Colonia Bridge, and I expected to see a significant exodus to Colonia that would result in a spurt in population growth, stations built, etc. None of that happened. And, just like I predicted, there was never, ever a threat of Thargoids invading Colonia. Personally, I don't think there's anything they can do to the BGS or Power Play that would make it engaging for people like me, and certainly not out in Colonia. I like that Colonia is more like the wild west...but I would expect it to grow more than it has. But FDev just seems to be concentrating on superficial stuff. The only thing I'm actually looking forward to is new ships. That's it.
A few of us in chat questioned the vending machines. You can see them at 1:22 . New game dynamic perhaps? Would be cool if they really vend something.

anything is welcome, at the moment to me Powerplay feels pretty similar to CQC, entirely disconnected to the regular game. i have not bothered with it for over 3 years.

Right now the only reason anyone does PP is for the modules and very occasionally the benefits (one of them is increased bonds and with the whole Thargoid thing that can be billions)
@@Bean41you couldn’t be more wrong. there are still many active squadrons that maintain their powers hauling and also the bgs side of their power. there are still bgs wars between player groups over control system hauling triggers. head over to b2 carinae and poncali if you don’t believe me. be ready for a rebuy if you run into a player

Fortunately, visual appeal and excitement aren't cornerstones of sound, ethical governance. Mahon is like the DBX of PowerPlay - reliable, solid, and deserving of more credit than its appearance warrants.
Yeah but the Mahon supporters won't actually be using his plushies as decorations or such. They'll just be transporting 800 tons of them to stations around the bubble for resale.
But can we buy bathwater? Inquiring minds would like to know.
