Avoiding Guerrillas On Peru's Deadliest Road 🇵🇪

- Day Three:
Would you drive these deadly roads of Peru?
After a night in Ayacucho Stephan and I took the road north.
After hours of avoiding getting crushed by landslides or disappearing off the sides of the crumbling roads, we made it to the Guerrilla controlled region of Peru.
Discovery Chanel, NatGeo, Netflix take notes 📝 Kurt needs his own show, I'd be glued to every episode
👆
Nahh that wi not work... i like his raw filming and not rehearsed interaction s... beingnon netfliz and other things will just not be the same
They wouldn't go where Kurt does. I hope Kurt's getting that youtube money. He deserves it.
Corporate executives would do their best to ruin the format.
They would ruin it. Kurt needs to do what he does, they will manipulate and turn it into something that is completely different.
i am from Perú and all the people you met on your way were really honest about the prices, people in the countryside are very humble and respectful whenever you respect them, i grew up in Lima, the capital but i am really proud of my andean roots, keep doing it, love your videos
Facts bro, the older people in the Andean region have been through a lot.
Just been reading The Patagonia Express by Paul Theroux(1970’s). Now I’ve found your videos. Great stuff!
Why do they say, good no more? When he says hello? Just curious 😊
When I was young, I used to travel around the world. Most of the times by my own. At that time, no phone cam but only photographic machine, heavy and big. I saw places that sometime i still recall on my mind before falling asleep. When you Kurt will be 50, your mind will be full of good remembers. greetings from Roma, Italia.
the way the dog came round to protect the kittens was so cute but it also shows how wary the wild animals are of people.
Kitten empanas are delicious.
And the dog marked its territory.
it warmed my heart when the dog protected them
I’m from Guatemala and I’m glad you’re showing everyone what life really is in countries like that and not just the tourist spots. Love your videos
Yeah and they’re pure shite like we expected. What a third world countries
@@drkrkt4927 😂
I know!!!
I give a huge dislike, because these "guerillas" are extremely minor in Peru, in the jungle, probably les s than 200 if even 100 active members, and I think this gives a very inaccurate representation of the peruvian nation, and even the jungle.
@@order_truth_involvement6135 it’s just his opinion. And the locals did say there is a lot of guerilla activity around that little village.
I love how you interact with different types of people and do not judge them form their circumstances and show respect to all. WELL DONE!
From my travels, I've found that local people are the best people.
Well youd have to be a serious pos to judge people because they were born in a 3rd world country lol. I mean wtf.
I think that is because he isn't grown up in a western country instead in south africa. I'm not saying that we westerners are automaticly judgemental, but I believe that many are and think they are something better

I like your whole attitude to adventure. You just go with the flow, try new things, speak to everyone, go on exploring... you're inspiring millions! 😆
Seriously? Sio unsafe.
They are lucky, that area is really a dangerous one.
Man one thing I really like about you is that you always very humble with the people and always buying something from them and always trying to help them amazing dude Respect 👍
22:15 the dog is taking a leak on the car while you’re watching the police 😂. Love the interaction with the locals. Well done Kurt

Oh it was so funny!
Taking abuelita Maria into town was the cutest thing I’ve seen
It was my favorite part :)
She got to high on coca 😂
She seems kinda crabby.
@@stephenhensley5631 nah, she's just old and probably a little uncomfortable but she did answer their questions. When they asked her how she was and she said good, no more, what she's saying is that she's kinda ok. The "nomás" she used is like saying so so in this situation. she did say good travel, papa or papito (can't replay) at the end so that's a bit of an endearing way of the people from the andes to call each other.
She was brave in taking a ride with strangers. I suppose the gringos have a good vibe and gut instinct tell her they were fine.
You have shown that the people in simple places are genuine and wonderful.
Dude this has got to take the cake! What a smorgasbord of visceral experiences travelling with you guys. Brings me back to my own adventures back in the day!
You two are legends for hooking up Maria with a ride !
I would’ve probably said no and drove off lmao sadly id think shes gnna try to lure me somewhere since we know this is guerrilla territory
@@EvilWey that’s fine but I would’ve gave the women a ride . If she set me up then let that rest on her soul .
@@EvilWey Honestly from what I understand the Guerilla's are more about bringing about socialism and communism than they are about gangs and petty crimes. Narcos on the other hand.....
Villagers are really against the narco guerrillas, as they also extortion them. They are good people trying to live the best they can in the middle of the violence.

Yes! I agree! I love it 😍
It makes it safer for both of them too. I was shitting myself when Kurt was solo roaming around the no gringo barrios around Lima.

Kurt you guys seriously deserve some kind of award. I watch your videos with a sense of adventure and fear and sitting on the edge of my chair that I just don't find anywhere else. And you guys are hilarious. I travel with my wife so I would no way do what you guys do, but I do love adventure off the beaten path and so does she. I'm a little at a loss for words right now. I'd have been driving like 5 miles an hour on that mountain pass The WHOLE way. You 7 hour trip would have taken me 10 easily. I don't want to see you take unnecessary risks but I gotta say, the risks you DO take, man they draw me in. Your videos deliver. I like the lack of click bait in your videos and titles...
there was no risk here, my family's from the jungle, they didn't avoid any guerillas. It was more dangerous when he made that video in one of Lima's ghettos.
@@order_truth_involvement6135 oh shoot how is life in the jungle? I would assume its like México where a lot looks run down n stuff and do you guys have any stories of being in the jungle? Like any folk lore any personal scary encounters?
@@justamango942 Not really. It was pretty chill. My grandma does have some folk traditions relating to believing in shamans. So they have weird medicine traditions. But only granny still believes in those things.

I spent a week of my honeymoon in Ayacucho back in 1994. We were made very welcome in the town, and much less so in the surrounding villages. The coca leafs are legal and commonly consumed among the andin countries, the problems is when the narcs force farmers to grow it so they can process it and make cocaine.
When traveling in places like this I always give the vendors that bit more than they ask considering the difficulties they experienced in life there ,
No doubt. They are likely funded by scary people and have to pay a lot to run a store. They keep very little.

I can't put into words the enjoyment i get from watching this channel, or maybe i can, in short, you are fucking amazing. Your interactions with the locals with your almost perfect spanish is unique (also because you're pretty funny and you somehow make people laugh in other language) you put yourself in these positions where we get true human emotions out of them not for the camera but for YOU. You also record the entire day which makes it more immersive and entertaining. If someone asks me what my fav channel is nowadays i'd have to say yours. Thank you.
Love the videos! I love how you try to speak the other languages! I learned how to speak Spanish so I could go out with a girl. My first gift to her, a Spanish English dictionary.
