- This unique vehicle featured from our fleet, is an 8 wheel drive beast that was originally used to transport Abrams M1 tanks for the military. The Oshkosh M1070 AO has 500 horsepower and 1500 ft.lbs. of torque.

Thats quite a truck ! I had the opportunity to haul load in and out of some nasty bush trails with a Pacific AWD and was blown away at just how good the off roading was in it , this beast takes it to the next level adding another drive axle to it !

One of our 88 mikes in Iraq drove out of the motor pool with the trailer brakes on in his HET after getting all new tires on. Needless to say, he had a long night of changing tires by himself when he got back.
Going into basic 88m and I can wait to drive this thing! But hopefully don’t have to change tires on my own haha

The M1070 which had the 8V-92 TT DDEC actually had 500 HP/1,470 TQ.When Detroit Diesel went out of business because of Mercedes Benz,Oshkosh went to using Caterpillar engines until the EPA put too much on retarded standards.The M1070A1 has the C-18 with 700 HP/3,300 TQ,the Army still use many of them.Both variations use different transmissions as well,the M1070 came with the CLT-754 and the A1 has the 4800SP.They not only use them for hauling M1A1-M1A2 Tanks,they also haul other trucks like the HEMTT's including other HET's,and then their other primary cargo on the M1000 is the M109A2-M109A6 Howitzers,M113A1-M113A3 APC's,and even the M88A2 ARV's.
Detroit diesel never left.

Detroit Diesel engines are exclusive to Daimler products (Freightliner, Western Star). That's why you won't see them in an Oshkosh anymore, or any non Daimler vehicle.

JDC TRUCK & TRAILER REPAIR both of the trailers are highway units. We just threw those on to shoot the video. I made the video as a demo for the BLM and forest service. I was trying to get on the fire crew.

Yes,M1070's and M1070A1's are only for the military.Every now and then they will get decommissioned and end up on surplus.The ones that civilians can buy are the M1070's,which is the original version with the Detroit 8V-92 DDEC.The later HET's all use Caterpillar C18's and aren't accessible for purchase.

Matt Wallace the first trailer is a 65 ton Cozad The second trailer is a 44ton 16 tire Cozad.
@@elevationtransport3753 Did you need to swap the pin to a 2.5" or was the trailer already compatible?
In this video I was running an adapter on the kingpin of the trailer, but since then we have swapped out the big original plate for a smaller plate that accepts a 2” kingpin.

stephen doing I bought it from a drilling company for 48k. The Moyer and transmission both blew up in the first two years so there is another 60k in parts and labor.

Pawel P it’s awesome in mud and snow. You can lower the tires air pressure with the central tire inflation system. It digs in. I have had it stuck several times though.

M1000's don't have 20 wheels...They have 40...And a steering arm.That's what these pull in the Army,they haul M1A2's,M88A2's,etc not just tanks only.

A man who needs to eat, walk, sleed, rest, etc.. cannot have Divine Attributes because he is in need and God (Allah) is Self-Sufficient.

What a terrible waste of energy to send such a monster to pick up a water tanker that small. ..you could have used a tow truck just as big as the broken tanker truck and had the job done. .a Ford F series heavy duty pickup would've done the job for a fraction of the cost. ..
