I believe the expression is: “Don’t shit where you eat”. So many never learn this lesson. Your patience to clean up the shit, speaks volumes about your character, but you already knew that.
Kurt, your admirable picking up other peoples trash, just so they won’t fence off that parking area and not only that you’re just doing it because it’s the right thing to do and you’re a good person
It comes down to a lack of respect. It doesn't take much to do the right things. I just don't understand people. Thanks for sharing the ride. Safe travels, and God bless.
Heather, some people are just slobs. I don’t understand it. They must’ve been raised incorrectly. I guess they’ve never heard the phrase. Your mother doesn’t work here. Pick up after yourself. Society these days is just so wrong. It doesn’t take that much of an effort to find the trashcan to throw your junk away in.
30 years ago we could park at the state market in York, PA. They finally had enough of the mess made by some drivers and we couldn't anymore ☹️. It's always been a problem. The few screw it up for the many.
Years ago I got assigned a truck for a major carrier. I was told it had been properly cleaned out by previous driver. In one storage area I found over 20 pop bottles of human waste. Never was so disgusted and I realized how the public must see us sometimes traveling through truck stops. It's no wonder we lose privileges and access at places. So many do not seem to have any respect. Good for you Kurt to at least try and reverse the damage others make.
Was in El Paso getting an oil change. Guy in a cattle hauler came up to me and asked "is that your truck" pointing to a box truck. I said "no, the W9 with the lowboy. He said " I don't handle freight" I said " I don't walk in cow shit.
This trash problem has been going on since I was driving 20+years ago!! There'd be a trash can right there and trash everywhere because these new school drivers live in pigstys
Last summer while visiting the U S from Canada while parked at a beautiful scenic rest area a Truck pulled in, after awhile the driver ( not from his continent) got out of his truck walked around to the passenger side and started to fire plastic food containers what had to be 20 Monster cans and what were obviously 2 pee bottles down a ravine of which some of it went into a stream at the bottom. Shortly after a State Trooper pulled into the rest area I called him over and showed him the video I recorded on my phone even after presented with video proof the driver kept saying "It not me, It not me" The end result was the driver got what the trooper described as a substantial fine and he did'nt know for sure but the county would probably charge either the driver or his company for somone to come out and pick up the garbage, he also suggested I send a copy of the video to the drivers emloyer, witch I did
I have gotten after quite a few drivers about throwing garbage out in the ground and the majority of them are…well better not say… but it is absolutely disgusting and sad at the same time. I’ve been driving for over 22yrs and we use to park a lot of places but you can’t now and I don’t really blame the places for it. It just sucks for us good ones that care And are proud of our jobs.
Bless you Kurt for not being to proud to pick up the trash that other uncaring truckers have left behind!!!!! You are truly one of the truckers that we love to see on the road!!!! Be safe and thanks for letting us ride along with you and Opie!!!!!! Really enjoy the videos of you and the family!!!!!❤❤❤😊😊😊
I am new to your channel but what you did today picking up garbage from other truckers really impressed me. You won't see this in Africa. I have the greatest respect for you guys. Drive safely and count to 13! Greetings from Cape Town.
He was complaining about it and I thought, oh, here goes a rant. Then he got his gloves out and actually did something about it. I wasn’t expecting that. Good on ya man.
Garbage is a fact of life, I’ve picked up after people for over 30 years. The garbage you showed is an easy one, I’ve seen much worse and places you would need a trailer for..
Just yesterday I walked to our local grocery store and they have a public restroom inside in the hallway. I noticed a big sign on the door that the restroom is now closed indefinitely due to a constant vandalism and disturbance. It’s the same kind of people who don’t care about others, don’t care or think about any consequences, they ruin it for all of us. The next time some elderly people or a kid really would need to use the bathroom, they can’t because of such douchebags. It’s unfortunate. You’re a fine man Kurt. I appreciate you. Thanks for being you and keep on trucking! Stay safe out there 👍
Just wanted to say it's good to see someone who loves his job and cares. Speaking from the UK where there's litter everywhere and nobody gives a sh#t. Your truck is cool, we don't get long- noses over here. Also I love to hear that big old turbo spooling up. Stay safe and all the best.
I liked the video I saw about a year ago where a biker saw a women throw a used diaper out a car window. He stopped and picked it up and caught up to them and threw it back into her open window. Very funny. God bless you and havagudun trucker.
