RWD supercar drag race let’s goooo!!!
Mat’s lining up in the Huracan STO, and he’s going up against a Ferrari 488 Pista & a Porsche 911 GT3!
So let’s see how these supercars compare. Starting with the Lambo, it comes packing a mid-mounted 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can put down 640hp & 565Nm. It tips the scales at 1,440kg.
Next up we have the Ferrari, which is equipped with a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces way more than the Lambo - 720hp & 770Nm! It’s heavier, though, weighing in at 1,485kg.
Then finally we have the GT3. It’s the lightest car here, at 1,435kg, but it’s also the least powerful, with its 4-litre flat-six putting down 510hp & 470Nm.

Its really impressive how that ferrari put its power down, considering it has 770Nm it doesnt spin it's tyres that much, amazing launch for a rwd car

The GT2 RS would’ve lost to the Pista still in the straight line, but would beat the STO. Brake test is always harder to tell.

Mat previously tested the 992 GT3 himself and did a 1/4mile of 10.85 and a 0-60 in under 3 seconds

The STO is underpowered being a high revving V10. It’s lower on torque and it’s build for downforce in the turns and so on. It definitely needs the AWD conversion & a supercharger

I under estimated the STO but that was a good run, way better than i expected. I expected it to be last. The Porche is a beast too, i love the looks and that 6 cyl is an amazing engine. The Ferrari performed just as expected, a mighty V8 and not to mention the engineering that was put into work. 3 Pieces of engineering right there, a good race it was.
That Ferrari has NO delay either in sportiest settings or less sporty. That engine is simply masterpiece. Lambo did alright considering it's RWD and that Porsche is just awesome I love it.

the gt3 and the sto have huge wings and lots of downforce so that does slow them down. The ferrari had a advantage.

The Porsche just has more traction due to the location of the engine and the AWD, but overall the Ferrari is faster, on a straight line and on a track

You clearly are misinformed then. Check the International Engine of the Year awards and check the Best Performance Engine category. Ferrari have won it consecutively since 2011, with the 4.5L V8 in the 458 Italia and 458 Speciale (2011-2012, 2014-2015), the 6.3L V12 in the F12berlinetta (2013), and the 3.9L V8 in the 488 GTB and 488 Pista (2016-2019).
In 2016 and 2018, they also won Best New Engine with the 3.9L V8 in the 2015 488 GTB and the 6.5L V12 in the 2017 812 Superfast. And since 2016, they have won International Engine of the Year with the 3.9L biturbo V8 that is in the Pista.
In 2019 they also won the best engine in the 550PS to 650PS category with the GTC4Lusso T and Portofino, and also the above 650PS category with the GTB and Pista.

A turbocharged engine in the 488 GTB, F8 Tributo and 488 Pista with no lag. The simple fact is Ferrari make the best engines, and have been known for doing so for a long time. One of Enzo Ferrari’s famous quotes was literally that you pay for the engine and the rest of the car is free. Please don’t disrespect Ferrari engines like that.

Its never really a proper drag race when the cars have different power to weight ratios. A 510 hp Porsche against a 730 hp Ferrari is not much of a competition at all.

Amazing how the GT3 is just as fast around the Nurburgring
Yes, over 30 seconds faster, than a Plaid, with double the horsepower.
Even if the plaid wasn't a sedan, he would Lose i think. Power isn't everything.
I don't think the roadster would beat ice on the Nordschleife.
And ice cars can go rounds after rounds with nearly the same Time, EVs can't do that.
Stock vs stock, it isn't. Porsche did the lap time with deletion of Audio, Communication and Information system. Which means it isn't stock. Actual stock vehicle only managed to do a 7:04 lap time. Meaning 3 seconds slower than the Pista, 1 seconds slower than the GT-R Nismo (new) and equaling with AMG GT R Pro.

i think part of the Ferrari's accaleration advantage is his lower drag since the huracan and the gt3 have big spoilers because they are (even) more track based.

