Having never driven these i will stick to the Commanders, toot toot never flat oot
size of main battle tanks should be regulated to a fixed measure worldwide . . . especially a tank's width & height . . . personally I think modern day tanks should be 248 mm - 263 mm less wider than the open bed of the tank transporter trailer they're transported on . . . you'll notice most battle tanks being transported on long trailer trucks, have their tracks nudging outside either side of the trailer, meaning the tank is wider than the lateral width of the trailer . . .

@@Joohnny_C the point is to make main battle tanks small & compact, less footprint and ofcourse lightweight . . . a main battle tank combat weight should be no more than 42 tons . . . secondly in this age of guided munitions & unmanned strike solutions the good old battle tank has come of age, it has served the world's armies with distinction . . . it's time to go into history books . . . the ongoing war in Ukraine has shown us that a €6.0 Mn main battle tank can be easily taken out with a €1,000 drone . . . you tell me what you think . . .
@@chandrachurniyogi8394 And if they ll make them small and light do you think they ll be able to outrun a drone? Or hide from it? Small attack or surveilllance drones are new on the battlefield and up to now they haven t developed something to counter them eficiently. But they will ăn the future. War industry is very fast advancing.
Talking about tanks...you can t make them lightweight and well armored in the same time...at least not for now. And...besides it s armor and it s big gun, a tank has another advantage. A psychologic huge advantage...it s big size. Have you seen a tank roar from up close? The terrain is effectively trembling when it crosses by. That can be an important factor impacting on the enemy troops morale! Greetings from a tanker!!!

Yes, when they are crewed by the Army then they display military plates, when crewed by KBR they display civilian plates, I believe.
What make are these transporters and who makes them , I can remember when they used to be thornycroft would love to see just stop oil protesters sit down or slow walk in front of one of these when they come round a bend.

picking up from castle martin tank ranges to bring them back to their units
when i left school in 1981 i started training as a mechanic on the new YOP scheme at REME in Bordon Hampshire. i worked on all sorts of vehicles from a ford escort staff car to cheiftan tanks. i got to see the very first 2 prototype challenger 1 tanks. it was the best 6 months of my life. Sadly the army moved out of the town round 10 years ago. seeing APC 432's 's driving up and down the main road was an everyday occourance

What are the engines in those big trucks ?
The British variant uses the Caterpillar C-18 engine, an 18.1l six-cylinder in-line turbocharged and after-cooled diesel power unit that can produce 700hp.
Hell those big Cats sound good . That's surely some impressive heavy haulage transport technology going on there .

Does the British Army still use the older style more angular type of Oshkosh?
They still use the smaller tractor unit which mainly tow fuel & water tankers, however I have seen them with a low loader trailer as well!

Man i wish i can learn how to drive these. Just looks awesome! What is the gross weight of this ? Any chance to see them somehow on a truck show or somewhere? I would love to show these to my son 😊
They are not hard to drive they have an automatic transmission. You have to pay close attention and have your CDL if you plan to tow 26,000 pounds.
@t.l.robinson2162 looks like you done this before. Hats off if to you it's easy. Unfortunately I have no experience with truckdriving. Especially with this type of a truck . This is lot heavier, wider and longer than a regular truck...but damn it looks good. 😳 in the future I'm maybe going to get my licence. But to be honest I watching lots of trucking video and doesn't matter is it in Europe or US in every video drivers says trucking just not as good as in the past. Too many idiots on the road they say. Too many senseless rules they have to follow so this just make me hesitate.

Why are they on civilian plates?
They are leased via a civilian company I believe.
correct, the transport company and their drivers are ex-military .
@@WarMachineTV-nr3jn They are also driven by civilians that are contracted to the Army and when they are not being used the drivers work for Tesco distribution.
@@WarMachineTV-nr3jn FTX is a company owned by the mod. they own the trucks and carry out most day to day movings of vehicles. Black plate hets are operated by army and normally fill in gaps where FTX cannot man, or when its live ops and training exercies