I'm blessed enough to live near four beautiful parks with receptacles for dog waste and free bags. It astounds me to see piles on the sidewalk and grass, steps away ,from the cans. I always imagine how filthy their homes must be.Who is the person that gets stuck cleaning up after them..... It says a lot about the individual.
Dude, I was pretty much born into trucking since my father (who went to be with the Lord in 2016) started his OTR trucking in the late fifties and I started myself in the mid eighties. I can tell you that in the last twenty to twenty five years the trucking industry went from bad to worst and then to horrible ! The specimens behind the steering wheel of trucks in these days hardly qualify to be called human, and some don’t ! The truck stops are the new Demolition Derbies where you get your equipment demolished by some 450 lbs ‘thing’ in dirty shorts and flip flops. They also can be often observed throwing their trash, urine bottles and plastic bags with feces in the truck stop parking lots and everywhere else they get to stop, get outta the truck and urinate on the paved parking lot only to walk across into the building afterwards to get their bags of munchies and buckets of gulp in order to produce more trash, urine and feces. It’s frigging mind numbing, to say the lest ! Trucking has always been a rough industry, but in these days it’s a frigging nightmare !
So impressed you picked up that trash. Thanks. Sometimes when I stroll around work I take a trash bag and a stick to pick up the trash. Drives me crazy when people litter.
Found the part of the trash pickup interesting and hitting home.. I like to walk my hound at three DNR properties separate but all within 10 minutes of home.. Two have camping spots available and often , when there are no campers, I will walk the dog there and can always pick up trash. As your video shows, at these two spots, there are multiple dumpsters available for campers but I can always s pick up a kitchen trash bag or two --- only to empty in a nearby provided dumpster ... Very sad for sure.
I’m in my 70s and I have been in the industry since I was 15, drivers are their own worst enemy Kurt. In the UK it is bottles of urine that you see all over the place, roadside, middle of motorways, just everywhere, drivers peeing in the cab into a bottle then toss it out of the window. Yes so sad, stop in a parking place and you’re guaranteed to see human excrement, sadly mostly done by drivers, yep some drivers are the pits, not them all. Kind regards from Scotland 🏴
Kurt people are slobs these days. It’s a sad situation. I guess they were raised wrong. They never heard the phrase. Your mother does not work here. Pick up after yourself. Awesome video be safe out there.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
For 29 years, I have proudly called myself a professional driver. In the last 10 years, though, I'm seeing fewer and fewer professionals on the road. Littering, dumping human waste in a parking lot, and a total disregard for their fellow drivers is what I'm seeing too much of. The steering wheel holders are why things are so bad now. Thanks, Kurt, for being an example of what a pro does.
👍 thanks for picking the garbage up, so many RUclipsrs complain about it but just walk on by. It should never be there in the first place you’re a good guy.
I always had a trash can in my truck with a trash bag in it.when it was full,I'd deposit it in the nearest trash dumpster.i can name several places that used to let 18 wheelers park but not any more because they got tired of picking up trash while there was several 55 gallon drums to put trash in only a few steps away.even with the new glasses, you cant read the fine print wait until you are 75.haha.
I was waiting for my brother to drop off a truck last fall, and a guy pulled up to drop off a u haul truck and proceeded to throw his garbage right out on the lot next to the truck and walk away. Unbelievable.
Totally agree with ya Kurt. It's all about respecting another person's property. That seems to have gone the same way as being aware of one's appearance.
I live in Lafayette, La. and we have a wildlife refuge where you can fish, crab and we have the same problem. The dumpsters are there, and people just throw there crap where ever. They even had to close for a period due to the excessive trash. Sad. Good for you Kurt!!! Oh, hi Opie...tell dad to get you a cheese burger and ice cream!!!
Everywhere I go...truck stops, fishing spots, parks, the beach... I bring an extra bag and pickup what I can... it is very low class to just dump your garbage... and they have trash dumpster there. That said... we have a public fishing spot on a river near me that has a barrel for trash... and I see trash on the ground less than 10 feet away from the barrel as well as along the bank... it's frustrating...
Kurt, i am with you 100% on the garbage. Although not as bad as it was 25 years ago, at the end of the road i live on in north alabam, it looked like everyone threw out their garbage when turning off the 4 lane. If you remember the crying indian commercial from the 70's i feel almost the same way. No respect for the only home we have in all the cosmos. Thank you and i enjoy all of your videos and hope to run into you some day during our iowa travels.