The surface must have been pretty bad. The Pista managed to do 10.6s here on Carwow (and even 10.1s on professional car magazines), while the Porsche went below 11s on this channel if I remember correctly. They’re all capable of much better times
Air strips are never good. Ill get 9.2 at the drag strip and 10.4 at the airstrip. You are just using a lot less throttle to prevent it from spinning and you cant lift the front wheels off a launch unless its a prepped sticky surface.
Sometimes even the street provides more grip than an airstrip
GT3 managed a 10.8 previous test
I've raced on air strips and both prepped and unprepped drag strip.
Obviously a prepped drag strip is the most grippy, compared to an air strip, but an unprepped drag strip can be very sloppy, even with AWD.
But the other main problem with airstrip is the exposure to head and cross winds, which is usually much less on a drag strip as the grandstands to provide some shelter from cross winds.

The 720s would have won by a small margine (although on a track it would have lost). The Turbo S would have won on the 1/4 mile but it would have been dropped in a rolling race

In the second rolling race, the Lamborghini down shifted to the 2nd gear when Matt put his foot down. That was odd!!

Best car overall is the GT3 for me. Great sound, amazing engine, cheaper, more durable and for every day use. Kind of unfair to compare it against the much more powerful Ferrari and Lamboghini. Put them in a track and the GT3 will win easily. It is 5 seconds quicker than the Ferrari in Nürburgring track. Furthermore, another controversy there is that Ferrari and Lambo have not the "base" cars, but some enhanced versions of them, while Porsche has the "normal" GT3, not the GT3 RS.
I admire the Ferrari and be astonished by the Lambo's brutality and design, but as Ben Collins said while driving the 992 GT3, "when the grip starts to come into play, they will be in the rear view mirror".
On track the GT3 wins easily? Why you are comparing the Nurburgring laptime who the GT3 is the Manthey Racing version and this was a lap sponsored by Porsche? You think that GT3 is the GT3 you buy in the dealership? If you think this you're wrong! The Pista Nurburgring laptime was done by a independ car magazine and not sponsored by ferrari with a modified car, now check for example the Magny Cours lap times of this two cars... 488 Pista 1:44,9 seconds, Porsche 911 GT3RS 520hp 1:50,36... now explain me how the GT3 RS lose by 6 seconds in a this circuit(who teorically have advantage to the Porsche) and gap the Ferrari by 5 seconds in the Nurburgring who beneficts the powerfull cars? Nevertheless, I still believe the GT3 is the best car for a track although it has the less bhp (just 510 against 720+). A Ferrari is a brilliant machine but I think we are comparing different cars. The 911 GT2 RS would be more appropriate to compare.

Eventhough it's the slowest, I would take the Porsche any day of the week, including Sundays. What a machine with a naturally aspirated engine. Impressive.
The Lamborghini also has a naturally aspirated engine, sounds better and performs better. If price wasnt a factor, the Huracan is definitely the better choice.

The GT3 is made for cornering, not for drag racing. I have both the Huracan and GT3….the latter is an incredible car to drive all day every day.

All cars weigh virtually the same and the car with the highest hp AND the most torque (by a considerable margin) wins. How's that possible?! 😜 But to be honest, it says quite a bit about Ferrari, that it only won by 0.1 seconds, although it has 80 more horsepowers and *205* more torque... AND it says a lot about Porsche, that it barely lost although it has 210hp less than the Ferrari and 300... THREEHUNDRED Newtonmeters less.

The STO is the loudest, but the GT3 sounds the best especially that it revs all the way to 9,000 RPM. If the GT3 isn't loud enough, you can simply install a full exhaust system.

You know what really grinds my gears, you have a sto and pista and a regular gt3. Why not a gt3 rs, or gt3 cup series edition or even better a gt2 rs. It would make more sense since we already have an sto and pista.
