    nice review
I have 2 x Arendal 1723 2S arriving on Monday so this guide was just in time
it would be good if there was some extra guidance from Arendal on using the input gain setting but that might become clearer once I get hands on
look forward to how you think they perform compared to REL

Awesome, glad it was timely for you! Arendal has good supplemental help online. support.arendalsound.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019238198-1723-amplifier-settings-Best-practice-for-Home-Cinema support.arendalsound.com/hc/en-us/sections/4406958703505-1723-Subwoofer-App Check those links.

On the input gain it actually boosts output or decrease output depending on what you select. I’ve experimented using REW on my 1723 1V to be sure

Yes, it affects output for sure, but it does it differently than the volume control. Input gain, as I think I understand, does more to adjust voltage levels in/out of the amplifier vs. simple dB volume. There's a nuance to input gain vs. volume.

@@Techthusiasm you are most likely definitely right about the voltage levels being affected to create or decrease output. I’m not too sure about the how but just the outcome. Keep up the great videos and liking the new setup you have.

I have a 1723v also paired to a AVM 70 and the reference setting for me was not good. I toned the subwoofer down quite a bit. I spoke to Arendal an they recommended me turning reference off. Made a huge difference for me. Maybe give it a try.

Oh interesting, thanks for sharing. The web pages say "We recommend setting Ref. Level to on and let the AVR handle level adjustments." Did they give you any explanation for the change in recommendation? What difference did it make?

@@Techthusiasm They did not give me a reason, I told them I could not hear the sub. They asked me if I had it set to Reference which I did and they came back with “Oh turn that off”. I assume its for playing at that level which I really never get to. I have the Focal Kanta’s with matching center and I can’t get near reference level in my room.
The difference for me was night and day, I was now able to hear the sub even in commercials. I don’t have a dedicated cinema. Hope that helps..

Nice! Another Focal/Arendal combo. :) I like those Kanta.