You’re just like I am Kurt. We have a common interest in keeping America 🇺🇸 clean sir. Yes, I do keep plastic bags handy In my personal vehicle and in the truck with me and as soon as they’re full of trash, I’ll find a dumpster or trash barrel somewhere to place them in. Stay safe out here and hope to catch up or meet up with you soon sir. Won’t forget to buy some “TruckingWithSchmidt” merchandise either.
Kurt, I’m sure this was probably big news in your area but did you see they found David Shultz? Very sad. Actually found his body within a mile of his truck in a field. Hard to believe he was that close the entire time and somehow all the search efforts still missed him
Hello Kurt ' enjoy your channel and of course you & the German : retired driver , local ' Trash 🗑️ Hauler , lol. I know we don't get much respect but not a easy job , about eighteen years in . started at the back literally , throwing trash in packer truck 🚒 residential , long story short got my class two , no CDL then. ended up driving Roll - Off . kinda early retirement due to hip replacement , I'm rambling : take care be safe ☮️
Its a real shame, I'm local drive at the moment lol, the nice quiet dead end road behind are warehouse has now been shout down to otr guys because of the same thing. But not only trash there was blown out tires also!! So pretty sad.
One of the things that I really appreciate about you and your channel is the fact that you care... you care about the environment... you care about people, and all that shows in everything you do. But that also shows in everything that your kids do. And that equates to us having a little bit of hope. Take care of you and your family Kurt. Keep it between the lines and God bless.
I agree, nice job 👍not everyone would do that , our adventure started , how is opie doing good I hope thanks for your your patience and understanding with all of us letting loose on you stay safe as always 😊
Been driving OTR for 40 years. Yes there were always a few clowns that made pigs of themselves. Today it's a total circus! Drivers urinating in parking lots, dumping garbage, dressed up in sweatpants and flip flops. When I started you had to be able to read and speak English. When did the DOT drop that rule? Glade I am close to retirement, and can leave this whole sh** show.
To me it’s just common courtesy. How would you like it if someone dumped a bag of trash in your front yard? Some people just don’t care about others as much as they should.
Semi trucks are often in the parking lot at Walmart in Ames, IA. Drivers shop for all sorts of things from food and televisions to things for their trucks. That area in front near the street is like a community gathering spot for people eating lunch in their cars, taking a nap, buying/selling drugs, and whatever else you can think of... I often eat lunch in my car there and have seen so many truck drivers drop garbage there. The baddest badazz thing I saw was a driver changed out the batteries in his truck and left the old ones sitting on the ground... didn't even bother to take them side to get a refund for them. Truckers are bad but the are not the only ones doing it. Bless you for picking up those bags and disposing of them in the dumpster.
That’s so sad i have actually seen people do that, don’t you just hate liter bugs. Remember the tv commercials where the native Indian is standing looking at all that trash.thanks for bringing that to our attention drive safely Kurt
Much respect to you Kurt. I agree with you 💯% it's heartbreaking to see people just throw their trash on the ground. And with the glasses it seems like you can't see without them or with them. I am in the same boat. Safe travels for you and opie
Been to Lemar to pick up ice cream more than I care to remember because I hated it. Also delivered cream(tanker) on the other side of the plant. Tanker delivery was much less annoying. Live unload but always went quickly.
If you're ever at that drop off in LeMars during the daylight hours, look to the east in the residential area. You'll see a house with a couple of tall towers attached to it (Ham Radio). That's me. Thanks for the videos !
Now that is a truck driver that likes his job ,We need more people like you.
They're same ones who leave their shopping carts 2 parking spaces away from the cart return, in the parking spot.
I believe the expression is:
“Don’t shit where you eat”.
So many never learn this lesson.
Your patience to clean up the shit, speaks volumes about your character, but you already knew that.
The company even PAYS for a dumpster for drivers, Your absolutely correct next sign will be NO PARKING!!
What really makes me mad when seeing garbage is the garbage 🗑️ is ten feet from it all.
Kurt, your admirable picking up other peoples trash, just so they won’t fence off that parking area and not only that you’re just doing it because it’s the right thing to do and you’re a good person
God bless you.
“ Even I don’t drop my trash all over the place Dad”- Opie 😂
It comes down to a lack of respect. It doesn't take much to do the right things. I just don't understand people. Thanks for sharing the ride. Safe travels, and God bless.
I agree Heather

