    $5.50 a box at Walmart for Tulammo 223.
    Man, those were the days. Hopefully, after the smoke clears those days return.

      Walmart stopped selling 223/5.56 and 7.62x39 after one of the shooting incidents, along with handgun ammo. As usual it makes no sense when they still sell 7.62x51 ammo. It's a shame, I chose a lot of my firearms on the basis of calibers that were sold in the likes of Walmart for cheapness and availability. It's going to take a long time and Republicans in office before we see ammo prices fall, so I don't feel such days will return and that's before we get into the current inflation that seems to be affecting everything.

    Hey Andrew I free float my rifle, put an adjustable trigger screw and a trigger job (polish). I bought my rifle about five months and it was shooting OK but nowhere near where I wanted it to be. After free-floating it and working on the trigger I can cover a three shot group at 150 yards with a quarter. When I first got the rifle I was kind of disappointed because I wanted extremely accuracy for long shots cause I do coyote hunting, now it’s a striper. My rifle likes almost all amos frontier 68gr bthp , tolammo 62gr hp, many of the Hornady 53gr to 75gr. I’m now very exited with my rifle.

      Although I'm relatively new to the AR, my understanding is really you can use either, but you're going to want to give a thorough chamber cleaning before going to brass after steel. Or really, just keep your rifle clean between uses. Nothing wrong with steal.

  • @slvpd
    @slvpd 4 года назад

    I’d say that bears mentioning barrel twist rates will impact bullet grain choices. My 1:9 twist uppers can’t throw the 62 gr as accurately as my 1:7 twist barrels. FMJ balk tip for paper at the range. Ballistic/polymer tip/ soft point for predator hunting. Hornady Supermax or Browning BXV would be my choice for expanding. For home protection , I’ve got Hornady Critical Defense, for the 9mm, for the 40 cal. and for the carbine.

    • @Tungsten23
      @Tungsten23 7 лет назад +2

      Carlos Espinosa tula being steel case ammo which is a harder metal than brass. Brass will expand properly in the chamber when fired, steel won't causing blow back of some gasses and carbon back into the gun. The steel ammo doesn't expand to fit the barrel throat which causes debris/gasses to jam up the action. So clean your rifle more and there should be less fouling

      Tulammo have steel casings. Steel casings are harder than brass and require more force to push through the rifle. More force=more stress. More stress=more wear. If you shoot steel repeatedly, you're going to buy bolts and barrels far more often.

      combat medic I don't know where you found your information but it is completely incorrect.
      www.inetres.com/gp/military/infantry/rifle/556mm_ammo.html
      according to military specification, "The cartridge is intended for use against personnel and unarmored targets. This is a training standard item used in both training and combat. "
      According to the BATFs own definition of armor piercing, it has to have a tungsten carbide core making up over 50% of the projectiles weight and can be fired out of a pistol.
      M955 has a tungsten carbide core making up 70% of the weight, it is armor piercing and illegal. It has a black tip

      955 pens over 1/2in steel. 855 pens 1/4in. Irrelevant information per verbal nomenclature doenst mean much. When your wearing lvl3a armor. 855 still pens. This is by my own eyes seeing 855 pen 1/4 steel strait on targets.

    • @combatmedic5143
      @combatmedic5143 8 лет назад

      And yes per the written book that's what AP round is. Doesn't mean 855 won't act in same manner on less of a barrier of protection.

      @89tonstar 8 лет назад +1

      combat medic oh so your arguing from a physical capability standpoint. Well yes all 5.56 rounds are armor piercing, with the exception of soft point rounds and even then. I was referring to the legal definition, specifically at the time I made the first comment it was during the ATFs attempt at banning the m855, so spreading the word that it is not legally amor piercing was my point.

    Great video! Got a question for you...at the range I shoot at they do NOT allow FMJ or Armor Piercing ammo (I guess due to fire hazards) (so their rule of thumb is the ammo cannot be magnetic) How do I find out (when looking to buy ammo) if the ammo is magnetic or not? Thanks Andrew!

    • @Monopoly4532
      @Monopoly4532 10 лет назад

      Check if it is "steel core" ammo. Most 62gr 5.56 are steel cored. Also typically any 5.56 ammo that is green tipped is steel core.
      Edit:
      I will also add that if you look online for the ammunition it is typically cheaper and they will list if it FMJ or Armour piercing(real armour piercing is really expensive so I am guessing you are not talking about that) ammunition. To check for FMJ then just look at the box.

      FALSE to the above. Most 62gr is steel TIP...

      i bought 3 boxes of it for 5.50 ea from walmart but im kind of scarred to run it the 1,300$ ar i built... LOL. i love this gun. i heard tula will blow up your chamber and ruin your chrome lined barrel and they get stuck in the barrel in ar15's . i run it in the ak all day and night infact i have NEVER shot ANYTHING BESIDES Tulammo in my ak lol from day one right out of the box. never had any problems. but the ak and ar are very different platforms.

    So right away I'm skeptical about this guy. he doesn't say whether he bought it or whether it was given to him or if he's borrowing it. Therefore I think it was given to him for free by the company to promote this. So of course he's going to say it's awesome when he was paid to do so.