@truckingwithschmidt Yes, it’s all do to respect & discipline.

Two big things missing in this country. Respect and Responsibility.

Throwing trash is not limited to the so-called "new breed." I have seen plenty of guys my age (60+) and older being slobs as well.
That's 100% right bud!!😮

Loose = not tight. Lose = cease to have
I am an EAGLE SCOUT. I was always taught that you leave a place better than when you found it or set foot on it.
You’re a good man, wish others had your courtesy!
Garbage is a fact of life, I’ve picked up after people for over 30 years. The garbage you showed is an easy one, I’ve seen much worse and places you would need a trailer for..
We on your channel thank you for picking that up. It’s called Integrity and respect and you have it all. Stay safe out there.
UK has the same issue, with rubbish dumped (even when a bin is not more than 10 steps away)!
Just doing a small part to make our world a better place.
New Subscriber here, shoutout to grifters anonymous who mentioned your channel.
Truckers are the lifeline of this country! Thank you.
My dad drove for a long time and drivers have always ruined nice things and I don’t know why.
Definitely I will never understand them

Hats off to you Kurt for picking up others trash
I rate the trash dumpers right up there with the tailgaters, brake-checkers and leftlane lolly-gaggers... sad yet soooo stupid😂
You are so amazing...thank you..
Goodness is a lifestyle❤❤
Very will said driver I agree 100% with you on the ones that keep trashing places with three trash!
Oh and don't forget the lava lamp that goes on top of the stryker cb radio
You’re a good model for folks like me, I’ve been trucking for only 4 years and totally agree that truckers need to do better. Thanks man!

Yes sir!!! Shame on the mess!!! Don't forget about your stryker cb radio!
👍 thanks for picking the garbage up, so many RUclipsrs complain about it but just walk on by. It should never be there in the first place you’re a good guy.
Good on you to speak up and deal with the topic of the irresponsible public who cannot see beyond their limited world.
Kudos to you Kurt for policing up the mess left by others.

The problem is there is NO APP on the phone for were the dumpsters are and how to use them
I was waiting for my brother to drop off a truck last fall, and a guy pulled up to drop off a u haul truck and proceeded to throw his garbage right out on the lot next to the truck and walk away. Unbelievable.
That's why there is a parking shortage. 30 years ago anybody and most towns would let you park and sleep. I remember when we were respected job.
Thank you.
Good words and thank you for cleaning up.
Schmidt you have me on top of my beard game. And I don't dumb my trash at truck stops. It's F up that you had to pick up other truckers trash. ✌🏾
Joe from New Jersey!! Kurt that was very nice of you to clean up that trash!! That some lazy ass left!! HORRIBLE!!
The cow truck didn't want to... mooooooooove 😅
It's called mother "people" to keep it clean!
Look, I'm not even a trucker and I perfectly understand what you're talking about Kurt. Some people just lack common courtesy and home training. 🤷🏿♂️
Good man Kurt! Keep on truckin!
👍👍💯🇺🇸
This kind of stuff makes me crazy!it takes one person to ruin something for everyone! You are awesome for trying to keep your space!
Everywhere I go...truck stops, fishing spots, parks, the beach... I bring an extra bag and pickup what I can... it is very low class to just dump your garbage... and they have trash dumpster there. I live yes to and seeing anybody do this to our environment makes me want to cry. Thanks
I agree these steering wheel holders are ruining everything about trucking
KURT YOU ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST ! BE SAFE BE BLESSED !! 🐾🐾❤️🐾🐾🙏🇺🇸🚂🇺🇸🚂🇺🇸🚂

Love you, brother. Keep on trucking my friend.
It drives me crazy when idiots leave trash, especially when it’s 10 feet from a trash can. What happened to respect for others.
We have a nice water front park. Slobs every weekend. Same thing. Worked on the Southside of Chicago. Watched people lose whole bags out the window.
Some people just don't care about anything but themselves and what's easiest for them. SHAME ON THEM.
Been driving OTR for 40 years. Yes there were always a few clowns that made pigs of themselves. Today it's a total circus! That’s so sad i have actually seen people do that, don’t you just hate liter bugs. Remember the tv commercials where the native Indian is standing looking at all that trash.thanks for bringing that to our attention drive safely Kurt
Good job.
That Sapp Brothers has good banana bread at a reasonable price. Used to stop and get a loaf and a chili dog at the A&W inside.
Hey Kurt ya that’s what happen to a lot of fishing spots around here people throwing trash everywhere very sad … Well you have a great Day 👍💪🏻✌️☮️
Right on Kurt!
Safe travels out there and see you next time and throwing trash out on the ground is so disrespectful

If you're ever at that drop off in LeMars during the daylight hours, look to the east in the residential area.
You'll see a house with a couple of tall towers attached to it (Ham Radio).
That's me.
Thanks for the videos !
